Lake Side City; Well-known for deciding two realities for you
1. Your dreams and aspirations, or
2. Your nightmares and struggles
In the Northern suburbs of Lake Side City,. Where the street lights glow golden and the alley-ways are safe enough to walk through, is where my two best friends and I live. We were born and breed in the heart of the Northern suburbs, drowned in the culture and traditions of our close-knit community. The territory belonged to, and is protected by the Himiona Family; they own nearly the entire city.
If you be good to the city, the city will be good to you.
A lot of things happen throughout the streets of the city, not so much in the Northern end, if there is, then it`s normally only from word of mouth that would spread it around, since its very secretive. The southern end is more rough-neck, hoodlums, ghetto or what ever you want to call it. And the outskirts are as dangerous but in that rich scandalous type of drama.
Three best friends, similar in everyway, yet completely different.
Three separate journeys on the same path.

I sat, wrapped in a mink blanket staring out the window of my old bedroom at my mother’s house. It was cracked open enough for a small crispy breeze to snake its way into the warmth. Although it was as cold as it was, it was definitely a welcoming touch as I stared through the feather-weight snowflakes that floated down towards the street below.
From the way the snow snuggled perfectly into every crevice of the buildings and footpath like the smooth icing on a birthday cake. To the way the car tires sliced through the snow that continuously powdered across the road. I was mesmerized by the perfection of the leaves on the trees branches and how they were frozen in time, for the time being.
I wished I could have been frozen in time, a time that wasn’t my own, or even to go back in time to happier times, and freeze those moments forever.
I heard a disturbance behind me as my door creaked open and the smell of hot creamy chocolate and marshmallows engulfed my room. “Darling, I made you this” my mother’s melodic voice almost sang, breaking the dead silence I had created within my universe.
I gave a small thankful smile as I turned to look at her. She placed the mug of hot chocolate down on my study desk that was next to me as she took up the vacant space on window seat I was occupying.
She brushed the hair that had fallen over my face, behind my ear, “How are you doing love?” she asked in the most caring and sincere voice as I felt the ache in the back of my throat once again, my lips quivered as the tears began to swell.
I tried to look away as she turned my head back around and lightly wiped the tears that fell from my bloodshot eyes, “you can`t continue this baby, it`s not healthy for you.” She said as I moved away from her and shook my head
“I`m fine mom, really” I said rubbing my hand over hers as she removed her hand and held mine
“I called your Aunty Anna out west, she`s already put everything into place and you will go live with her, I can`t have you in this city, not if all it does is remind you of pain” she continued as I snatched my hand away and turned back towards the street below.
“I don`t want to leave this city, it`s all I have left of him, of them, of everything that meant anything to me, you can`t take that away from me” I said as the tears began to fall again
“I`m not letting you dwell in this misery, I hate to see you hurt baby and this is the only thing I can do to help you” she said as I turned to her in disgust.
‘If you really want to help me, then leave me alone” I retorted as I turned my head back towards the streets.
I heard her sigh, “Your aunt flies in tomorrow, with your ticket” my mother sad with a crack in her voice, I didn`t turn around.
“Leave me with my misery, I like it here” I said as I felt her step closer to me, the heat from her hand began to warm my shoulder, before it went cold.
“I won`t let my beautiful daughter dwell in her own misery, if it`s the last thing I do” she said before walking out.
I stood and let the blanket fall to the ground, I unlatched the window and pushed it open as my hair danced in the wind. I inhaled the frozen air as I latched my arms on each side of the windowsill, kicking off one of my feet to pull myself up onto the ledge.
The tears that dripped down my cheeks slowed their speed and froze into place as I looked down at the streets below me, then to the sky as I closed my eyes and smiled.

I quickly sat up on my bed and swung my feet out and placed them lightly on the cemented floor, I looked towards the door as a smile crept along my lips. I watched as the shadowed figure darkened the white door as the locks unbolted and the doctor walked in.
“Are you ready Skye-Lynne?” he asked as I stood up and straightened my clothing
“Of course Dr. Phillips” I replied politely and followed him down the hallway
We stopped outside Dr. Demetrius`s door as Dr. Phillips stood to the side. “Remember, be honest, be realistic, and be ready for the outcome no matter what it is, ok?” he as I smiled and nodded.
“Of course Dr. Philips, I`m ready for the outside world” I replied as I walked in and closed the door behind me
“Hello Skye-Lynne, are you ready for today’s session?” Dr. Demetrius or Dr. D for short, asked as I nodded and proceeded to sit on the leather sofa.
“So we will pick up from where we left off in our last session, what do you think about that?” Dr D asked as I shook my head.
“I`m ready to go home now, I need to go and fix a few things” I replied as he stared at me then sighed.

We sat in the booth and stared into each others eyes and smiled, our clothes torn and bodies battered and bruised but we were alive.
“Are you two ok?” a waitress asked with concern as we kept staring into each others eyes, he reached over the tables and took my hand into his grasp and interlocked our fingers before breaking the stare to look at the waitress.
“We`re fine now, two coffees and the menu please” he said to the waitress as she hesitantly nodded and walked back to her waitress station to make our coffees.
“We`ll have to return back to the city sooner or later” he said as I nodded
“I know, but let`s not ruin the moment with business” I smiled as the waitress returned with the coffee and handed us a menu each. I smiled as she walked away.
I used the napkin to wipe the blood away from my face as he looked at me, “Leave it, you look beautiful” he said as I blushed
“I look like I was in a car crash” I said as he placed the menu down and chuckled
“We were in a car crash bae, after a car chase, kidnapping, deals gon` wrong, and lastly betrayal” he said as I rolled my eyes
“Just because we were in that doesn’t mean we have to look like it as well.”
“I stand by what I said before, you look beautiful, just leave it” he said standing and leaning over the table to kiss me, my lip was busted but he didn’t care and the pain was already numb.
For every action there is a consequence, for every consequence there is someone affected.
