I Wanna Be

“Just a few days before our first day of college, you excited?” Omari asked looking over at his girlfriend of one year and best-friend of seven.

“Yeah…I guess.” Dominique mumbled looking out the window

“Baby please don’t be like that, I know you wanted to go to UNC but USC is a really good school too.”

“Omari I could care less about the education because I’m going to get one regardless, I just had my heart set on being a Tar Heel ever since I can remember. Playing soccer for them was a dream and now I’m going to be playing for a school who isn’t even ranked. So could you please let me sit over here and mope?” she asked looking over at him.

Omari let out a sigh as he got off on the very next exit. He pulled off to the side and put the car in park.

“And in other NCAA sports related news Christopher Brown has officially been taken off of U of A’s roster. This is a complete shocker to the college basketball world! A definite shoe-in for the NBA has literally disappeared off the face of the planet. We’ve tried reaching out to the university but…”

Omari cut the radio off and looked to Dominique.

“Babe forgive me if I’m trying to put you in a better mood, but USC was the best choice for me. I swear to God I appreciate the sacrifice you made to be with me. But sweetie I want to go pro and this was the very best way.”

“Omari you were the number one running back in the nation, you put every single personal stat and national record to shame. You could’ve went to a school that had a class size of only the football team and you’d still get drafted!” Dominique explained irritated.

“But you’re the number one midfielder in the nation, so why not put your skills to use and get USC ranked?”

“Please leave my ego be.” She said rolling her eyes.

“What I gotta do to make you happy?”

“Keep driving and let me adjust to this at my own pace.” She said reaching in the back to grab a pillow.

Omari watched her turn in her seat towards the window while snuggling up to the pillow. He sat there for a second and let the guilt eat at him. She was right, he could’ve went to any school especially UNC who was also throwing offers at him, and he would’ve been drafted. He knew she knew he was bulls***ting her about great opportunities. In all honesty he wanted to move from the country. Austin was cool but not where he wanted to be, he wanted the glitz and glam the City of Angels had to offer. He wanted that celebrity feeling he knew he’d get playing for USC. He wanted her right there by his side to experience it with him. Two national number ones on one another’s arm would’ve been a good look for them. Constantly on Sports Center, sharing the cover of ESPN and Sports Illustrated magazine, the sky was the limit for this power couple. But above all else he loved her and couldn’t imagine them an entire country apart from one another. Omari would’ve absolutely died if she were to fall in love with another man, especially if it were his fault and selfishness had anything to do with it.

“Baby” he said reaching over and touching her shoulder.

“What Omari?” she grumbled half asleep into the pillow.

“Come to the back with me.” He said unbuckling his seatbelt and moving to the back of his Range Rover.

She rolled her eyes as she did as he requested. Omari was leaning up against the window with his legs stretched out and Dominique climbed in between them and laid up against his chest. They sat there for a few minutes in silence.

“Dominique I love you with all my heart baby and it’s killing me that you’re unhappy because of a decision I made and begged you to make. I need you sweetheart, I mean I could do this without you but nowhere near my fullest potential. I’d probably get my scholarship pulled from how horrible I’d be playing.”

“It’s ok Omari, I just need some time to adjust. I’m sure I’ll be happy here, I just have to get over the fact that my mascot is a damn condom.”

“It’s not a condom baby, it’s a Trojan.” Omari said laughing.

“Well when I think of Trojan I think of the condom.”

“I don’t see how.” Omari joked grinning.

“Just cause I don’t f*** don’t mean I don’t watch TV Ishmael. All of those ridiculous commercials it’s hard not to notice.” She said irritated.

“I’m just kidding baby, chill with the Ishmael.” He laughed again knowing that he was upsetting her from her use of his middle name.

“Whatever, so why we back here anyways?”

“Multiple reasons main one being that I just wanted to hold you for a little while. Secondly I’m a little tired from all the driving.”

“Who wanted to drive though?”

“Me but I just wanted to spend more time with you on this little road trip. If I’d of known you would’ve been acting like this I would’ve had my s*** shipped too and dealt with you on that short ass flight.” Omari teased through laughs.

Dominique quickly spun around in his arms and kept hitting him in his arms and chest. Omari was laughing the whole time while trying to contain her arms.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I was just kidding baby.” He said still laughing.

“You play too damn much.” She laughed straddling his lap.

“But you still love me so deal with it.” He said leaning forward with his hands on her hips.

“Keep it up with that smart ass mouth of yours and I’ll be loving you from North Carolina.”

“Don’t play babe.” Omari said getting serious and making Dominique laugh even more.

He knew this to be true because just the day before they left UNC was calling her to make sure that she was completely sure about her decision.

“Now it’s your turn to stop tripping cause you know I ain’t leaving you.”

“You bet not break my heart like that.” Omari said leaning forward kissing her lips that were formed into a smile.

After a sweet make-out session the two sat there holding one another, having meaningless conversation and sharing laughs. The two were content with one another’s presence.

“Ok you, it’s time to go.” Dominique said getting off of his lap and making her way to the passenger seat.

“But I was enjoying myself.” Omari complained from the back.

“I was too but we gotta go baby, we’re only 6 hours or so out.”

“You say it like it’s not a long time.” Omari said making his way to the driver’s seat.

“It’s not” she said snuggling back up to her pillow but this time facing Omari.

“That’s because you’re not driving.” Omari huffed.

“Then maybe you should’ve listened when I told you we should fly.” She teased laughing.

“f*** you man” Omari laughed.

“Maybe one day.” She grinned.

Omari nodded his head while gazing at her.

“Given your past I know that this must be hard for you, but I really do appreciate your efforts and how patient you’re being with me.”

“It’s nothing ma, I love you and if you want to wait to make love then I’m willing to wait until you’re ready. Even if you want to wait these next four years until we get married I’ll gladly do it.” Omari smiled meaning every word he said.

“Trust me it won’t be that long.”

“No?” he smiled.

She smiled back and shook her head no.

“Can I get a round about time frame so I know when I need to be ready?”

“Nope, it’ll just have to be a surprise. Hold up…what you mean be ready?”

“Well I don’t want to disappoint you so I’ve been practicing to keep myself up to par. High five!” Omari said reaching out with his right hand.

“Eww baby that’s gross.” Dominique laughed shoving his hand away.

“No it’s not, that s*** is natural.” Omari said putting the truck in drive.

(((7 Hours Later)))

The two arrived in Los Angeles and looked around impressed with what they saw. Omari followed the directions his navigation gave to the USC campus. They pulled up in front of a building that the navigation led them to and out front were a few students. They looked older as if they’d been attending for at least a year or two. They held a certain presence about them that screamed confidence. Only a few things could give off that feeling without words, popularity, money, or athletes. In this case it was all three. Omari rushed around to the other side of his truck to help Dominique out.

“Omari Grandberry and Dominique DeLorme it’s a pleasure to finally have you here.” One of the guys greeted smiling, descending the steps.

Then came the whistle blasts and a referee running up to Dominique holding a yellow card high up in the air. The call was unsportsmanlike conduct, but after the score because she lifted her shirt to show off the abs that scored the goal. It was a rival game, so she did everything in her power to boast that her school and team was the better representation for the city of Los Angeles. She snatched the yellow card from his hand and the marker from his shirt pocket and signed the card. He blew his whistle again and pulled out another yellow card.

“She bout to get thrown out.” Hope laughed.

She snatched that card too and signed it also then tossed his marker back to him as he blew his whistle again pulling out a red card. She was now officially ejected from the game. Dominique walked up to the goalie and tossed her one of the yellow cards. Then on her way off the field and into the locker room she walked over to the unconscious forward and tossed the second card she signed on her. She walked over to the sidelines as everyone continued to go wild over the goal and her antics. Her teammates were just as entertained with her. She blew a kiss to Chris as she walked towards the breezeway. She took her jersey off and began swinging it above her head, getting the crowd even more hype. She slung it into the stands just before she completely walked into the breezeway.

“If ya’ll was getting it in…” Shaffer started.

“Then she’d be getting it right now!” Chris admitted. “I can’t even begin to explain how turned on I am right now.”

“The men are going to go crazy over her in Beijing.” Natasha commented.

“Especially the Italians and Spaniards, they love beautiful aggressive black women. Lucky for you Dominique is head over heels in love with you.” Hope added.

“And I love my baby as well.” Chris smiled.

(((Later That Evening)))

“And once again it’s a star studded event.” Hope said taking a seat next to Dominique at half court.

“You’d think it was a Lakers game.” Natasha added.

“The difference is they came because Chris is an amazing player as is the team. They started coming to the soccer games once I met Jamie Foxx. He was trying to holler and thought I was playing hard to get. So he showed up to one of my games with a bunch of his friends and saw that I was serious when I told him I had a boyfriend when I got my pre-game kiss. From then on every club I go to I’ve got another actor or model or rapper or athlete in my face. They came to see me then they became interested in the games, started telling their friends, press started coming and now every game is sold out. But Chris, Chris is a completely different story. Everyone knows he’s going to the NBA so they wanna watch it happen.”

“I don’t think everyone is here to watch it happen.” Hope said eyeing Megan Good and a group of her friends calling Chris towards them.

“Hey ladies” Chris smiled finally going over to them, in hopes they’d quit with their attempts.

“They call you Breezy right?” Megan grinned playing with her hair.

“Yeah” Chris smiled.

“And why is that?”

“Because I’m the coolest thing in the room ma.”

“Then I must be in luck cause my AC doesn’t work quite right in my car or my bedroom now that I think of it. Think you could help me out?”

Chris chuckled before he walked away.

“He might think you playing girl.” Her friend commented.

“Hell naw girl, he’ll be mine tonight, tomorrow, and from here on out.”

“I think he has a girlfriend.” A different friend commented.

“His type doesn’t say no to my type. Megan Good sweetie, stop forgetting.”

All of her friends began laughing.

“For real man? Megan Good?” Drake asked.

Chris shrugged his shoulders.

“What’d she say?”

“That she wants to f***.”

“In those words?!”

“I told her why people call me Breezy and she says the AC in her car and bedroom was jacked up. You tell me what she said.”

“That she wants to f***.” Drake laughed. “You’re a strong man Breezy.”

“No I’m still the same, there’s no temptation what so ever. She’s just a ho that’s on television.”

“How you know she a ho?”

“Anyone that willing to f*** a stranger is a ho.”

Before the clock could run out of time Chris made his way over to Dominique.

“May I please have my “I’m showing off I’ve got the flyest female as my lady and her kisses get me amped before games” kiss?”

The girls all laughed.

“How bad you want it?”

“So bad” he said dropping to his knees and scooting towards her.

Dominique placed her hands on both sides of his face and gave him a quick peck.

“Bull f***ing s***!” Chris said taking her in his arms and standing to his feet.

Dominique laughed as he squeezed her for a few seconds before he placed her back down on the ground. He leaned down and she wrapped her arms around his neck as they engaged in a slow sensual kiss.

“I don’t think they need me, maybe we can start working on those injuries of yours.”

“Maybe but if you should happen to get a triple double tonight I’d be willing to provide you with a second towel after we get out the bath.”

“Why would I….oh damn….triple double coming right up.” He smiled dipping down for another kiss. “You know I love you right?” he smiled.

“Not as much as I love you. Now go get me that triple double so we can satisfy my oral fixation.”

“You bout to have me running up and down the court with a hard-on.” Chris laughed jogging off.

“Ya’ll make me want a boyfriend.” Natasha said.

“What’s stopping you?” Dominique asked.

“Summer Olympics! Cause when you turn them down they’ll be all sad and depressed they got turned down and ripe for the picking.”

From tip off until halftime Chris was killing it. Steal after steal, numerous blocks, missed three shots out of seventeen, countless assist, and a number of rebounds. He only needed a minute or two in the second half before he earned Dominique’s promised special attention.

“Ms. DeLorme do you have a second for an interview? It won’t take long.” A representative from ESPN requested.

“Um, sure” she said standing to her feet and following him towards the announcers table at half court on the exact opposite side she was sitting.

Once she got over there they immediately set her up with a microphone attached to her shirt and a seat between two commentators. Then they linked their equipment to USC’s equipment and now all of the fans throughout the stadium could enjoy this halftime entertainment.

“Phillip and Thomas here with Dominique DeLorme. Thank you for joining us.” Phillip said all smiles.

“Not a problem.” Dominique smiled.

“Pretty interesting game you had today.”

“Yeah something like that.” Dominique giggled.

“We have some highlights we’d like to discuss.” Thomas said sounding a lot less enthused.

“Alright” Dominique said looking down at the screen.

They played the part when she was talking to Ashley then cut to when she kicked the ball into the other girl’s face.

“What happened there? Lots of people feel that there was some unsportsmanlike conduct that occurred.”

“I tend to get a little upset when I’m shown the same unsportsmanlike conduct, but it was an accident anyways.” She lied smirking. “Do you happen to have a clip of what initiated the turn of events?”

“As a matter of fact I think we do.” Phillip said.

They waited a few seconds then watched as the girl intentionally elbowed Dominique in the mouth.

“That still doesn't excuse your actions.” Thomas said once the booing was low enough for him to be heard.

“I see you’re a UCLA fan Thomas.” Dominique commented.

The booing erupted once again.

“It’s not that it was just very unprofessional of you to react the way you did. Kids are watching, do you want them to emulate you?”

“Not really, I’m my own person, I don’t really know how to be a role model. I apologize if I’m doing it wrong but technically I think I’m doing something right. If you’re willing to take the punishment that comes with your actions then go for it. But make sure your actions are warranted.”

“So knocking that girl unconscious was warranted?”

“My intentions weren't to knock her unconscious. I was just trying to get the ball down field so I could punish their team by scoring. Not my fault her face was in the way of the kick or that she went to sleep.”

“Actually it is”

“I guess you’re right, I pride myself on having one of the strongest kicks in the collegiate league.” Dominique giggled as the rest of the audience laughed. “But let’s think about it from my point of view. Someone comes up in my house and in front of my family and friends they hit me in the mouth. What would you do? And if you’re going to say nothing then please literally say nothing at all because I’m gonna call you a b**** if you do.”

“This interview is over!”

The Producer kept winding his hand in circles signaling that this interview wasn’t over.

“I think someone wants us to keep talking about this, so lets keep talking. Exactly what would you do if I came up in the ESPN studios and went upside your head? What would you do in front of all your colleagues?”

“I don’t know” he replied not looking at Dominique.

“And why would you? You’d never be put in a position to prove yourself as an Alpha male.” Dominique taunted as Phillip tried to hide his amusement.

“How about we speak on your unsportsmanlike conduct when you took the yellow cards from the referees, signed them, then tossed them on the players like they were nothing?”

“Ok let’s talk about it.”

“Why’d you do it?”

“Because once the game was over they wouldn't have the nerve to ask me for my autograph after such an amazing display of athleticism. So I decided to take some initiative and hook them up.”

“I can see you’re not taking this interview serious.”

“Not even a little bit.” Dominique laughed along with the crowd. “The difference between me and you,” she said standing to her feet. “is if I walk away it’s no big deal. But you walk off, you’re placing your job and livelihood at serious risk. So while you’re sitting there salvaging your job I’ll take this opportunity to inform you that if you ever come in my home and try to question me about my methods of dealing with certain situations disrespectful to me and my fellow Trojans I’ll do a lot more than just embarrass you. Next time you might wanna do it away from a place me and we call our home.” Dominique explained as the crowd went into an uproar of cheers all over again.

“Dominique DeLorme ladies and gents!” Phillip shouted between laughs.

As Dominique made her way back across the court the basketball team was making their way back out onto the floor. Chris quickly caught up to her.

“What’d you do?” he smiled.

“You’ll see tonight on Sports Center.” She giggled. “Now focus baby, you’ve still got some stats to get.” She smiled.

“Indeed” he smiled kissing her as he walked her back over to her seat.

(((After Party)))

The celebration of the soccer and basketball teams’ victory was in full swing. It was a first time that there was absolutely no drama going on.

“One! Two! Three! SHOOT!” Zoe shouted as herself and many others threw back a shot.

“Ok so the party is clearly in here.” Someone said making their way into the kitchen.

“Megan Great” Drake said walking towards her.

“No, it’s Good sweetheart.”

“From where I’m standing it’s Great!” he confirmed causing her to giggle.

“I don’t mean to be rude but where’s Breezy at? I mean this is his frat house and they did win tonight, so he should be here, right?” Megan asked.

Everyone looked at one another and began laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Megan asked smiling a fake smile.

“That nigga is so hung up on his girl it ain’t even funny.” Trey explained.

“She got that fire like dat?” Megan probed seemingly innocently.

Once again everyone laughed.

“I’m sure she does but that ain’t what got the nigga so sprung.” Drake explained between chuckles.

“Then what does?” Megan asked.

“He’s just really that much in love with Dom. Their time is dedicated to one another. Every last second of free time they possess belongs to one another.”

“So it’s true love” Megan said as if she respected this information.

“Pretty much” Riley confirmed.

Megan and a few of her friends moved to the side to debate weather if they wanted to stay or not.

“Girl don’t worry about it, you’ll just have to catch him another day. Show him his girl ain’t got nothing on you.” One of her friends boasted.

“I know right! He too fine to be with some college crush. He needs this chick on his arm.” Megan said while doing a little dance.

“What’s going on?” Another one of her friends said as they noticed a majority of the crowd begin to shift.

The music was turned off and what sounded like a television was turned up. They all went to where they could have a better view of what everyone’s attention seemed to be on.

“Tonight on Sports Center, USC and their abundance of talent these days. I’m Scott Van and with me is Kenny Mayne. SO! Chris Brown, thirty six points, eleven steals, nine blocks, twenty assists, and caused an excessive amount of turnovers.” He said as highlight after highlight of Chris was displayed on the 72’’ plasma television. “This kid is amazing and he’s going places!” Scott announced excitedly.

“Yeah he is, my place.” Megan mumbled to her friends.

“Personally I think he’s cheating.” Kenny said with a shrug of his shoulders.

“What?!” Scott shouted, shocked with his statement.

“I mean look at this.” He said displaying a picture of him and Dominique kissing before the game. “A kiss from the infamous Dominique DeLorme would have me with these kinds of stats too. So yeah, he’s cheating.”

“Do I sense jealousy?” Scott laughed jokingly.

“Yeah! Because it’s far and few in between when you find a Super-Woman like her! Let’s move on to DeLorme’s game.”

“Sure, but first I think we should take notice to a certain trend.” Scott said as a picture of Dominique and Chris kissing at her game displayed.

“Change the picture!” Kenny demanded pointing at the producer.

The picture quickly changed to Dominique by herself on a soccer field smiling. Then they cut back to Kenny who had his elbows on the desk and his chin resting on the back of his hands, admiring her photo.
Everyone behind the cameras began laughing.

“Ok I’m done, play the clip.”

Everyone watched the highlights of the game that day, which were all clips of Dominique. Then they stopped and Scott was back on the television.

“If you have young children, it’d probably be bests you got them out of the room.” He warned before the clips came back on.

It showed Dominique getting elbowed in the mouth, her getting back up on her feet looking mad, spitting out blood as she walked up to her goalie. She said a few words then turned and began walking away.

“Ok seriously, get the kids out of the room BECAUSE HERE WE GO!” he shouted as the clip continued.

The reactions were still the same as they were earlier when they watched the ball smash into the girl’s face and the force of it all lifting her from her feet and landing her on her back, as Dominique headed the ball towards the direction she wanted it to go.

“This is my favorite part.” They showed Kenny saying with so much admiration in his eyes and voice.
They watched Dominique charge the goalie and then the ball slam into her stomach and go flying back into the net for a goal. The cameras went back onto Kenny as Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” began playing.

“Holy f***ing s***! That’s his girlfriend?!” Megan said as quietly as possible to her friends.

They looked back towards the television and watched Sports Center repeat the part where Dominique took her shirt off and swung it over her head.

“You might wanna chalk that one up as a loss.” One of Megan’s friends said honestly.

Megan didn’t want to look like a punk and agree but she didn’t want to look stupid either by disagreeing.

“Second thoughts about Breezy yet?” Riley asked.

“That ball hit her at forty-four miles an hour and she didn’t even flinch. She was actually laughing about it when we were in the locker room.” Zoe added.

“Find another nigga chick.” A fellow teammate said as they walked back into the kitchen, but not without a small shoulder bump.

“They some damn loyal ass bullies.” Trey laughed along with Shaffer.

December passed quickly. The soccer and basketball athletes spent Christmas Eve and Christmas with their family but made their way right back to school. Though it was winter break the teams still had practices, games, and even a few tournaments. The teams proved themselves victorious throughout the winter. School came back around and most of the students made it blatantly obvious that they had no desire to be there, except Dominique of course.

“You pass the quiz?” Shaffer teased nudging Dominique.

“Come on now, you know I aced that s***!”

“f***ing nerd” Omari teased laughing.

(((February 14th)))

Most of the crew was sitting in Mrs. Parker’s class taking notes. Though she was a complete hypocrite when it came to the rules, she knew what she was talking about when it came to History, which is why most of them continued to take her class.

“Flowers for Ms. DeLorme” a flower delivery announced as he walked through the doors.

“Aren’t you cute” Dominique smiled looking at Chris.

“Those ain’t from me.” He admitted as the florist was halfway down the steps.

“Seriously?” Dominique questioned.

“Yeah” Chris confirmed.

“Who are they from?” Dominique questioned as he made his way towards her.

“Well tell Dave I said thanks but no thanks.”

“Sorry about the interruption.” He said making his way back up the steps.

Mrs. Parker continued teaching and a few minutes later the class was interrupted once again with five delivery men each holding a dozen roses in each arm.

“What the f***? Dude tell him no!” Dominique said when they walked back up to her.

Once again they turned away and exited the classroom.

“Ms. DeLorme” Mrs. Parker started before Dominique cut her off.

“Seriously? You’re gonna give me s*** because someone else is interrupting your class?”

“They’re coming here for you, so technically it’s your fault.”

“Did I ask them to come here? No, I didn’t. Please stop wasting time and get back to teaching.”

Mrs. Parker didn’t have any time to retaliate verbally because her doors reopened and in came ten delivery men holding a dozen roses in each arm.

“Are you f***ing a florist?” Drake laughed.

“Ok seriously this s*** is becoming creepy. Tell this Dave guy that he’s gonna get me cussed out by my boyfriend if he doesn’t quit. I appreciate it I really do but I don’t want them.”

“You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me!” Someone said making his way down the steps. “You said she wanted to meet me.” The guy said walking up to Chris.

“David is a pretty popular name, maybe you should’ve put your last name on the card. Why are you buying all these flowers anyways?”

“It Valentine’s Day, why aren’t you buying a s*** ton of flowers for this beauty?” David asked.

Dominique was in complete shock and couldn’t speak.

“The flowers are coming, but I figured I’d give them to her when she was done hanging out with you.”

“Did you get your girlfriend another man for Valentine’s Day?” Shad laughed.

“Technically, yes he’s a man but he also happens to be her idol. We’re talking her soccer God! Jordan for me, Beckham for her.” Chris admitted proudly.

“David Beckham, it’s an honor to meet you Dominique DeLorme.” He said extending his hand towards her.

She took his hand and couldn’t stop smiling or blushing.

“I hear you’re a very bright girl so it wouldn’t hurt if you skipped out on the rest of this class and the other ones scheduled for the day would it?”

Dominique was unable to speak so she shook her head no with the biggest smile on her face.

“Well come on then.” He said all smiles, helping her up from her seat.

“I swear to God you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me! I love you so much.” Dominique confessed just before she kissed Chris deeply.

“I love you too babygirl, Happy Valentine’s Day.” Chris smiled when she pulled away. “Now go have fun.”

“Have her back by…”

“Eight o’clock, I remember. Don’t want dinner to get cold.” David said taking Dominique by the hand and leading her back up the stairs.

“Chris you’re gonna cut that s*** out.” Shaffer said kicking the back of Chris’s chair.

“What?” Chris laughed.

“Dude I can’t compete with that!”

“Oh stop overreacting because I love my diamond earrings. But David Beckham was pretty dope Chris.”

“I know right”

A few hours later everyone was hanging out in the quad when a very well dressed woman came walking up on them.

“Which one of you gentlemen is Christopher Brown?” She asked in a proper manner.

“I am, Victoria Beckham right?”

“Yes” she smiled.

“Pleasure to meet you.” Chris smiled extending his hand to her.

She gently took his hand and he bent down like a true gentleman and placed a kiss on the back of her hand.

“Happy Valentine’s Day pretty lady.” He smiled.

“What a charming young gentleman you are.” she blushed. “I don’t mean to take up your time but we have a problem on our hands.”

“Which would be?”

“My husband is absolutely smitten by your girlfriend and she in turn adores him just as much. He had a nice lunch prepared for the two of them, waiting at center field of the Home Depot Center and they’ve been down there running the L.A. Galaxy team ragged.” Victoria giggled as the others laughed. “After you two had your meeting he came straight home and got on the net to further study Dominique’s soccer background. All I heard was she did this and she did that and did you know she’s been the highest scoring midfielder since this date and did you know she has this many something or another’s. He became semi-obsessed. Then he began watching everything she’s done on YouTube. I must admit she is an amazing specimen when it comes to needing a laugh. She is so talented and brutal on that soccer field. I wish there were an award for Most Feared opponent somewhere because they would surely win.”

“That’s my baby” Chris smiled.

“I say all this to say that she will not be returned at the initially agreed upon time. The team will grow extremely weary of their excessive amount of energy and then in their sweaty nasty clothes they’ll go out and drink at some pub that’ll let them drink for free because of who they are. Then we won’t see them until….well hell I don’t know because they’ll only wake up hungover and go play soccer. So we have a situation on our hands. I’m sure you have a very romantic evening planned for her. But it won’t happen if we don’t intervene.”

“Any suggestions?” Chris asked.

“Yes, we have to go down there in person and probably drag our mate from that field.”

“Seven sound good to you?”

“I’ll be at the Center with bells, whistles, and an expensive horn my husband provided me with.” Victoria smiled.

“He bought you a car?” Zoe smiled.

“Yes he did” she smiled. “Nice chatting with you.” She said before she walked away.

“How right you were” Chris said standing next to Victoria.

“Told you”

Dominique and David were running around as if they had just begun playing. As they walked onto the field they noticed a pile of soaking wet shirts. Then they took notice to how sweaty the two were. The shirts were so drenched that they were stuck to their bodies and almost completely see through.

“Hey love” David said jogging off the field followed by Dominique.

The two relieved themselves of their shirt, tossed them in the pile, then made their way to fresh shirts lying on the bench.

“You’ve been playing for almost seven hours. Time to go home.” Victoria said.

David and Dominique both looked at one another then at their significant other.

“But he said I had to have her home by eight.” David argued.

“If you left now you’d be twelve minutes early. We’re currently located a good distance away from where they stay.”

The two once again looked at one another as if pondering if the repercussions of their decision to continue playing would outweigh the fun they would surely have.

“Stop!” Victoria demanded. “Your wordless conversation is over. You two will pay if you continue to play.”

“Guess we’re done.” David said not hiding his irritation.

“Guess so”

“Wow! So you’d rather spend the evening playing soccer rather than being with your loved one on the day of romance?” Chris asked.

“Please don’t make me answer that when my idol is standing next to me.”

“Unbelievable” Chris and Victoria said in unison.

Dominique and David both began laughing but stopped when they saw that the other two weren’t the slightest bit amused.

“So it’s become obvious that we have a “to be continued” moment going on.”

“I’ll call you.” He said opening his arms.

“Thank you so much” Dominique smiled walking into his embrace.

“No, thank you.” He said holding her tight. “I’ll be calling you soon to set up another play date. One of which we won’t be disturbed because of a man made holiday of which my wife has already received her gift.” He said with a roll of his eyes as he released her.

“But I haven’t given you your gift.” Victoria defended.

“Let us keep playing and I’ll swear that this was the best Valentine’s Day until the day I die.”

“Have you given Christopher his gift?” Victoria asked.

“No…but I’m almost positive he’ll appreciate it no matter what time I give it to him.”

“But I’m sure he’d appreciate it more if he got it sooner than later. Especially since you’ve been away from him for a good portion of the day.”

“No honey, she’s right he’s going to love it no matter when he gets it. Part of it is very inexpensive but it has so much meaning and love that this will be his best Valentine’s ever. Guys don’t usually care too much about this event, but you will after tonight.” David assured him.

“I don’t doubt your words my friend but I’ve got food prepped waiting to be cooked, a tub waiting to be filled, candles ready to be lit, and music to be danced to. So good evening Mr. and Mrs. Beckham.” Chris said taking Dominique by the hand and leading her away.

“Cute couple” Victoria said as she watched them walk away.

“Yeah, so what you got planned for the remainder of this evening?”

“Just gonna have to come home and see.”

“I know I don’t have to ask but did you have fun today?” Chris asked as he sped on the freeway just to keep up with traffic.

“Fun isn’t even the word. That was the best.”

“Well I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.” Chris smiled.

A half an hour later Chris was pulling up into his parking spot at his condo.

“Madison is going to love this.” She said eyeing an autographed jersey.

“The little girl who’s mom is a receptionist here right?”

“Yeah, she has a crush on David.” Dominique giggled as they made their way towards the elevator.

(((In The Lobby)))

“Oh no, it’s fine we’ll wait.” Dominique said to the receptionist that told her Madison’s mother was taking a call at the moment.

“Well, well, well” a drunken Omari said as he walked through the entrance holding the hand of two different and very beautiful females. “Funny running into you guys here.”

“I sense something very itchy in his future.” Dominique mumbled causing Chris to laugh.

“What ya’ll doing here?” Omari asked approaching them.

“The same thing as you.”

“I doubt that” Omari chuckled.

Dominique merely shrugged her shoulders.

“So what ya’ll got planned for the evening?”

“Food, a bath, and some slow dancing.” Chris explained.

“Wow….um….alright” Omari said as if Chris just said the stupidest thing he had ever heard.

“Why don’t you gon’head and head upstairs with your two friends.” Chris suggested becoming irritated.

“Don’t be upset honey, you should actually be happy that he’s going to have such an interesting evening. That’s your brother. Just like he’s probably happy that you have, in his eyes, such a boring evening planned. But I’m gonna love it.” She smiled.

Chris caught on that Dominique was taking shots at Omari. Though they were cool most of the time, everyone knew that Omari would love nothing more than to be with Dominique again and enjoy what he was playing off to be boring.

“They’re quite pleasing to the eye Omari, can they maybe join us?” One of the females asked.

“I don’t know how comfortable he’d feel having his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend join you for the evening.” Chris voiced.

“I’m sure I could get past it.” He said eyeing Dominique.

“And how much fun could we possibly be? I might watch them hook each other up and you might get a kiss or two out of her but that’s it. We’d just be in the way, so thanks but no thanks. We’ll go enjoy some boring alone time together.” Chris said with complete nonchalance.

“Hey Dominique!”

“Hi Erica, I don’t want to keep you but I got something for Madison.” Dominique said holding up the autographed David Beckham jersey she had.

“Oh my goodness!” she said shocked, holding her hands over her mouth. “She is going to love this!”

“Tell her I said Happy Valentine’s Day.” Dominique smiled as she handed it to her.

“I will! Thank you so much Dominique.” She said embracing her in a hug.

“No problem, have a good night.”

“I will”

“You’re the best you know that right?” Chris smiled taking her hand.

“No” Dominique giggled.

“Yes” Chris said pulling her into his arms and kissing her as they slowly made their way towards the elevator.

“Should we hold this one for you?” Omari interrupted.

“Naw we good” Chris said going back into the kiss.

“It’s ok, we’ll wait.” Omari chuckled.

Dominique rolled her eyes at Omari’s immaturity as she broke the kiss. Chris released her and re-took her hand as they walked onto the elevator.

“You two sure you don’t want to join us? I promise we’ll have a good time.” One of the females said.

“No thank you” Chris reconfirmed.

“Don’t think we’re only interested in you baby boy. I would love an evening with her.” The other pointed to Dominique.

“No thank you” Dominique also reconfirmed.

“Thank God” Chris grumbled.

“Night” Omari chuckled as he and his two lady friends exited the elevator.

(((Thirty Minutes Later)))

“Babe” Chris shouted when he heard her get out of the shower.

“What’s up?” She asked as she began filling the tub.

“Dinner is ready, you wanna eat first?”

“Not really that hungry, but we can eat first instead of taking a bath in this beautifully candle lit bathroom.” She said walking out with a towel wrapped around herself.

Chris eyed her thoroughly. Her freshly washed hair hanging down past the middle of her back, her toned and evenly tanned skin, with droplets of water gliding down her in random places, and back up to her beautiful gray eyes.

“I did work hard on setting those candles up. Can’t not enjoy their purpose. We can heat this back up.” He said shutting off the stove.

“Don’t forget to turn the lights off in there. I think the moonlight and candles will be just fine illuminating the remainder of our evening.”

“Your wish is my command my love.” He said turning off the lights then walking into the bedroom.

He went to grab at the bottom of his shirt before Dominique stopped him.

“No, please allow me.” She smiled raising his shirt up over his head then tossing it to the side.

They stared one another in the face as she undid his belt, button, and zipper. His jeans fell to the ground. She pulled his boxers down to his ankles and he stepped out of everything and kicked it to the side as she stood back up.

“Still need this?” he asked placing his hand on the front of her towel.

“No” she replied before he gently removed it from her body and tossed it onto the sink counter.

They got into the tub and sat in silence for a good portion of time, enjoying the mood, listening to the music, gently gliding their fingertips along one another’s body.

“I’m slightly curious about your gift but to be honest I really don’t care what you got me. This right here is perfect.”

“Is that so?” she smiled looking up at him.

“It is. I’ve pleased my woman and now I’m rewarded with her sexy naked body up against me with perfect music playing and the perfect atmosphere. Yeah, I’m positive I’m good.”

Dominique turned in his arms and sat on his lap.

“That’s good to hear I suppose because I didn’t spend very much money on your gift.”

“Don’t care”

“But it’s really sentimental.”

“Then I really want it” he smiled bringing her down slightly so he could kiss her.

“Well I’m ready to hand it over to you.”

“Ok” he smiled. “So where’s it at? Should I go get it or do you want to?”

“Here’s the thing….I want you to go get it but I also have to give it to you.”

“Babe you’re not making sense.” He chuckled.

“It’ll all make sense in a second.”

“You seem as though you want to give it to me now. You sure you don’t want to bathe a little more?” he asked rubbing his hands down her back then squeezing her backside once he reached it.

“Yes and no, but I would like to give you your gift now.”

“Ok, so where’s it at?”

“In your dresser next to your bed.” She said sliding off of his lap so he could get up.

“Damn…it’s kinda cold.” He said as he stood. “Don’t need you thinking your man is a chump.” He said grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his waist to keep warm.

“Never” she assured him.

Chris walked over to his dresser and took a seat on his bed as he slid it open. An opened pack of Trojan Magnum XL stared back at him. The condoms were coming out of the box and over the top of it. Then there was one laid gently against a red rose. Chris was frozen.
