Clouds Over Brooklyn (Repost)

Brooklyn is a 20 year-old artist from Brooklyn, New York. Lost her mother at a young age and lived with her father, who eventually married Tangie - a cold woman that made Brooklyn's life a living hell.

Brooklyn, in love with street murals, was arrested after getting caught doing a mural on a billboard in Manhattan. When the city woke the next morning, as she sat behind bars, a very established Chris Brown woke up to find Brooklyn's mural across the street from his Manhattan apartment. He was intrigued immediately.

After jail, and a court order to stay the f*** away from street murals, Brooklyn ventured to the art district where she met Hadley, a gallery owner and artist herself, who agreed to let Brooklyn work in the gallery. They became close, and built a very strong bond.

While working with Hadley, she found out that her older brother, Brian, died while overseas serving the country. His death hit her hard. He was her heart. She eventually moved in with Hadley, who exposed her to city life. During one of Hadley's gallery openings, Chris Brown came in and he and Brooklyn were introduced to one another. He loved her art.

After building a friendship with Chris - one that was stimulating, intellectually and artistically, they grew close, despite Chris' long distance relationship with Karreuche. When she returned, they became quite distant. Brooklyn was dragged to an industry party with Hadley where she met Aubrey Drake Graham.

Hesitant at first, she agreed to meet with him and the two of them became friends. She even went on tour with him - but that didn't last. Against everything that Brooklyn stood for, she could not and would not live that fast paced lifestyle. So she broke things off with Aubrey - after they had taken their relationship to a physical level. She was known for that.

After she returned, she came home to find that Brian, her brother, had a wife and son, Josiah. She began to spend time with her nephew, searching for pieces of her brother. She fell for Josiah, and noticed a strain on his relationship with his mother, Marissa.

Tangie's daughter, Brianna, was beginning to hang with the wrong crowd, and it was painful for both Tangie and Brooklyn, who loved her dearly. At one of Hadley's openings, a man presented himself to Brooklyn and offered her the opportunity to come to LA and do some art with his company. Brooklyn pondered the idea, seeking opinions from both Hadley and Chris - neither of them wanted her to go. Chris even poured out his heart to her - and kissed her - in front of hundreds of cameras.

When Brooklyn went to see Chris, and ask him to come with her to LA, Chris revealed that his new girlfriend was there to stay. He wouldn't be joining her. A broken-hearted Brooklyn went to LA, cut her hair and began a new life.

She bought an art gallery and met a hottie named Peyton that she got a littttttleeee friendly with, earlier than she should've. Hadley advised her not to, and was angry when she found out that she did. Chris was back in the picture. He wanted Brooklyn to do his album artwork, so she did, but she didn't want anything to do with 'em!

They argued a little, but their bond was stronger than they thought. Due to negative publicity, Chris' label told him to take time off, so he moved to be closer to Brooklyn. While out in LA, Brooklyn found out about the death of her sister, Brianna. She returned to Brooklyn, where old memories of her mother's death and of Brian's death caught up with her. She returned to LA, to find a supportive Chris there. He poured his heart out (again nigga?) and Brooklyn accepted.

Now together, the two of them attended the Video Music Awards, where Brooklyn felt out of place and uncomfortable in what she was wearing. She didn't wanna go, but she did for Chris. When she got there, she realized that it wasn't at all what she hoped for - she was alone for the majority of the show. She did however, meet Rihanna. Score! Drake came and joined her and Chris saw from backstage. He wasn't too happy. What will he say?

Aww Im glad Hadley made BK watch the interview she needed to see it. Ugh this b**** Robyn got some nerve. How dare she come at Brooklyn like that man I kinda wish the old BK would've came out and smacked dat hoe ugh lol.. She just made cause Chris confessed he's still feeling BK on national TV. And she couldnt take it. Jealous azz bytch. Hadley a trip to lol.
Geron Geron Geron, not only is he hott, but he brought her chocolate too, cuddos for that. He seems to be diggin our little BK too wanting to know more about her and her life. Uh oh, could he be a potential mate for BK, lets hope so.
Now Chris damn knew his ass was gone make his presence know, and I cant believe he told Robyn some of BK's most intimate issues, esp. the ones about her sister and fam, He had no business doing that. Now he wants to talk, hmm cant wait to see how this goes, hope the papz dont catch him w/ BK. IJS.

Rihanna done pissed me the f*** off like why the f*** you coming to Brooklyn like that??? She shoulda layed them hands on you cause her hoe ass needed to be slapped!!!&&The interview was touching because he basically admitted to still loving Brooklyn and wanting to be back with her is probably not the best thing right now but maybe later on b/c Chris really and truly broke her heart:///

LONG ASS ADD. I'm finished. Lol. Goodnight and run it.

I sat in the middle of the floor in my gallery, when the door opened. I didn't bother to turn around. The person slid a Hershey's bar next to me. I looked over at it and then over my shoulder to see Geron. I smiled and picked up the bar, ripping the wrapper open.

"How'd you know?" I asked.

"You just look like a chocolate girl." He said, sitting down next to me and mirroring me.

He was facing me. I looked over at him and popped part of it in my mouth. He smiled at me.

"What do you do in here? Just stare at the walls?" He asked.

"I'm actually painting in my head." I said, my mouth full. "Trying to decide what I want up here. What's missing..." I said softly. "Have you seen your add in Vibe Magazine?" I asked, smirking.

He nodded. "It's cool. Did you like it?" He asked, searching my face.

" looked cute." I said, nodding and biting my lip.

He stroked my chin, "You should let me take you out." He said, smiling.

"When?" I asked.

He shrugged, "Whenever you have time for me. I know that you're so busy...painting in your head." He said, laughing.

"Well I'm free now...if you wanna go grab some food." I said, searching his face.

"Please. I'm starving." He said, standing up and reaching his hand out.

I grabbed his hand and hopped up before I went into the back and grabbed my wallet and keys. I walked back out into the front and turned off the lights. We left and I locked up before I grabbed his hand and hung close to him as we walked down the street. It was a Friday evening so there were people out, in the art district, displaying different things. Geron and I stopped at a few things before we continued walking. Once we got to the restaurant he was leading me to, we sat down and he took the straw out of the paper, rolling it up into a ball and tossing it down my shirt. I pulled it out and threw it back at him, laughing. Dinner was nice.

"Who's your best friend? Somebody you can't live without?" He asked.

I smiled and scrolled through my pictures, stopping on this. I showed it to him.

"That's my best friend, Hadley. Kind of my saving grace. My role model." I said softly.

He studied the photo before he smiled and handed it back to me. "That's sweet."

Dinner went on that way, with him asking a lot of questions about me. He had a way with words. It was like poetry. After dinner, he walked me back to my car and we parted ways. When I checked my phone finally, I had a text from Chris.

you talking to me?

I never wasn't.

I sat there, waiting on a response. The bubble sat perched on the screen, indicating that he was typing.

Did you watch the interview? I was talking about you. But more urgent, Robyn came to see you today. I don't know what the f*** the said to you. Knowing her, she was being reckless. I hope you don't think that I chose her over you, 'cause that's not it. That day when you told me to tell you that I love you in front of was really hard for me. As much as I love you, it's hard for me to hurt her. That's no excuse for real, but that's just how it is. I just didn't expect things to end like that with us, because you gave me so much more than you know, BK.

This convo can't happen through text.

So see me.

How. I got people following me now.

I'll come to you.

Tomorrow night.

Can't. Gallery.

I'll come there, too.

Bad idea.

I'm not afraid of the media.

And Robyn?

I ain't afraid of her neither! I'll be there tomorrow.

I didn't respond and started the car, exhaling and shaking my head.

Ehhhhh, I don't like her! RUN IT!

Pictures were up that day of Rihanna leaving my gallery. I swept the floor, talking to Hadley.

"Hadley I should've punched her. I keep going over that moment in my head and thinking about how f***ing SOFT I was today. Who the f*** am I now? I'm moving back to Brooklyn. f*** this LA s***." I said. "I need to be around some real nigggas."

Hadley laughed, "You sound like a child! You handled it like an ADULT. She came there to mark her territory, BK. She's intimidated by you."

"Why? She already has Chris in the palm of her hand." I said.

"Does she? If she did, do you really think that she would've taken a SPECIAL trip to come and check you? You two haven't even spoken. She saw that interview and was afraid of losing Chris, so she came and tried to scare you." Hadley said.

"I don't give a f***. I'm boycotting that b****'s albums." I said. "Basic ho."

Hadley fell out into laughter. "What did you think after you saw Chris' interview? You didn't say much last night."

I stopped sweeping and shrugged, "I kind of felt...calm." I said. "Like he said everything he needed to."

"If he was to come back, would you take him?" She asked.

"We'd have a lot to talk about. This niggga told her about my sister, Hadley. That's...personal. Too f***ing personal. I don't know if I could get over that immediately." I said, looking up and staring out of the window.

Chris stood in his house, smoking and staring out of the window. Rihanna walked in, carrying bags from the day. She sat them down on the floor and walked towards him, as his dog followed her. She kissed the back of his neck.

"Hey lover." She said.

He looked over his shoulder and took a drag of his blunt, before he blew it out through his nose.

"You went to see Brooklyn today?" He asked, his voice raspy.

She nodded and plopped down on the couch, "I hate her work! The ones she gave you were special or something, 'cause I didn't see nothing there." She said, scrolling down her phone.

"What you say to her?" He asked, curious.

He knew Robyn...too well.

She shrugged, "That I'd take care of you." She said, looking over at him.

Chris studied her and nodded. He went and grabbed his spray cans and took his frustration out on the wall. She leaned on the back of the couch and looked at him.

"You haven't painted in so long." She said.

"Ain't had s*** to paint about," He responded, shaking the can furiously.

I got out of my car and grabbed my bag, before I walked around the corner to my gallery. I walked to the door and started to unlock it when I heard a camera shutter behind me. I turned around to see a man across the street snapping a photo.

"Excuse me?" I said, pissed.

I turned and walked across the street, before he scurried off. I exhaled and walked back across the street. I went inside and went to the back. I dropped my bag and pulled my laptop out before I went back out into the front and turned on the lights. The door bells chimed and I looked up to see her, with another woman and a man. She was smiling. I noticed the Black Pyramid sweatshirt immediately. I came around the counter and put my hands in my jeans, a small smile on my face.

"Hey what can I help you with?" I asked.

"Hi Brooklyn! We've met once, right?" She asked, extending her hand.

I shook her hand, my face rosy with nerves. "Yeah at the VMAs," I said softly.

"Right, with Chris." She said, smiling a little.

She looked me up and down and looked around, "Can I look around for a little while? I wanted to maybe buy something."

"Sure of course," I said, nodding.

She went off into one of the adjacent rooms and I exhaled and followed, standing near the entryway. She turned towards me.

"Explain this one to me," She said.

I walked towards her. As I spoke, I could feel her eyes crawl over me. Scrutinizing every part of me. After about 20 minutes, she shrugged.

"Not really inspired...or impressed." She mumbled. "Chris spoke highly of your place. Well thanks anyway." She said, smiling and turning to leave. She stopped and looked at me. "It was so sweet, what you guys shared. Him being there for you when you found out about your sister and everything. Cute what he said last night too. Sad what happened with you guys. I'll be sure to take care of him," She said, smiling.

The other girl pushed her and my eyes teared up. I had gotten soft with age. 2 years ago that b**** would be bleeding right now. I simply waved goodbye and watched her leave before I put my hair behind my ear and proceeded to order food for Mycah and I.

lol, thanks Hadley! RUN IT!

"How does it feel to kind of, finally make it over that hump that you were struggling with after that incident a little while back?" The interviewer asked.

"You think I'm over it?" He asked, his face serious.

"Well it seems like people have finally come around to the idea of you being around again." She said.

"Oh no absolutely not," He said, chuckling. "I'll never escape that. I'll be climbing that hump for the rest of my life. I made a mistake and no one's gonna let me forget it." He said, his face serious.

"Did you and Rihanna get to a point where, you were able to sit down and really talk it all out?" She asked.

"Yeah. That was really the only way to heal." He said, nodding. "Even having her back in my life...I still find that I haven't completely healed from the incident. It scared me. Showed me part of myself that I didn't know was there." He said.

"How can you heal? What's the next step for Chris Brown?" She asked.

"Time and growth. Choosing the people that I have in my life very carefully." He said.

"I'm glad you brought that up because people are concerned about you and Rihanna being so close you two are a ticking time bomb. What do you have to say about that?" She asked.

He sat quietly for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "I wouldn't say that they are...completely incorrect. The two of us are very similar and we have short tempers absolutely. I've had the worst arguments in my life with that woman," He said, laughing. "We're just very passionate, stubborn people. But I'm a lot older now, and wiser. Having that incident happen, really shaped my lens and changed the way that I see the situations we're in now. So I can stop it before it really escalates...'cause I know what could happen, you know?"

"Well why even put yourself in the predicament where the two of you could get there? Why not be with someone that'll bring less confrontation?" She asked.

"What's a relationship without confrontation? And like I said, part of the healing process for me is picking people in my life that give me less of an opportunity to - excuse my french - fck up. I'm at this point in my life, where I'm really wondering who I am. Not what people see when they look at me, but what I see when I look in the mirror. A lot of the s*** I'm doing," He said, shaking his head. "It's not what I wanna be doing."

"Well...what are you gonna do?" She asked.

He looked at her for a long time before he shrugged, "Change." He said. "Part of growing up. Finding the holes and fillin them muhfuggas in." He said. "Some of 'em are gonna be elusive but I'm gonna catch the ones that I can."

"Chris, thank you for this interview. It was great talking with you and knowing a little more about the things that are going on with you. You lead one of the most interesting lives I've witnessed, so this was great. Thank you." She said.

"Thanks for having me." He said, smiling and biting his lip.

I turned off the TV and sighed. My phone rang and I rolled my eyes and put the phone to my ear.

"Well..." Hadley said.

"Thanks for making me watch," I said softly.

Chris smiled over at the interviewer.

"How's it going for you?" She asked.

"Things are...pretty solid right now. I honestly can't complain." He said, his hands rested on his lap.

"Do you always wear your sunglasses?" She asked, smiling.

He shook his head, "Oh no not usually. Are they bothering you? They kinda match my swag today." He said, chuckling.

"What have you been up to lately? Well...other than dominating the world, with your Carpe Diem tour! How was that?" She asked.

"It was an awesome experience, definitely. Something for my grandkids to hear about. I'll never forget the memories I made...the people I met. Music is so universal, you know? It takes traveling around the world to really see that, in living color." He said.

I looked up from my canvas and fell into his smile...wondering what his eyes were doing behind those sunglasses.

"You got the chance to hang out with some old friends too, while you were there?" She asked, a smirk on her face.

He nodded, "I did...get to catch up with some people, yes." He said, smiling.

"What's the status on that? Are you and Robyn dating again, or are you friends?" She asked.

"We're friends." He responded casually.

"Friends headed somewhere?" She asked.

He smiled and shrugged, "Just friends right now." He said. "I can't say where we're going because I'm not thinking about it. Right now, I just wanna be there for her and spend time with her. She's a great person and I enjoy her company." He said.

I looked away from the TV and continued to paint. It went to commercial. When it came back, Chris took a sip of his water.

"Do you ever see yourself getting married?" She asked.

Chris nodded, "Contrary to popular belief, I am a family man. Right now I'm young, so I like to..." He said, flashing his smile. "I like to date around, you know? But I'm definitely a family man. I see myself having a wife in a few years."

"What does Chris Brown's dream girl look like?" She asked.

He smiled, "She's an artist...of any kind really, but preferably visual art. I like a woman that is complex, and kind of complicated. I don't wanna go out with you and know everything about you in the first 5 minutes, you know? I like things to progressively be discovered...'cause then there's depth to the relationship, you know? And I want a chick to challenge me. Nothing aggravates me more than someone who accepts my mistakes without calling me out on my BS. I'm not perfect. We can't grow in a relationship if you don't recognize my faults and make me recognize them as well." He said.

Satisfied with the answer, she smiled and nodded. "Do you think that you've met a woman like this?"

"Once," He said, smiling.

"Once...well, where is she?" She asked.

"Living," He said, chuckling. "Great girl though. I hope I run into her again." He said.

"I want to pursue this, because there were rumors that you were dating someone before the alleged reunion with Rihanna. Is this who we're talking about here? She owns an art gallery, correct?" She asked, smiling.

Chris smirked, turning red. "There's no reunion with RIhanna." He said, chuckling. "And I don't know...maybe."

"Oh don't punk out on me now! You've be great up to this point." She said.

"Some things I want for myself...she's one of them." He said, his face serious.

"When you say, want for yourself, what do you mean?" She asked.

"When I got into this industry, my life kind of became everyone else's." He said, laughing. "But that part of my life, the real part, the art and the vulnerability that she and I once shared, that's for me. For my life. Not everyone else's." He said.

My eyes watered and I put my paint brush down and looked at the television.

"Do you think it's over for you two?" She asked.

He shrugged, his face serious. "Can't really predict the future...but I'd like to run across someone like her again. As impossible as that is...she's one of a kind." He said softly.

It went to commercial once more and I exhaled and leaned back on the couch. I got a text from Hadley.

Are you crying yet?

I walked into my condo, carrying my bag of groceries. I shut the door with my foot and dropped the mail, which I was carrying with my teeth. I turned on the TV and walked into the kitchen. I put my bag down and emptied the contents, before I went back into the living room and opened the blinds. I smiled a little and slid the door open to the balcony. I walked out onto the balcony and smiled a little at the view. My phone rang and I went back inside, with the door still open. I put the phone to my ear.

"Yeah," I answered, sliding my free hand into the pocket of my pants.

"Chris' interview is about to come on. They've been making a big deal out of it all day. Are you gonna watch?" Hadley asked.

"I hadn't planned on it," I responded.

"Well you should. I think it'll be interesting," Hadley responded.

I laughed, "Why?" I asked, walking back in and shutting the door.

"I saw some of the highlights earlier on Entertainment Tonight. You should at least listen to it as you paint or cook, or whatever." Hadley said.

"Alright maybe." I responded, wanting to get off of the phone.

"Okay. Well, I'll call you after it's over." She said. I knew that she was smiling.

"Not necessary. Night Had." I said, hanging up the phone.

I picked up the remote and turned to the channel where Chris' interview would be shown before I went into my craft room and grabbed a fresh canvas and some paint: yellow, black, gray. I walked out into the living room, unwrapping the canvas and setting it up. I wet my brushes and began to dig in, when I looked up to see the interview coming on. I exhaled and continued to paint, but my ears were wide open.

I bet Chris is going to try and come back in the picture smh screw him
