This is technically my first story, I had started one but i didnt like it. Well, I hope u enjoy...
"Concrete Angel"
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete Angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete Angel
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete Angel

It rook me a few seconds for me to realize, THIS b**** JUST SLAPPED ME! Before I could even think about doing something, Chris came up to me, and grabbed me by my waist pulling me on the other side of the room, far away from Kiana.
“Calm down Imani,” Chris said calmly.
“I`m calm,” I said. My chest heaved up and down from my hard breathing. I was trying to calm myself I won`t kill her.
“Look Kiana, I think it`s best for you to leave,” Chris told Kiana.
“This is my house, I ain`t going NOWHERE!” Kiana said acting all bad.
“Hoe, sit your ass down, you ain`t bad for real. Me and you both know I`ll beat your ass senseless,” I said thinking aloud.
“She ain`t even worth the waste of your energy or time, just leave it alone,” Chris said, trying to persuade me out of fighting Kiana.
“Your right Chris,” I said nodding my head. He loosened his grip on me. “But I don`t mind wasting it to put this trick back in her place!” I said as I got out of Chris` grip and ran after Kiana. Before I could pull her hair, to turn her around, and punch her in her face, Chris grabbed me again.
“Don`t do it Imani. She ain`t worth it. You`re better than this. And if you hit her, you`ll stoop down to her level. Don`t do it. You`re better than this,” he said trying to get me from fighting her. And he was right.
“You right. She ain`t worth my energy or my time. I am better than this, and I`m better than her.” I guess he trusted what I said, because he let me go. Then Kiana cautiously came from behind the couch, and walked towards me. But not too close, because she knew I`d swing on her.
“Now you know better than to run that smart mouth of yours.”
“Aw shut up! Your scary ass was the one behind the couch,” I said.
She rolled her eyes. “Whatever. Plus, I didn`t come over here to argue and fight witchu, I came here to see my sister.”
“Well, maybe if you hadn`t ran off with the nigga, she would care to see you.”
“What the hell you mean be that?!”
“Just what I said. When you ran off with that boy, Toya felt like you was choosing him over her. Like she meant nothing to you. And because you ran off with that nigga, you could have just lost the only person in the world who cares about you.”
She rolled her eyes again. “Whatever. Since you won`t tell me where my sister is, I`ll be back later to see if she`s home.” She went to walk away but I turned her back around.
I KNO it ain`t much but I`ve been busy, and I`m also workin on 3 other stories

Before I could start our conversation back up, Imani walked out the room. I followed behind her. She sat on one end of the couch, and I sat on the other end. Then, she picked up the remote to the TV, and turned it on. She`s completely avoiding me and the conversation that we was about to get into. But I`m not surprised, she has been avoiding for the past 2 months. Even in our dreams she avoids me. I`m starting to think it`s because I told her who I was. And since I didn`t get to explain things to her, she doesn`t understand. So being around me probably makes her feel uneasy.
~*!*~I m a n i~*!*~
I know I`m wrong for avoiding Chris like that, but…I don`t know, it`s hard for me to explain.
I was flicking through channels, but nothing was on, I looked to see what DVDs they had. They had the second season of The Boondocks, so I put that in. The DVD was about 15 minutes in, when Kiana came in.
“Dang,” me and Chris both mumbled under our breathes at the same time. I chuckled. When Kiana started walking towards the couch, I tried my best to ignore her evil glares, and just keep my eyes on the TV. I didn`t want to have to cuss her out and embarrass her in front of Chris.
She sat down in Chris` lap, and tried to kiss him on his lips, but he QUICKLY turned his head, making her kiss his cheek. I laughed. Good move Chris, no telling whose d*** her lips have been rapped around today.
“What the hell you laughing at?” Kiana asked with attitude. Then she got up off of Chris` lap, and stood in front of me. She tried to put on a tough face, but I could see the shame in her face. Now, any other time, I would just ignore her, but I`ve had enough, and I`m not about to bite my tongue anymore.
“You,” I answered as I stood up too. My 5’7 frame was standing about 3 inches taller than hers, causing me to look down on her. “It`s a damn shame that you constantly throw yourself at him,” I said pointing to Chris, “and he continues to reject you. I guess you don`t take rejection too well because you don`t see that he don`t want you.”
She rolled her eyes at me. “Your just jealous.”
I chuckled. “Jealous? You think I`m jealous of you? NEVER that, honey! And why in thee hell would I be jealous of you?”
“Because NOBODY wants you, and, because I pull way more than you ever will.”
I laughed. “I`m sure PLENTY of boys would want me if I look or act like a hoe, like you do. And the only reason you would ever pull more dudes than me is because you give your pussy away faster than the speed of light,” I said talking fast. When I`m angry or upset, I talk fast.
“Whatever. I came here to see my sister. Where she at anyways?”
“Why does it matter? You wasn`t too concerned about her when you was busy screwing that boy!”
“b****, how about you shut up, and mind your own gotdamn business!!!!!” Kiana yelled, obviously having enough of what I was saying. Which is the TRUTH!
“And b****, how about you go do what you do best, and find some niggas d*** to suck!” As soon as those words left my mouth, I felt a stinging sensation on my left cheek. My right hand went to hold my left cheek. It rook me a few seconds for me to realize, THIS b**** JUST SLAPPED ME!

I raced towards the door to see, Toya with her legs wrapped around Jamal`s waist, and they was just tonguing each other down. I made a disgusted face at them.
“Yuck! Go on somewhere with all of that.”
“I`m saying, I can`t even get through the door.” I looked behind Jamal, and seen Chris.
“Don`t be hating,” Toya said as she got off of Jamal.
“Girl, ain`t NOBODY tryna hate on you,” I said as I rolled my eyes.
“Whatever. Anyways, y`all can come in.”
Jamal walked from in front of the door and into the living room, Toya followed behind him.
Chris turned around and yelled, “Aye, Ace, c`mon man!”
“A`ight I`m coming,” who ever Chris was yelling at, yelled back. I walked away, before the boy could make it inside, I didn`t feel like being around a lot of people…more like, I didn`t feel like being around Chris.
~*!*~C h r i s~*!*~
When I walked in the living room, Toya and Jamal was all hugged up on each other, sitting on the loveseat. I sat on the couch. I noticed that Toya was looking at Ace funny when he walked in.
“I don`t think I`ve seen you around before. Who are you?” Toya asked Ace.
“Baby, that`s Anthony but everybody call him Ace, Ace this my baby Toya,” Jamal said introducing them.
“Nice to meet you,” Toya said as she shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you too,” Ace said and then sat down on the other end of the couch.
“So,” was the last thing I heard from Toya`s mouth after walking out the room to go find Imani. I was walking by Toya`s room, and seen Imani unpacking. I knocked on the door to let her know I was standing at the door. When she looked up and seen me, she frowned at me. What`s wrong with her?
“Hey,” I said.
“Um…h-hey,” she said uneasily.
“You`re staying here?” I asked her as I looked at the suitcase on the bed, and then back at her.
“Yea, for a while,” she answered. I walked over to the bed and sat down. I looked around the room, it hasn`t changed too much from the last time I saw it, when I was ten. After a few minutes of silence she spoke up. “What are you doing back here?” Imani asked. She had finished unpacking, but she was moving around the room. I figured she`s trying to avoid me.
“I wanted to know where you were,” I answered her question.
“Oh,” she said simply. There was once again, an awkward silence.
“So, how`s everything going?” I asked breaking the silence between us. “Since you`ve been avoiding me for 2 months, I haven`t really got the chance to talk to you.”
She sighed. “I`m sor—”
“No need for an apology,” I said cutting her off. “I just wanna k—”
“Hey, me, Jamal and Ace is going to the corner store. Y`all wanna come?” Toya asked standing at the door, interrupting our conversation.
“No,” Imani answered.
“Me either.”
“Alright. Y`all want anything?”
“A bag of Flaming Hots and a Big Red,” I responded.
“A`ight, you want something Mani?”
“Five packs of Now-and-Laters, a bag of Doritos, and a cherry Coca-Cola.”
“A`ight, we`ll be back.” With that, Toya left.

It took about ten minutes for Toya to get herself together.
“So, what do you wanna do today?” I asked Toya to hopefully cheer her up.
“It really don`t matter to me,” she said, and then sighed.
I smacked my lips. “Forget Kiana, if she wanna be like that then letter. Don`t let h—” Toya cut me off.
“That`s the problem Mani, I can`t,” she said as she shook her head. “But…I guess I won`t let her ruin my fun. I mean, I just got home after being in some strict ass boot camp.”
I smiled, and then hugged her. “Now that`s the Toya I know.” When I let go of her, she smiled at me.
“Thank you Imani.”
“No problem. I`m your cousin, and friend, that`s what I`m her for.” She smiled, and hugged me again. “Now c`mon so we can help each other unpack.”
“You staying here?” Toya asked confused.
“Yea, until my parents get back. Them, and your momma went to go stay with Granddaddy, because he`s sick.”
“Oh. So, how long will that be?”
“I don`t know. A month or more.”
She smiled a devious smile. “We got the house to ourselves for a month.”
“No, Frank is s`pose to watch us.” Her smile quickly fell.
“I can`t believe this,” she said as she shook her head. “That nasty, perverted bastard!”
I sighed. “Well, lets go unpack,” I said trying to take our minds off the subject.
“A`ight.”
We walked into Toya`s room, and started unpacking. While we was doing that, we was talking, laughing, reminiscing, and just having a good ole time. Then the doorbell rung.

“I`m sorry girl, but I gotta go. Talk to you later. BYE!” Kiana said, and then walked out the door. I looked over at Toya and seen her head down, when she noticed I was looking at her, she looked up. That`s when I seen her tears. I walked over to her and hugged her tightly. She hugged me back, and cried on my shoulder.
“Shhh, it`s alright, it`s going to be OK. Shhh,” I said trying to console her.
“Why does she have to be just like her? Why?” Toya questioned. I didn`t know who she was referring to when she said ‘her,’ so I didn`t know the answer to the question. The only thing I could do was try my best to console her. After a few minutes she gathered herself together.
“Sit down on the couch, while I go get you some tissue.” She just nodded. I walked in the bathroom and got some tissues, came back, and gave them to her. She wiped her face.
“I just don`t understand,” she said as she shook her head from side to side. “Why is she so much like her?”
“What do you mean by ‘her,’ Toya?” I asked the question that was lingering in my mind ever since she mentioned ‘her.’
“Our mom. When we were younger, she always told me that she hated momma for not acting like a mother, and that she never wanted to be like that when she grew up. BUT here she is leaving her family for some man. I mean, I haven`t spent time with my sister for SIX months, and she can`t even stop smiling in some niggas face long enough, to just ask me how I`m doing. And I`m just sitting back thinking, ‘what the f***. We haven`t seen each other in six months, but you rather spend some time with some nigga. Don`t I mean something to you?’ I mean, he`s NEVER going to love or care about you as much as I do, hell, I`m basically all she got. Matter-of-fact I AM, all she got. But she blow my off for some nigga?!” Then she really broke down in tears. I could hardly even understand what she was saying. “I risked my f***ing freedom for that b****, and not only she deny what was true, she didn`t even THANK me!!!!!” She yelled as she burst into more tears. All I could do was hug her, pat her back, and let her vent. After a few minutes her crying slows down. And she wipes the tears, but they keep falling from her eyes. “I don`t even know why I`m crying, I mean, she has changed a while back, so I don`t know why I didn`t expect this from her. All I wanna know is, where is my little sister? The Kiana I know. Not the one I see today.”
“Me too, Toya. Me too,” I said truthfully. Me and Kiana was best friends, but when she ‘changed,’ so did our friendship.

“What momma?!” Kiana yelled back.
“Girl, don`t you ‘what’ me. Getcha ass down here, and help your cousin with these bags.”

“ I can`t believe I have to live under the same roof as you, for a month or more,” Kiana said.
I rolled my eyes at her dramatic ass. “The feeling`s mutual. So, where am I staying?”
“You were suppose to be sleeping in my room, but I don`t want you to be in my room. `Cause I`ll throw up every time I look at you.“

“Hey y`all, I`m home!” Toya yelled excitedly, as she walked through the door. My incensed facile expression softened as soon as I seen Toya. After her and Kiana, hugged, she walked over to me and we shared a loving embrace.
“It`s so good to see you home,” I said.
“It`s good to be home,” she said as I felt a tear fall onto my shoulders. I pulled away from her and wiped her tears.

“Hey boo!” she said enthusiastically. “Nothing…a`ight I`ll come by, but the visit will be short, because my sister`s here…yea…OK see you in a bit babe.” She flipped the phone closed, disconnecting the call. “I`m about to go spend some time with my boo, but I`ll catch up with you later sis,” she said as she walked towards the door.

I groaned as I rolled over on my left side, trying to block the Saturday morning sun. It has been two months since the day we visited Toya, meaning, Toya will be coming home today. I`m so excited! I`m also excited that school ended two weeks ago. I lazily got up from my bed, and did my hygiene. I got dressed in a XL red T-shirt, and capris, two sizes too big. After I put my hair in a neat bun, I walked into the kitchen to see Trisha at the table eating.
“Good Morning,” she smiled.
I smiled back. (A REAL smile) “Morning.”
A lot can change in two months, and one of those things was me and Trisha`s relationship. It turns out that the reason she started acting nice, was because she felt sorry for, and felt bad for what she did, and what she let happen. I forgave her and we formed a tight relationship.
Has two months changed anything with me and my daddy? NO! But there has been some change. He isn`t around as much as he used to be, but when he is, he still rapes and beats me. But Trisha helps me cope with this so I won`t go back to drugs. I`ve told her everything (even though she already knew). She was the only person I told besides of Kiana.
Speaking of Kiana, we`re still not on good terms, but I really don`t care. I see as this, if she wants to continue hating me (FOR NO REASON), then I`ma let her. It seems like her mind about me has already been made up.
I haven`t talked to Chris, or anybody else. I`ve been keeping to myself a lot more lately.
“So, what are you doing today?” Trisha asked as a sat down with my plat full of homemade biscuits, eggs and bacon, and a glass of Tropicana® Orange juice.
“Nothing really. I`m probably going to go see Toya, since she comes home today.”
“Since you will be over there, I`m sure you won`t mind staying over for a while?” Trisha stated as a question, but it seemed more like a statement.
“No, I can`t stand Kiana, and she can`t stand me.”
“Well, I suggest y`all needed to learn how to get along, because your going to be staying there for a while.”
“FOR WHAT?!”
“Well, your grandfather`s sick, and we`re going to go help him get nursed back to health Your auntie Nikki is coming with us too.”
“OK, so who are we staying with?”
“Nikki`s husband, Frank.”

When I got home, I called Auntie Lisa and told her I was home. When I got off of the phone I was heading towards my room, when I felt someone grab my arm. I knew it was no other than my step-dad Frank.
“Where the hell have you been?” Frank asked in a hushed tone. I`m guessing my mother was asleep, and he didn`t want to wake her. I turned around and looked at his hand gripping my arm. Then I looked at him, as if saying, ‘let go of my arm.’ He looked at me like I was crazy, and gripped my arm tighter.
“AH!” I winced in pain. “Can you let go please. Please,” I begged. He smiled. He was amused by my begging. He let go. As soon as he let go my left hand began to rub my arm, trying to sooth the pain.
“Now answer the question.”
“I was over my cousins house,” I answered truthfully. Something I didn`t do too often. He punched me in my stomach. I bent over in pain.
“That`s for lying. You was probably over some niggas house. Get the f*** outta my face, hoe.”
I did as I was told and walked to my room. As I was taking off my clothes to put on my pajamas I silently cried. I put up with this everyday, while Imani lives her perfect life. I envy her! I hope that people see that the things she says are all LIES! I hope people see through her lies and realize that she is a sick and twisted person, and just wants attention.

At the age of 11, YOUR father, who is MY uncle took my virginity! THEN, I`m beat by my step-father everyday! And my mother LETS him! You don`t know how it feels for your OWN mother to let someone beat on their children, all because she wants to stay with him for the money! YOU DON`T KNOW HOW IT FEELS! YOU DON`T KNOW NOTHING AT ALL, BECAUSE YOUR LIFE IS SO DAMN PERFECT!”
“’Perfect.’ You think MY life, Imani Monique Richardson`s, life is PERFECT?!?!!! Honey, you don`t know the HALF of it!” I yelled angrily. I CAN`T believe the reason she hated me was because she THOUGHT my life was perfect. She was basically hating me for NOTHING, because my life ain`t perfect. It`s FAR from it! I was just so, so…ANGRY at her accusations. She doesn`t know NOTHING about what goes on in my life, and yet she still judges me. “YOU`RE the one that doesn`t know nothing. YOU don`t have a damn clue on what goes on in my life. Lemme tell you what goes on behind closed doors. On my 10th birthday my father took my innocence. He told me that I was growing, and that I should be doing ‘grown up things.’ And in that same year, he killed the three people closest to me. He shot and killed my momma, my Godmother and my Godbrother, because I told them what he did to me. Chris…he died right in my arms. It was supposed to be ME who died, but he died, because he took that bullet for ME. And I blame myself everyday for their deaths, because, if I wouldn`t have told, he wouldn`t have killed them. And since then, he has been beating and raping me every-damn-day! My step-mother verbally and physically abuses me everyday. THEN, after dealing with everything at home, I have to come to school, and put up with your s***, and everybody else’s. So, for the past week, I`ve been snorting heroin to deal with that pain. I`ve been through hell, and I`m STILL going through it!” I spat viscously. Then I pointed a finger into her face and said, “So, don`t you DARE say I don`t know how it feels!” With that, I stormed up the driveway, leaving her there looking stupid.
“LIAR!” She yelled. I turned back around with the quickness.
“LIAR?! You think I`m LYING! Why the f*** would I lie about something as SERIOUS as that?!?!” I asked angrily. Naw man, angry is not even the word. Hell, I was MORE than pissed off, I was ENRAGED! I can`t believe she thought I lied about that.
“Because…you just wanna make me to feel guilty,” she answered. “You made all that stuff up, so that I could feel guilty for hating you, because your life was perfect. But guess what, it didn`t work!” This girl is UNBELIEVEABLE.
“Do you know how crazy you—” I stopped myself. “You know what, forget it. You don`t have to believe me. It doesn`t affect me one way or another.” With that said, I walked into the house. When I walked in Trisha walked out of the Kitchen.
“Hey. So how was—Imani, are you OK?” Is what she asked, but I interpreted, “Hey Imani, I`m full of s***.” She has never been concerned about me so why start now.
“I`m fine,” I said as I was about to walk away.
“You sure? Because it looks like you`ve been crying.”
I wiped my eyes. I didn`t even realize I was crying. I guess I was so overwhelmed from telling Kiana off. “I`m fine.” I smiled one of the most fakest smiles.
“Alright,” she said unconvinced, and then walked away. I walked into my room and grabbed my pj`s. Then, I took a shower. Even though I was TIRED. I just couldn`t go to sleep. I was too busy thinking about what had happened. But my mind would quickly slip away from those thoughts when he came into my room. Hopefully he won`t...

“Because,” she started, “…because your life is SO damn perfect! And I want it!” She yelled at me as she broke out into tears. “You don`t know the stuff I`ve been through, so I make your life a living hell so you can feel my pain!!! Ate the age of 10, YOUR father, and MY uncle took my virginity! THEN, I`m beat by my step-father everyday! And my mother LETS him! You don`t know how it feels for your OWN mother to let someone beat on their children, all because she wants to stay with him for the money! YOU DON`T KNOW HOW IT FEELS! YOU DON`T KNOW NOTHING AT ALL, BECAUSE YOUR LIFE IS SO DAMN PERFECT”
“’Perfect.’ You think MY life, Imani Monique Richardson`s, life is PERFECT?!?!!! Honey, you don`t know the HALF of it!” I yelled angrily. I CAN`T believe she thought MY life was perfect. It`s FAR from it! I was just so, so…ANGRY at her accusations. She doesn`t know NOTHING about what goes on in my life, and yet she still judges me. “YOU`RE the one that doesn`t know nothing. YOU don`t have a damn clue on what goes on in my life...”

~*!*~I m a n i~*!*~
The whole ride to the boot camp was silent. But Kiana would occasionally look my way, and give me dirty looks. But I wasn`t even sweatin her. I came her to see Toya, not argue with this dumb broad over nothing. I don`t even know why she gotta problem with me, because I know I didn`t do nothing to her. But I`m getting feed up with that stank attitude of hers. I just hope she don`t start nothing with me.
When we got into the visiting room, I seen Toya looking off in space, as if she was thinking about something. We walked over there, and I tapped her on the shoulder.
“`Mani! (PRONOUNCED: MON-E ~ Just Like, Imani witout tha 'I')” Toya exclaimed, using my nickname.
“Hey Toya,” I said as we pulled into a hug.
“I`m so glad you made it,” Toya said after we pulled out of our hug.
“Me too.” Hell, I was even surprised that b**** let me go. Something`s up with her, `cause she has been nice lately. A little TOO nice.
“Dang, I know you see me here,” Kiana said interrupting our conversation.
“Hey Ki,” Toya said as she walked over and hugged Kiana.
“Hey sis,” Kiana said with a smile. After they pulled away from their hug, she hugged Auntie Lisa. Then we all sat down. Me and Kiana next to me, Auntie and Toya sat across from us.
“So, how have you been doing?” Auntie asked.
“Good. How have you been?”
“Good.”
“So, wat was it that you wanted to tell us?” Kiana asked.
“Dang Ki. Why you rushing? Do you got somewhere to go?” Toya asked.
“No, I`m just curious.”
“Well, I get out in 2 months. They cut my sentence shorter because of my good behavior,” Toya said while smiling.
“That`s good Toya!” I said enthusiastically.
“Yup!” Kiana and Auntie Lisa agreed.
“I know, I`m so happy. I can`t wait to come home. I did have fun here, and I learned a lot about myself, but I miss my family and friends.”
“We missed you too girl,” Kiana said with a smile.
“Yea. I really missed you,” I said, agreeing with Kiana. I really did miss Toya like crazy, she was the only person I talked to.
“I feel so special,” she joked, as she pretended to cry, and wipe tears from her eyes. We laughed.
“You wasn`t that missed,” Kiana joked. We laughed again.
“Whatever. Y`all KNOW y`all missed me. Y`all was probably all lost and miserable without me.”
“Girl boo,” me and Kiana said in unison, and then we laughed. But truth was, I really was miserable without her. She was somebody I could talk to, it helped me get my mind off the things that went on at “home.” We kept on joking around for a while, when Toya asked a random question.
“So, how`s everything at home?” Me and Kiana both got quiet.
“Good…I guess,” Kiana answered. I was frozen. All that ran through my head, was the events that took place last night. That beaten was more worse than any one I received. For the rest of the time I was quiet, all I thought about was what went on yesterday in my “home.”
“`Mani…Imani…IMANI!” Toya yelled, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Huh?”
“I asked, you if you were OK, `cause you`ve been quiet,” Toya repeated herself.
“Yea, I`m fine. I was just thinking.”
“About what?” She asked.
“Nothing important,” I answered.
“You sure you OK?” Auntie Lisa asked concerned.
“Yes, I`m fine Auntie.”
“OK.” Auntie said. “Well, we better get going. C`mon y`all. Bye Toya.”
“Bye y`all,” Toya said, after she gave the three of us a huge.
***
On our drive back home Kiana was giving me dirty looks, like before. That flaky trick! When we was visiting Toya, we was laughing and talking together. Why was she being mean to me now? I just didn`t understand her.
When we pulled up into my driveway, I got out and so did Kiana.
“Where yo u going?” Me and Auntie Lisa asked.
“I have to talk to Imani. I`ll just walk home when I`m done talking to her,” Kiana answered us.
“No, I`ll wait for you, and then drive you home.”
“No Auntie, I`ll be fine. You can go on home.”
Auntie sighed. “Alright. Just make sure to call me when you get home.”
“A`ight. Bye Auntie.”
“Bye-Bye Kiana. Bye Imani.”
“Bye Auntie.”
When she pulled off, Kiana smile turned into a mug, and she turned towards me.
“Why did you do that?” She asked.
“Do what?” I asked bewildered.
“You`re little ‘silent treatment’ that you gave when we seen Toya. You had her and Auntie concerned about you. You ALWAYS want attention.”
“Man, whatever. I`m not about to deal with you right now Kiana,” I said as I was about to walk away, when she grabbed me and turned me around.
“I ain`t done withcu.” I looked at her like she was crazy. Then I looked down at her hand that gripped tightly around my arm.
“What the hell is your problem?! Grabbing me like that. You done lost ya damn mind,” I said and then snatched away from her. “What`s with you anyways?! Why do you ‘hate’ me so much?” I asked a question that I always wanted the answer to, after she “stopped liking me.”
“You wanna know why I ‘hate’ you so much? Do you REALLY wanna know?!” She asked, seeming to be irritated by me.
“YES!” I yelled my answer.
awwww
im glad she gettin out earlier..
RUN IT!!
~*!*~J a m a l~*!*~
When I walked into the visiting room, I immediately spotted Toya in a light brown jumpsuit, and her head was done in cornrows. Even though she had that on, she still looked sexy to me. When we made eye contact, we ran into each others arms. Dang, I missed my baby.
“I missed you so much,” Toya whispered in my ear.
“I missed you too babe,” I whispered back in her ear.
Once we pulled apart, she had a confused expression on her face.
“Where`s Kiana and Imani?” Toya asked.
“They should be coming in about 30 minutes,” I answered.
“OK. So, who`s bringing them?”
“My momma.”
“Then, who brought you?”
Just then Chris and Auntie Joyce walked into the room, and over to us.
“You`re have to sit down for this,” I said to Toya. I pulled out her chair, and she sat down, I sat next to her. Auntie and Chris set on the other side of us.
“I know exactly what you`re thinking. It IS me. I`m Chris,” he said looking her directly in the eyes. “I know you thinking I`m crazy right now, but just listen. God sent me and my momma her to help save Imani and Kiana. I understand if you don`t, but do you believe me?” Chris asked.
She nodded. “Yea, I believe you. I can see the sincerity in your eyes. And it`s like, I can feel it. Like, when I seen y`all, there was a feeling that came over me, letting me know that, y`all was exactly who I thought y`all was. But this is a lot to take in.”
“We understand sweetie,” Auntie Joyce said as she grabbed Toya`s hand, as if to assure her. Toya smiled as she got up and hugged Auntie. After hugging Auntie, she hugged Chris.
“It`s so good to see y`all again,” Toya said as she sat back down.
“Shoot, I`m glad to be back.” Chris said with a smile. “Even though it`s only for a certain amount of time.” His smile faded and turned into a frown.
“What do you mean?” Toya asked Chris confused.
“After we`re done saving Imani and Kiana, we go back home, to heaven.”
Toya sighed. “Well, that sucks.”
Chris let out a chuckle. “I know.”
“I gotta question. what do you mean you have to ‘save’ Kiana and Imani? Save them from what?” Toya asked curiously.
“Well,” Auntie Joyce started, “it`s not exactly ‘saving’ them, it`s more like helping them. Like, in Kiana`s case, her problems go much deeper than just a personality change that some teens experience. Some of the things that she experienced caused her personality cha—”
“What are those ‘things’ that she experienced?” Toya asked in a concerned tone, cutting Auntie off.
“Well, that`s the first step of her recovery. She has to admit what happened to her, and come at peace with it. To learn that those things are in the past, and it doesn`t affect her future unless she allows it. And to forgive that person for what they`ve done. And Imani,” she said as she shook her head, “she`s really doing bad. Just like Kiana, she has changed, because all that she has been through. Imani has been through a lot, and it has broken her, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. That`s what we`re here for. To help them become stronger, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Do you understand?”
“Yea, a li`l bit. What I`m stuck on is what happened to them, that I didn`t see?”
“Some people may never know what goes on behind closed doors. Plus, they do a good job of hiding their pain.”
“But, I just feel so guilty,” she said as she began to tear up. Auntie grabbed her hand.
“Don`t be. You wouldn`t have noticed, just like everyone else.”
“Yea,” I said stepping into the conversation. “I never noticed.”
“I guess y`all right.” She sighed. “Do you think I can get some type of info outta them?” Toya asked Auntie.
“I don`t know. It`s possible though,” she answered.
“Oh my goodness!” Toya squealed.
“What?” We all asked.
“I forgot to tell y`all.”
“Tell us what?” I asked curiously.
“The main reason I asked y`all to come. I wanted to tell y`all that I get out in 2 months.”
“For real?!” I asked excitedly.
“Yea. They cut my sentence shorter because of my good behavior.”
“well that`s good baby,” I said as I hugged her.
“Yea,” Chris agreed.
“I`m proud of you Toya,” Auntie said.
“Thank you.” She smiled, that beautiful smile of hers.
Just then a guard came up to Toya. “You have more visitors,” the guard said.
“Alright,” Toya said.
“Well, that`s probably Lisa and the girls, we`re gonna go, OK Toya,” Auntie said.
“Alright. Bye y`all. I`ma see y`all in 2 months,” she said with a smile. After we said our goodbye`s and gave hugs we left.
