The bus ride back to Atlanta was crazy; it took seven days and five different buses. I got off the bus and started walking toward my mother’s house. As I was walking a car pulled up beside me. When the window finally rolled all the way down I was surprised to see Dustin. He looked even more beautiful than I remembered. He was my high school sweetheart; he got accepted to Moorestown so I left. I didn’t do well enough in school to go to Spellman like we planned so I just left. I didn’t want to hold him back and I wanted him to be able to enjoy college so I just left. I didn’t tell anyone where I was going, probably because I didn’t even know my damn self, but I had to leave. Now four years later I’m back at home where I should have been all along. “Bri?” Dustin cleared his throat, “Brittani, is that you?” I felt my eyes begin to fill with tears. I didn’t want to so much as look at him, so you know speaking to him would be out of the question. I held my head down and kept walking. I knew Dustin inside and out, therefore I knew he wasn’t going to give up that easily, but I just didn’t want to see him. I didn’t want him to look in my eyes and see all of my thoughts. I didn’t want to tell him where I was and what I had been doing to get by. I couldn’t tell him, I know he would be so disappointed in me. Just as I said, he wasn’t giving up. He stopped the car and got out. “Michael, get back in the car.” Michael is his middle name and it’s what I call him when I am serious, but he didn’t stop, he kept walking towards me. He placed his hands on either side of my face and kissed me. I felt the pain that I had been holding on to for years slowly start to chip away. Tears spilled down my face and I pushed Dustin away, but he wouldn’t let me go. I started to freak out, pushing him and punching him in the chest until my hands throbbed in pain. I sobbed into his chest uncontrollably and Dustin just held me. Once I finally calmed down Dustin lifted my chin up so I could look at him. I looked up and saw red eyes and tear stained cheeks. “Brittani” He stopped talking and took a breath. “Where did you go? Why did you leave me?” His hands balled in to fists at his side. “You were my everything, I needed you.” I looked away and he turned may face back to him. “Are you going to say anything?” I don’t even know where to begin. “I, uh- well. It’s a long story. A story that should be told, but not out here, not like this.” Dustin nodded “I understand. Well maybe we can get together tonight or tomorrow night is okay if you’re tired.” I smiled. He’s still the same man, always so caring. “I am a little tired, but tonight is fine.” “Can I give you a ride home?” I hesitated. I know we have history, but I don’t want to just jump back into things with him. I could tell he was reading me. He smiled and his dimples drove me crazy. “It’s just a ride mi amor.” I sighed, “Alright.” We got in the car and headed to my mom’s house. I didn’t really want to talk so I lay back in the seat. Dustin had his phone hooked up to the car and it rang. He looked at the number and rolled his eyes. “Hello, what do you want Mesha? I’m so sick of your s***. Why am I even talking to you? Put my baby on the phone.” Baby? I sat up in my seat. I don’t even think he noticed I was still here. “Hey baby, what’s wrong? Daddy’s going to come get you in a minute. Yeah, we can go to Chuck E Cheese. I love you too. Tell your mom to get you ready. Bye baby girl.” He hung up the phone and sighed. I was wiping more tears from my face. “You have a daughter?” We pulled into the driveway. Dustin put the car in park. His hands were shaking, he tried to grab my hand and I moved my hand out of his grasp. “Bri” I crossed my arms over my chest. He shifted in his seat and looked out the window. “When you left, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep. I failed my first semester at Moorestown.” I put my hands in my lap and turned to face Dustin. “I felt so lost without you Bri, I didn’t know what to do. I- I uh started drinking, I mean real heavy.” I put my hand on his shoulder, but he didn’t turn around. “I only meant to go to the party for a little bit Brittani. Mesha was there and I was so mad at you so, I’m sure you can figure out the rest. “You f***ed Lamesha? And got her pregnant?” Dustin finally looked at me. “f*** you Dustin, f*** you.” I said through tears. I fled from the car and ran up to the front of the house. The front door opened and I saw her, my mother. She dropped the phone and I seen her eyes light up. I started crying uncontrollably. “Thank You Lord, Thank You for bringing my baby home.” I heard my mother say through her sobs. “Hush, now baby. It’s okay, you’re home.”

On stage I am free; it is as if all my problems disintegrate into the air all around me. “Drop & Gimme 50” came on and I went out on stage. There were always three different groups of men. There were the wanksters, dudes that aint really bout nothing, they think they s*** don’t stink. They’re the type of dudes that spend their rent on dancers just to get off. Then there are the older prestigious type men called sugar daddies, the ones that have money, doctors, lawyer, trying to find a hot box to make them feel young again and in turn they give you anything and everything. I could go that route, but I would much rather work for success. The last group of the three is the hustlers. They come in looking ordinary, well if they’re smart they do. They know how to have fun, they aren’t disrespectful and they got that guap. I made my way over to the hustlers and “Reverse Cowgirl” came on. I was on my way to the pole when I felt a hand on my elbow; I turned around and lost my balance a little when I saw that it was the guy from the bus stop. I think his name is Breezy. I didn’t really notice before, but he is gorgeous. I’m pretty sure my eyes widened in shock and my cheeks flushed red with embarrassment, but he didn’t say anything about it. He pulled me closer to him and whispered in my ear, “May I have this dance?” I looked at him like he was crazy and he smiled. His smile almost knocked me on my ass. I bit the inside of my cheek, why is this dude being so nice to me? Papi, the club owner who is always so overprotective of me gave me the head nod, which meant he was good. So as I was about to sit on him “reverse cowgirl” he stopped me. “I want you to look at me while you’re dancing.” I lifted my eyebrow then straddled his lap. When I danced with him I felt something I’ve never felt before. I didn’t feel like I was working for money, or that I was just counting down the minutes until the song would be over, it was actually the exact opposite. I loved feeling his warm breath on my skin. I loved the intensity his eyes held while watching me. I loved the feel of his big hands on my body. I didn’t want the song to end. And no sooner than that thought came to mind the song ended, and “Neighbors Know My Name” came on. Breezy whispered in my ear, “You’re all mine for the rest of the night. Papi seems to think I’m a good guy, which I am. So, I get you all to myself.” I smiled and just enjoyed being with him, I knew it would all end when the night was over so, I soaked in as much of him as I could. I was really getting a little tired of the slow music. As much as I love rubbing up all over him, I wanted to shake it for him. My DJ knows me so well and played my cut, “Rack City” by Tyga. I smiled and grabbed Breezy’s hand. I lead him over to the center stage and climbed up to my pole. I was in my zone and he just kept making it rain. I had fun. I actually enjoy dancing but when I'm working it isn't the same. With Breezy it’s different,it's like I’m dancing because I'm doing it for him. The club was winding down, dudes were grabbing girls to take home, and the girls weren’t declining. I love my girls but some of them have no class. I know, I have no room to talk but sometimes I feel like I deserve to be hit, I deserve to be treated like a slut. I chose this life, it didn’t choose me. I just got comfortable with the money and how fast it came, but I don’t want that anymore. Breezy looked at me with what looked like genuine concern. He pushed a strand of my curly hair back behind my ear. He was looking at me like he wanted to say something, but I just walked away before he could do it, before he could shatter what little remains of a heart I had.

Mimi was the girl that Chris helped out, Brittani is just Mimi's really close friend. Like a little sister.

Dang he a boss lol run this. N is brittani the girl dat Chris offered a ride to when chuck wudnt leav her alone?

Fear no man, Trust no one. That’s what my pops used to always tell me before he died. “Son, if you don’t take anything I tell you to heart if you’re going to live by the gun then keep these words close to you, “Fear no man, Trust no one” The only one person you should fear is God. If people spot fear, the will prey on you. Don’t give them that control over you. Trust no one in the game until you deem them trustworthy and then still keep a close eye on who you let in your circle, you understand?” My name is Christopher Maurice Brown, but in the streets I’m known as “Breezy” because I’m cold as ice. I’m not really a cold-hearted person. I am just good at what I do and I don’t like to be f***ed over. I am known for being the son of one of the most nefarious gangsters LA has ever seen. My father single handedly took out the only man more notorious than himself, Ricardo Alonzo Chavez. Ironically, my father died of terminal illness. After my father died my mom’s couldn’t even stand the sight of me because I was just like him. I love my mother and miss her more everyday, but she wanted me gone so I left seven years ago and have been on my grind ever since. When I had enough money saved up I went and got a GED, then went to college. I majored in Business Management, imagine that. I maybe a drug dealer, but I’m no fool. My pops taught me everything, not just about street life, but life in general as well. He would always tell me “People only know as much as you let them.”, which is true so I keep to myself. The biggest struggle I have in life is a dude named Ricky. Ricardo Alonzo Chavez Jr., to be exact. Name sounds familiar? Yeah my pops took out his father and there’s been a price on my head ever since. I always stay ten steps ahead of Ricky though. Now, I’m just relaxing, my boys wanted to go out tonight so I took a night off from the street to just enjoy chillin with my niggas.

Not quite! lol just stay posted you'll get it soon!

So brittani was da girl Chris tried to giv a ride to? N I love this run it I hope she calls ms.hawkins

By the time I made it to the club I didn’t have much time to get ready, I put my bag down in my chair, I looked over at Brittani’s vanity. I haven’t seen her in a few days. I’m so worried that Ricky may have found her. She’s like my baby sister; if anything happened to her I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. She’s only been doing this for a few years now, so I took her up under my wing. When she got to Ricky’s she was so impressionable, so I tried to show her the ropes, don’t take s*** from anyone and be about your business. I put on my outfit and sat down to do my makeup as Melody did my hair. When she finished I saw Brittani coming into the dressing room wearing a baby tee, jeans with a bag over her shoulder and a sweater in her arms. She ran over to me crying. “Baby, what’s wrong?” She hugged me. “I’m going home Mimi.” I pulled back and looked at her into her eyes. I wiped the tears from her face. “I went to church and I gave my life back to Christ.” The girls all made snide remarks and rolled their eyes. “Mimi, I have to get out of here. I can’t do this anymore.” I noticed Brittani looking around uncomfortably so I put on my robe and stepped outside. “Baby is everything okay? Ricky didn’t hurt you did he?” “No he didn’t, I went to this church down the street from the club.” Brittani was crying and talking fast because she was nervous. Having a relationship with the Lord and wanting to get out of this life is great. I’m so proud of her and I am happy for her. I have thought about going back to church, but I just know that God wouldn’t want anything to do with me anymore. “Mimi, Minister Hawkins helped me, she was so kind.” Brittani wiped her face. "Here” She handed me a card. “Call her Mimi, I told her about you; about how much you helped me and how much you loved me. She’s waiting for your call.” My eyes got watery, my baby girl, she’s such a sweetheart. Brittani hugged me with so much emotion and I felt the tears run down my cheeks. “I love you Mimi, I’ll be back when I get myself together okay?” I wiped the back of my hand across my face. “I love you too Bri, take your time mama and be careful.” I gave her a kiss on her forehead and she was off.

“Praise the Lord.” The congregation was a joy. I had never experienced so much love in an entire room like this before. I felt like a weight had been lifted off of me. Even though, I had showed up in an outfit from the club, shorts all up my butt, my stomach out, big hair, make up caked on my face and a dancers favorite shoe, UGG Boots. Many think it’s the heel, but it’s all about the boots. All though I showed up looking like I just finished working the pole which I did, no one judged me or frowned upon me, They welcomed me with smiles and open arms and for that I will be forever grateful. At the end of service there was an altar call. It was a chance for me to ask the Lord for forgiveness, a chance to repent for all of my wrong doing and start a new life in Christ Jesus. I walked to the altar to receive salvation. The minister prayed over me and said a prayer with me as I welcomed the Lord back into my life. All at once I began to call on the Lord and cry. As I did this the minister comforted me, encouraged me. She let me know that everything was going to be alright. She let me know that with the Lord on my side I can through anything. The minister helped me dry my tears and smiled at me. “I want you to know that the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you.” I nodded. “I’m Minister Hawkins, but you can call me Joyce. If you ever need anything, do not hesitate to call me.” I sniffled. “Thank you so much.” “Any child of God’s is like a child of mine.” Ms. Joyce gave me a kiss on the cheek along with a card. “I hope to see you around.”“I was actually planning on moving back home to stay with my mother for a while, I know she’ll be excited to hear that I am trying to do right and put God first in my life." Ms. Joyce went inside her purse. She pulled out a hundred dollars and placed it in my hand. “I know it isn’t much, but I couldn’t send you off without doing my part.” Tears formed in my eyes. “Thank you Ms. Joyce, my name is Brittani Washington; I’ll come back as soon as I am well enough and I will pay you back.” I wiped the tears from my eyes. “Nonsense, you just do the works of the Lord and watch what he does in your life.”
