Lilly got up and dressed and headed out the door ignoring her Aunt Janie's protest about not eating breakfast. when she stepped outside on the porch the feeling that somthing bad was gonna happen washed over her again. she looked around and noticed that the town looked deserted. then she noticed a crow. it was the biggest crow she had ever seen. the bird was balck with rainbow in its wings with a sleek shine to it. the crow stared at Lilly. it looked at her the way the boy do at school, undressing her with its eyes. with out know wut she was doing Lilly picked up a rock. "Go on get!" she yelled at the bird pitching the rock at the bird. the bird swooped up unharmed and flew over Lilly's head and then flew off towards the woods. once the bird was gone everyone seemed to be comming out of their houses. Lilly sighed and headed off to school

Chris looked up from his kill and looked around for wut disturbed him from his meal but he didn't see anything but a crow. larger than usual but nothing unsual. he started to probe the bird but he stopped himself. he told himself that he would not use the powers unless it was necessary. he looked down at the rabbit. he didn't mean to kill it. if he had known he was this hungry he would have hunted somthing bigger than a rabbit. thats wut scared him the most, he never knew when enough was gonna be enough for him these days. he laid the rabbit down in a pile of leaves and stood up. he felt his caine teeth retract a lil bit. he went painstakling over his teeth making sure he didn't leave any traces of blood behind. he dusted his jeans and started for his car. he turned around and looked at the crow. it had hopped down from its perch on the tree and was now on the rabbit. somthing about the bird didn't sit well with him. he said that if he saw the bird again he would probe its mind. he didn't have much time to linger over the bird any longer he had to go before he was late on his first day at Woodrow Willson High School.

Lilly allowed each person surounding her to give he huggs and comments. a short red head girl pushed her way through the crowd to get to Lilly. "I missed you!" she yelled out before hugging Lilly. "I missed you too" lilly said hugging hey bestfrind back then pushing her away. "Keyshia wut have you done to your hair?" Lilly asked noticing the girls hair. she big bouncy curls. "Oh don't you like it? i think it makes me look taller" Keyshia said fluffing her already bouncy curls. Lilly smiled at her firend then turned her attention to another girl aho had just shown up. she had esspecially missed this girl the most. "I see you haven't changed one bit Mandy" Lilly said adressing the girl. Mandy smiled and hugged Lilly tightly. "Well well well, the queen of Willson has blessed us with her presence today" Lilly turned to see a blond girl smiling. Lilly smiled too. her and Rana had been friends scince the first grade. "Well naturally" Lilly responded. they hugged for a brief moment. then i car pulled into the school parking lot. "Nice car" sumbody said. the boy got out the car "Damn forget the car i want the boy" i head Rana say. i just watched him enter the building. who was this sexi masked stranger?

Chapter 1

Dear Diary

somthing bad is going to happen today

i don't know why i wrot that. it's just crazy. there's no reason for me to be upset and every reason for me to be happy but...

But here i am at 5:30 in the morning, awake and scared. i keep telling my self it's just that i'm all messed uo from the difference between france and here. but that doesn't explain why i feel so scared. so lost

the day before yesterday, while Aunt Janie and Lanie and i were driving back from the airport, i had such a strange feeling. when we turned onto our street i suddenly thought, "mom and dad are waiting for us at home. i'll bet they'll be on the porch or in the living room looking out the window. they must have missed me so much"

i know. that sounds totaly crazy.
but even when i saw the house and the empty front porch i still felt that way. i ran up the steps and tried the door and knocked with the knocker. and when Aunt Janie unlocked the door i burst inside and just stood in the hallway listening expecting to hear mom coming down the stairs or dad calling from the den.

just then Aunt Janie let a suitcase crash down on the floor behind me and sighed a huge sigh and said "we're home" and Lanie laughed. and the most horrible feeling i've ever felt in my life came over me. i've never felt so utterly and completely lost.

home. i'm home. why does that sound like a lie?

i was born here in Richmond. i've always lived in this house, always. this is my same old bedroom, with the same scorch mark on the floor where Mariah and i tried to sneak cigaretts in the 5th grade and nearly choked to death. i can look out the window and see the big tree Derrick and the guys climbed up to crash my birthday slumber party two years ago. this is my bed, my chair, my dresser.

but right now everything looks strange to me, as if i don't belong here. it's me that's out of place/ and the worst thing is that i feel there's somewhere i do belong, but i just can't find it.

i was too tired yesterday to go to orientation. Jasmine picked up my schedule for me, but i didn't feel like talking to her on the phone. Aunt Janie told everone who called that i was sleeping, but she watched me at dinner with a funny look on her face.

i've got to see the crowd today, though. we're supposed to meet in the parking lot before school. is that why i'm scared? am i frighten of them?
