I came home and tossed my keys in the little bowl by the door.
Me: I'm home.
I walked into the kitchen and a strong smell of sauce and tomatoes hit me in my face.
C: Hey babygirl.
Me: Hi.
I gave him a kiss on the cheek.
C: I made your favorite, my special pasta sauce and pasta sqares with ricotta cheese.
Me: Mmm, sounds good.
I leaned up against the island counter.
C: So?
Me: So what?
C: How'd I do?
Me: You were okay.
I took the stirring spoon out of the pot and tasted the sauce.
C: Be honest.
Me: I am.
C: Did I make it?
Me: Did you put any garlic? Where's the garlic?
I went to the spice rack and looked through the spices.
C: I didn't then?
Me: I'm sorry, baby. You just...weren't good.
C: Oh...aight. I guess that's why Imma singer and not a model.
He smiled and I released my breath. He didn't get mad.
C: So, whatcha think of my sauce?
Me: It's good. But like I said, it needs Garlic.
I sprinkled some in the pot and he stirred it.
Me: Be right back, Imma go get my magazines.
C: Aight.
I went up to my room and found the magazine's that I had ment to read yesterday, but forgot about. I looked at the cover and gasped. It screamed, "KENNY AND CHRIS: EXPECTING A BABY?"
