Eden

I inhaled deeply, letting the aroma therapy candles do their job, while trying to ignore the knocking on my door. The door opened slowly and a woman poked her head in.
"Excuse me Eden, they're ready for you on the set."
It was Krista, Tripp's assistant.
"I don't mean to be a diva or anything Krista, but they're gonna have to wait."
She looked at me surprised.
"It's just that Tripp is here and-"
I cut her off.
"Tripp should've been here 3 hours ago. Or am I mistaken?"
"Possibly but-"
"I'm sorry but I'm not rushing now. It's nothing personal Krista. I'll just be ten more minutes."
She sighed and backed out, shutting the door behind her. I really didn't mean to make things uncomfortable for her but I was serious. I waited 3 hours for this kid, he can wait ten minutes for me.
Three minutes later I could hear arguing outside my door. This time when the door opened it was Tripp.
"Can I help you?" I asked, keeping my back to him.
"Can you help me? You forreal?"
"I thought you'd be able to sense that from the lack of sarcasm in my voice."
"You must've forgotten who I am taking to me like that."
"Wrong. I know exactly who you are. The problem is that I don't care." I got up, checked myself in the mirror and walked past him.
"Krista, who is this chick? Disrespecting me at my own video shoot. She got it twisted. Replace her."
I smiled and kept walking.
"You ain't gonna replace no one Rodney. Now let’s go before I get back in my zone and you have to wait another 30 minutes."
He was quiet. I kept walking.
"It's Tripp," he said as he caught up to me.
"Rodney Tripp Preston, right?"
"Junior. Rodney is my father not me...I go by Tripp. Always have, always will."
I looked at him and saw something change in his face. It was soft, almost vulnerable.
"But yo," he said, defenses back up. "Who do you think you are talking to me like that?"
"I'm the chick that don't give two f*cks about who you think you are. Since we're gonna be working together for the next couple of days, you need to understand something." I stopped and turned to face him; he had beautiful eyes, pictures definitely didn’t do them justice. "I'm about my business and definitely about my money. I HATE when people mess that up. Be professional Tripp."
I turned back around and continued walking.
"You got a lot of balls and a lot of attitude-" he said. "I hate that sh*t..."
"That's life baby. You can't like everyone."
We finally got to the set and the director explained the concept of the video to us.
"Don't get crazy Tripp," I said as we walked over to the bed.
"I'm an artist. I do what I need to do to make the video look good. You better not get crazy when you feel all of this on top of you."
I turned to him and grabbed his crotch.
"I've felt bigger. I think I'll be ok."
Before he could respond hair and makeup walked over to us and did some last minute fixes. I undid my robe and handed it off. Tripp smiled and rubbed his hands together as he walked around me, admiring the lingerie I was wearing.
"Oh, we're definitely gonna have a fun couple of hours."
"Look Tripp, this is business aight? Don’t get out of pocket because I certainly won’t hesitate to correct you, I don’t care how privileged you think you are.”
I crawled onto the bed and waited for the directors cue. It was gonna be a long a day.

Angel

I woke up to the warmness of the sun shining on my face, the cool breeze of Barbados blowing gently across my skin. Once again I was reminded of how blessed I truly am.
"Wake up Trevor," I said as I tapped my husband. "You've got your meeting today remember?"
He groaned and rolled over, wrapping his arms around me.
"But it's my birthdayyyy," he whined.
"I know it is old man, but you still have responsibilities."
He popped up.
"Old man? I wasn't old last night when I was knee deep in that p**sy giving you all this d**k, was I?"
"Pfft, you wasn't giving me nothing. Who was on top again?"
"Yeah, because you wouldn't let me flip you over."
"I was just tryna make sure you didn't blow your back out or anything, old man."
He climbed on top of me and smiled.
"Requesting permission to refute the claims brought against me by the court, your honor?"
I love when he uses lawyer talk.
"On what grounds counselor?" I asked.
"Falsehood and defamation. I believe that I have an argument strong enough to force the court to change their views, and possibly have it bedridden for the next couple of days."
"Mm...request denied."
"Please reconsider-"
"Denied counselor. Are you hard of hearing?"
"Come on Angel," he said pronouncing the g. "It's my birthday."
"Say it the right way and I might reconsider."
"Te quiero Angel," he said, this time replacing the g with an h. "Por favor."
He kissed my neck and I giggled and pushed him away.
"You gotta get ready baby. The car will be here in 30 minutes to pick you up and you still have to eat breakfast."
He sat up and lifted one of my legs over his shoulder.
"You got all the breakfast I need." He kissed up to my knee and ran his tongue down my thigh.
"Stop Trevor."
He ignored me and lifted my other leg. I crossed my ankles and squeezed my thighs around his neck, putting my high school wrestling experience to use.
"You have to get ready."
"D*mn baby, I always forget about this vice grip that you have. Aight, let me go."
"You promise to stop and go get ready?"
"Yeah yeah. Come on now, you're starting to hurt me."
I released him and he rubbed his neck.
"I'm sorry, but it had to be done."
I sat up and kissed his neck.
"You're lucky I'm dark skinned, otherwise you'd be I trouble."
"I doubt it." I kissed him and got out of the bed.
He followed me and grabbed my arm.
"Can you at least shower with me?"
"Fine. But you better not start nothing."
He smiled and picked me up.
"Scouts honor."

After our shower, he got ready and I went out onto the balcony. I opened my towel and let it drop to my feet as I closed my eyes and leaned my head back. I loved the way the sun in the Caribbean felt.
"You tryna start something?" he asked, turning me around and grabbing two handfuls of my behind.
"You had your fun in the shower Trev. And you're lucky I even let that happen."
"I find my wife standing on our balcony in this beautiful country, wearing nothing but the sun and I'm not supposed to try something?"
He kissed me on my lips and started working his way down. The doorbell rang and he sucked his teeth.
"Be like this when I come back." He kissed me and pulled my hair. "I'll show you just how old I am."
"See you later Gramps," I said as he walked away.

Tripp and I walked down the beach, talking. He turned out to be really good company and surprisingly polite.
I stopped to take off my sandals and he took them from me.
"I can carry them," I said.
"It's cool," he said. "You look beautiful tonight."
I looked at my dress.
"You keep saying that," I said. "You really think so?"
"Yeah," he replied.
"But it's just a summer dress."
"I know but it fits you perfectly and it tells me more about you."
"What's it telling you?"
"That you're into comfort and feeling stress free and relaxed, you're not uptight or prissy, or concerned about what people think about you or what they expect you to do. That you're not complicated...or over the top..."
He was the first guy to say that I wasn't complicated...we'll see if that sticks.
"So you sending up clothes was your secret way of figuring me out?" I asked.
"Kinda...I never really saw you in regular clothes. I was mad curious to see what you would pick and I'm glad it was this one. And anyway," he walked backwards in front of me, "I can't have people coming up to me saying that my girl can't dress. I had to make sure you had some sense of fashion."
"I'm not your girl Tripp."
He smiled. "Not yet."
"You're very sure of yourself."
"Not without reason. "I know what I want and I know you want me. I'm just waiting for you to get on board."
A simple "Hmm," was my response. I'm talking this one step at a time. "We'll see."
He smiled and turned towards the water.
"Can you swim?" he asked.
"Let's go."
"What, right now?"
"Yup." He took off his shoes.
"No. Not gonna happen, Rodney."
"Come on Edie." He took off his shirt. "What, you scared of getting a little wet?"
He winked at me and grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the water.
"You're so fresh. No, I love the water." I tried to pull back. "But it's dark and that's open water."
He shrugged his shoulders and walked behind me. He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"So what; live a little. Come on." He walked slowly forward.
We reached the edge of the water and he stopped. He kissed my neck and played with the bottom of my dress, I closed my eyes.
"I got you E, aight?"
I nodded my head and lifted my arms, I don't even know why, I just couldn't help myself. He pulled my dress over my head and tossed it on the sand. He came back in front of me and picked up my hands, lacing our fingers together. He walked backwards leading me to the water.
We walked until the water was to our chests and he pulled my legs around him. We hung around like that for a while, just looking at each other.
"You have beautiful eyes," I said.
"Thank you."
"They're honest, gentle, vulnerable..."
He turned his face away from me, I turned it back.
"It's nice to see a guy with eyes like that. Why you turn away?"
"No man wants to hear that he has 'vulnerable eyes'."
I smiled.
"But you're not just a guy, you'reTripp right?"
"Way to throw that back at me."
"Just saying. You want me to be honest right? Your eyes were the first thing I noticed about you."
He smirked.
"You know what the first thing I noticed about you was? Your lips. They looked so delicate, so gentle- but what came out of them was anything but."
"Yeah, well you pissed me off so I needed to give you a piece of my mind."
"Hmm, true...Any chance you need to give me something else?"
"Like what?" I asked.
"I don't know, maybe we can start with a kiss."
He leaned in and I turned away.
"Race you back to the sand." I dropped my legs and hurried back to shore as fast as I could, away from him and those lips.
"Hey," he followed me. "Wait up Eden."
I grabbed my dress and looked for my shoes.
"E, what's up?" he asked.
"What do you mean? I'm looking for my sandals."
I continued walking through the sand.
"Why'd you swerve me back there?"
"I didn't sw-"
"Come on now, I'm the king of swervage. Did I make you uncomfortable?"
I sighed.
"You're fine Rodney."
"Then what's up?"
He stepped close and pulled me into him. He pulled my dress from my hand and let it fall to the sand before lifting my hands up and around his neck. He rubbed his nose against mine.
"Just a kiss Eden," he whispered.
"Just a kiss? That's it?"
I raised up in my tiptoes and kissed him on the forehead.
He looked at me confused. I smiled and grabbed my dress.
"We should head back."
I pulled my dress on and threw him his shirt. I started walking and he caught up, my sandals in hand.
"A forehead kiss? Yo, you running game on me?"
"No. You said a kiss."
"Yeah but you know what i meant. If anyone's supposed to be giving a forehead kiss, it's me."
"I don't kiss on the first date."
We walked in silence, I could feel him staring at me.
"What Rodney?"
"You gonna tell me what's really going on?"
"I did."
"Be real with me E."
"Ugh. If we kiss, we're gonna have sex."
He laughed.
"What? It's just a kiss Eden."
I sucked my teeth, a little annoyed that he was so persistent. Sure, if we made it far enough he would find out eventually, but I didn't think it'd be so soon. I stopped walking and turned to him.
"...I'm celibate."
"Oh...but that's it?"
"'re ok with that?"
"It's cool, I can respect that."
He took my hand and we continued walking. That was easy.

"So, how long have you been married?" Jordan asked.
I touched my ring.
"Almost 4 years..." I replied.
"D*mn 'Gel."
"I know...I fell for him fast and hard. I didn't even see it coming."
He smiled.
"What?" I asked, curious about what popped in his head.
"Reminds me of us. We were already in too deep the very moment we met. You were the only girl I ever fell for Angel..."
"And the only one you abandoned right?"
"Touche," he said.
"How did you think I would respond? Why would you say that Jordan?"
"I'm sorry...but it's true, you know."
I looked away from him, not knowing what to say. After a while, he cleared his throat.
"So...are you happy?" he asked.
"I love him. I'm so grateful that-"
"That's not what I asked you Angel."
Luckily the waiter came with food. It's been a while since someone asked me that...and I really didn't want to answer it.
"Angel," he said, his face serious.
"What Jordan? Why do you care anyway, hmm? You didn't care for for 9 years."
He sighed.
"You're not gonna let it go, are you?"
"Let it go? Who walked out on who Jordan?" I stood up. "Until you have to bury your newborn child by yourself, don't you dare say anything to me about letting something go."
I turned and walked away. I didn't get very far before he gently grabbed my arm.
"It's been 9 years and we're still playing this game huh? We get into it and you take off." His hand slid down to mine. "I'm sorry."
I looked away from him.
"I don't think I'm ready for this Jordan. I can't just let it go."
"I didn't mean it like that A. I know I messed up but I don't want you to hold it over my head for the rest of our lives."
"I can't just move on in a couple hours, or a couple days, or a couple months."
"I'm not going anywhere."
I looked at his eyes, trying to get a feel of what he was getting at.
"What does that mean?" I finally asked.
"I walked away from us once Angel, I'll never do that again."
"There's no us, Jordan. I-"
"I know, you're married. But I'll take you in anyway you'll allow me too."
He moved closer to me and ran his hands up my arms.
"Friends," I said.
He ran his fingers through my hair- that always got to me.
"If that's what you want." He ran his thumb across my lips. "Is that what you want?"
"...yes..." I whispered. "Jordan, what are you doing?"
"Nothing." He wrapped his and around me and hugged me tightly. "I've missed you Angel." He kissed my neck and chills went down my spine. "So much."
"No Jordan," I said softly.
He kissed my neck again. God give me strength.
"Yeah baby?"
"Stop. Seriously." I pushed him away. "I love my husband, I'm faithful to my husband."
He looked me in the eye. "But you're not happy with him, are you?"
"Whether I am or not doesn't matter. I respect my marriage. You need to do the same."
"Ok, ok. My fault. Can you come back to the table with me?"
"You'll keep your hands to yourself?" I asked.
"Yeah, promise."
"Fine." I followed him back, getting my mind right. Did I really want him to stop? Of course not, but it was the right thing to do. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

Am I the only one that wants to jump Tripp's bones...

Eden

When the boat docked, we followed Tripp to the tables that had been set up a little ways up the beach. Tripp and I sat at one table, Angel and Jordan at the other.
"Are you comfortable? If it's too cold or too warm, we can move inside-"
I smiled and patted his hand; he was very cute right now.
"I'm fine Rodney, thank you."
He exhaled lightly and sat back in his chair.
"I'm sorry, I'm just a little anxious."
"It's cool. But why are you anxious?"
"First date jitters, I guess."
"Well technically, it's not our first date. I mean, come on, you've seen me in my underwear!" I laughed. "And we've practically had sex already."
He smiled and licked his lips.
"Trust me," he said, "I remember."
I blushed and took a sip of my water.
"Oh d*mn, sorry if I made you uncomfortable. But have you seen you naked?" He caught himself again. "D*mn, I'm sorry Eden."
"It's ok. I have seen me naked, I understand."
I smirked at him and he laughed.
"So what made you give in and come it with me?"
I shrugged my shoulders and leaned forward onto the table.
"I don't know."
"It had to be something 'cause you were really giving me a run for my money before. What changed your mind about me?"
"I'm not so sure if my mind has changed but...I guess I had to come because you make me feel nervous. It's been a long time since someone made me do that."
"So you like me then, huh?" He smiled.
I rolled my eyes and sat back.
"Boy please. No one said any of that."
"You don't have to say it. But why would I make you nervous if you didn't like me? "
"Get over yourself Tripp."
"I pegged you as someone who was honest about your feelings, maybe I was wrong..."
I crossed my arms. "Are you honest about yours?"
"When the occasion calls for it."
"The occasion is calling for it."
He pulled his chair next to mine and placed his arm on the back of my chair, getting as close as he could.
"I like you Eden."
I could feel his breath on my neck, it was driving me crazy.
"I might be a little bit infatuated with you."
"Infatuated," I repeated softly. "Why?"
I closed my eyes as his lips brushed lightly across my neck.
"I'm not sure yet. There's something intoxicating about you Ms. Campbell."
I turned to face him. There were those eyes again.
"What do you think about me, Eden," he asked.
"...there's something worth exploring about you...but we barely know each other, I can't say that I'm crushing just yet."
"Understood." He moved his chair back to the other side. "I look forward to getting to know you more tonight."
"Me too," I said, wishing he would come back to my side.
The waiter brought over the appetizers and some drinks. We dug in.

O gel betta gt it together run it

Eden

Tripp finally convinced me to have a drink. I was still concerned about what was happening with Angel and Jordan but I was a little less tense.

"It's been almost 45 minutes...maybe I should go check on her."
"She's good E." Tripp leaned against the railing and crossed his legs.
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I know Dubbz."
"Why do you keep calling him that? His name is Jordan."
"His stage name is J. Wonder. J. Wonder, J. Dubbz, Dubbz."
I laughed; it seemed pretty cheesy to me.
"So, what, he's like a rapper now or something?"
"Yeah. I signed him like 2 or 3 years ago. His album's gonna drop in a few months."
I laughed again.
"What's funny?"
"I'm sorry, I just can't imagine him being a rapper. The Jordan that I knew- wow. I guess things have changed. How'd you find out about him?"
"We met at a club I was doing an appearance at. I got into it with some dudes, 5 on 1. I don't even know where my security went. But Dubbz came threw and held me down. We kept in contact after that 'cause he was cool peoples in my book."
"How'd you find out that he could rap?"
"We was coolin' one night, a few months later, had a couple drinks and a couple girls and he just started spitting. It was dope. It took a minute for me to convince him to let me sign him."
"Wow. He's really legit huh? I can't believe it."
Angel and Jordan walked back again and me and Tripp stood up.
"We're good," Jordan said.
He rubbed her back and kissed her forehead.
"Sorry we ruined your first date," Angel said.
"Forget about it," Tripp said. "Tomorrow's a new day. We're gonna have the boat take us back so you guys can get home."
"What? Why?" Angel asked. "The date's over?"
"We weren't sure what was going on with you two," Tripp replied. "We didn't think you'd want to be stuck together for the whole night."
"No, no. It's fine. We talked it out. I appreciate it, but I want you guys to still have your night. Me and Jordan still have a lot to catch up on."
"You sure?" I asked.
"It's cool E." She smiled at me. "How long before we dock, Tripp?"
"...maybe another 15 minutes," he replied.
"Cool. I'm gonna fix us some drinks."
She got up and headed to the bar, I followed.
"I'll help you out, Angel."
She grabbed some glasses from the bar and dropped in some ice.
"What happened?" I asked.
"He apologized." She poured done liquor into each glass.
"And what?" She poured in some juice.
"Did you forgive him?"
"...I guess so...I don't know's more complicated than you think."
"Then why are you so set on staying? We can go and you can take some time to breath."
"No. I really want you and Tripp to have your date. I don't have a problem being around him...I've missed him. A lot."
I saw something change in her face. Not good.
"Angel, don't forget that you're married now."
She looked down at her ring.
"Right, married..." She sighed and picked up the tray of glasses. I followed her back to guys.
I know how much she cared for Jordan back then but they were kids. I really hope that she doesn't let an old case off puppy love interfere with her marriage. But from the look in her eyes, I could feel trouble brewing.

"You know your happiness was the most important thing to me Angel."
"Then why'd you leave? Why didn't you come in that night?"
"Because...your mother hated me, but she loved you. I would've loved to start a family with you, but we weren't ready for a baby Angel. We were only 15, neither of us had jobs-"
"We could've got jobs Jordan-"
"Where? You know no one in the city was trying to hire me after that whole fiasco with my dad. And you wouldn't have been able to work long with a baby on the way."
"So what, we could've figured it out! We would've, if you would've just given us the chance." He wasn't making any sense to me.
"Angel, it wouldn't have worked. And I'd rather you hate me than your mother hate you forever, she's the only one you got. Besides, with us having no money, we would've had nowhere to live 'cause she would've put you out. I felt that me leaving would've made the decision you had to make easier for you."
"So you wanted me to have an abortion?"
"I wanted you to mend your relationship with your mother and reach your full potential. I wanted you to make whatever decision you needed to make to help you do that."
I was quiet as i thought about what he said. I guess it was kind of starting to make a little sense but still...
"I was willing to risk everything for you Jordan. Everything."
"I did risk everything for you Angel. You were all that I had. I was lost for a longgg time without you."
"You were lost? Do you think it was a walk in the park for me?"
"No but I knew you'd be ok. Regardless of your differences, which was only because of me, you had a support system in your mother. You had someone to lean on. Who did I have? My drug addicted parents? I was the farthest thing from their minds. You had a bright future 'Gel, I didn't. You made me better but I brought you down. I told you, it made sense to me then..."
I thought about my relationship with my mother after he left. Things got worse before they got better.
"...we kept fighting, you know. I couldn't bring myself to get the abortion and she hated me because of it. We fought all of the time but it didn't matter. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if did it. I considered adoption but it was the only piece of you I had left, I couldn't willingly give that up." I smiled as I remembered. "One day I held a picture of you to my stomach and I told her about the time we went skating and you asked me to be your girl. She started kicking and doing flips. It felt crazy. From that point on, whenever I talked to her about you she did that. I just knew she was never gonna be able to sit down, just like her father. Whenever my mom talked about you, she would take her little foot and wedge it in my side, and keep it there until my mom stopped talking. She did it on the ultrasound once and the doctor said she was just stretching or something, but I knew she was angry. It hurt like hell." I rubbed my side as if i could still feel her. "That's when I knew she was gonna have a temper, just like her father."
And then the tears came back, in full force.
"She was two weeks late, stubborn just like you. She was active up until the day I had to go to the hospital. Never stopped moving. But then....she did. I was laying in the hospital bed and my mom was bashing you as usual, but she didn't respond to it. When my mom left the room, I poked my belly and started telling her good things about you, but still nothing."
He pulled me up and pulled me into a hug, rubbing my back.
"They didn't want to tell me but I knew. She left me, just like her father did. They still induced me and made me go through labor with her anyway."
He squeezed me tighter.
"I'm so sorry Angel," he whispered.
I pushed him off and stepped back.
"I hated the world after that, blamed everyone for what happened. I needed you Jordan," I said through clenched teeth. "You said you would always be there for me and you lied. I had to do it all by myself."
"Baby, I'm sorry. I never imagined that you'd have to go through that."
I punched his shoulders.
"You left me."
"I'm sorry."
I punched him again.
"I hated you."
"I'm sorry."
"I buried our daughter by myself Jordan!"
I went to hit him again and he blocked my arms.
"Hey." He cradled my face in his hands and rubbed my cheeks. I saw tears in his eyes. "If I could take it back, I would. Trust me." He kissed my forehead. "I'm sorry Angel."
He hugged me again and this time I hugged him back. For a second, it felt like nothing had ever changed.

<emphasized> Flashback</emphasized>
"Angel, what the hell is this?"
Angel's mother stormed into their living room holding up a pregnancy test. Angel froze, not knowing what to do.
"Answer me little girl!" She screamed. "How could you let this happen?"
Angel hated being yelled at, especially by her mother- she was generally a soft spoken woman.
"I'm sorry Ma...we didn't mean for it-" She started crying.
"We," she echoed. "I knew that little n*gga was gonna f*ck up your life! I told you to leave him alone! He ain't sh*t, just like your father."
"That's not true Ma, he's different!"
"No he's not! When are you gonna learn Angel? All these n*ggas around here are the same. And he's gonna leave you just like your father left me-"
"You're wrong Mommy! We love each other and I know he won't do that. He's gonna be in our childs life forever and we're gonna get married-"
"Like hell you are! You have plans to go to college and nothing is gonna keep you from that. We're going down to the clinic tomorrow-"
Angel stood up.
"I'm not having an abortion. I'm keeping my baby and I'm still going to college. I'll work it out. Me and Jordan will work it out."
"Angel, I swear you're gonna make me lose it, in here telling me what you are and aren't gonna do! That little boy got you wide open, huh?" She grabbed Angel's face and squeezed her cheeks. "We're getting rid of this baby, and we're getting rid of Jordan. End of discussion."
She walked away, yelling on her way up the stairs.
"Thinking they grown out here having sex, don't even have sense enough to wear a d*mn condom! And you better not have been having sex in my house! I told her to stop messing with him..."
Angel curled up into a ball and kept crying. She knew her mother would be mad, but she never thought she'd force her to have an abortion. What if Jordan felt the same way?
<emphasized> End Flashback</emphasized>

"D*mn A, can you calm down."
"Calm down? You serious Jordan?"
"Yeah, I'm serious. This is a surprise to both of us. And I know you're upset but these are the cards we were dealt so we gotta deal with it."
I hated that he was always calm during high tension situations, it always made me feel like i was being irrational. But he's right, we're here now face to face and screaming isn't going to make anything better.
" have you been?" I asked, not sure where to start.
He leaned against the sink and crossed his arms.
"Is that really the first question you wanted to ask?"
I closed the toilet cover and sat down. I used to have this moment all planned out, what I would say to him if I every saw him again...but of course nothing was coming out that way.
"...why'd you leave me Jordan? I went over our relationship in my head over and over again, trying to figure out what I did wrong, what made you stop loving me-"
"...I never stopped loving you Angel...I was doing what I thought was best for you, for your future."
"By leaving me with no warning or explanation?"
"I didn't say it was the logical thing to do Angel, but at the time it made sense. Looking back, of course I regret the way things went down but I was trying to help you."
"Help me what? Why was leaving me the best thing for my future? All I wanted was you Jordan. You were my future."
"Me and the baby right?"
My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. How could he have known?
"...What baby?"
"I saw the test 'Gel. The night your moms was yelling at you about it, I was standing outside. I was coming over to surprise you with a gift...."

"You two met before?" Tripp asked.
"Something like that," I said. I walked over to Angel and touched her shoulder. "You ok?"
Her eyes filled with tears and she bit her lip to keep it from quivering.
The two of them stood quiet, staring at each other.
"What's going on?" Tripp asked.
"Come on Angel, lets go to the bathroom " I tugged her arm but she didn't move. "Come on."
She gave in and allowed me to link arms with her. Dubbz turned to the side and made room for us to walk by. When we got to the bathroom, Angel crumbled.
"Why is he here? It took me forever to get over him! Why did he leave me like that Eden?"
She cried and screamed and cried and screamed. I tried my best to console her, but it was pointless.
"Angel, can we talk?" Dubbz was in the other side of the door, knocking lightly.
"Go to hell Jordan!" she screamed.
I really didn't want to be in the middle of this.
I cracked the door and stuck my head out.
"I don't think this is such a good idea Jordan."
"What else am I supposed to do Eden?"
"Umm, I don't know, leave her alone? Clearly she's not ready to talk to you. This is a lot for her."
"You think it's easy on me?"
Angel yanked the door open.
"It sure seemed like it was when you walked out on me." She pushed him. "How could you?" She pushed him again. "I needed you!" She pushed him again. "I hate you!"
He held her arms and moved her back into the bathroom, pushing me out at the same time. Before I could step back in, he pushed the door shut and locked it. I stood outside the door, listening to them argue.
"Everything ok?" Tripp asked, standing next to me.
"...I don't know..."
"Lets go back on deck, give them some privacy."
"No, I'd rather stay here."
"I promise you, she's good. He's not gonna do anything. Sounds like she's doing more damage to him anyway. Come on."
I walked back to the deck, Tripp following behind me.
"Maybe you should have the boat turned around," I said.
"I already asked. The captain said something about his shift ending and switching with another driver. But as soon as we reach our destination, I'll have them take us back. What was that about anyway?"
We sat down and I crossed my legs.
"They used to date."
"Things ended badly then, right?"
"....what happened?"
"It's not really my business to share Tripp, so I'd rather not talk about it."
"Ok, I get it. So...what do you wanna talk about then?"
"I don't know."
I looked out onto the water, trying not to get too worried about Angel. If there was one thing that got under her skin, it was anything that had to do with Jordan.
"Are you hungry?" Tripp asked.
"No "
He sighed and scratched his head. I felt bad; I wasn't trying to be rude or uncooperative, but I had other things on my mind.
"I'm sorry Rodney, I just-"
"It's cool, you're worried about your girl. I understand." He smiled and picked up my hand, holding it gently but firmly. It felt nice.
It was weird seeing this side of him, with him being aware other peoples feelings, and it made my heart melt.
I smiled back and moved a little closer to him before turning my attention back to the water.

Run it Lovie!

When Eden and I left the spa, the receptionist gave us an envelope with a note and a room key. All the note said was for Eden to go up to room 842 and get ready and for me to help her.
"Why does he have to be so extra?" Eden said as we headed up in the elevator.
"Girl, will you just relax?"
"Relax? I'm going on a date with Tripp Preston, a worldwide known womanizer. Maybe I shouldn't go..."
"You have to go! Duct Kerry this opportunity pass you E. It's just a date, what's the worst that could happen?"
"Oh my gosh, it's definitely been too long since you had some if you think it's the worst that could happen."
We got off the elevator and walked to the room.
"Angel, am I really gonna throw 3 years of hardwork down the drain for one night of hot...rough...passionate sex?"
I looked at her and she was in a daze; yeah it's been too long. I laughed and opened the door to the room.
"Come on girl."
She snapped out of it and followed me in.
"This suite is popping. He definitely knows how to splurge."
She walked around the room and looked around. I went over to the bar and fixed her a shot.
"And that's why I feel like he has a hidden agenda. He's doing too much Angel."
"You're making me crazy Eden! So what if he does? You have self control. Besides, he could be doing this with ANYONE but it's with you. Can you just enjoy the night please?"
I held out the shot in front of her but she wouldn't take it.
"You know I'm not a big drinker."
"It's just one shot so you can stop being so uptight ok? It's fine. Come on, bottoms up."
When she finally gave in and took the shot, the phone rang. I answered it.
"Angel? It's Tripp."
"Hey Mr. Big Time."
"Did you guys enjoy yourselves in the spa?"
"Yeah...but your girl over here seems to still be wound too tight."
"I'm not surprised. Me and you should talk about her sometime. But yo, in the master bedroom is a rack of dresses for her to choose from, shoes, accessories, all that good stuff. Help her out for me aight? Oh, and you and your husband are more then welcome to join us."
"That's sweet of you but I can't. My husband isn't even available tonight and ours you're first date-"
"There's a rack of dresses for you to choose from in the other room and I'm not taking no for an answer."
"Oh well I guess we'll be joining you then. I can't say no to that can I?"
He laughed.
"Good. I think that'll help her feel a little more comfortable. I'll see y'all in 2 hours."
"Sounds good Tripp. Bye."
I hung up the phone and headed for the master bedroom.
"What did he say?" Eden asked me.
"To get dressed. Come on, we only have two hours."

Two hours later there was a knock on the door. I opened it to find Tripp.
"You look nice Angel." He kissed me on the cheek. "Glad everything fit ok."
"Yeah, thanks Tripp. You sure you want me to tag a long? I don't want to be a third wheel."
“It's cool. I asked my boy to come along to keep you company. But he knows thine married so he'll be good. Is Eden ready?"
"Yeah," Eden said as she walked towards us. "Sorry, I needed to check something."
Tripp's face lit up. I stepped to the side and he walked in.
"You look great." He hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.
"Thank you. You look nice too."
He was wearing white linen shorts and a white linen button up with white and blue boat shoes. I'm sure them matching was a coincidence but they already looked like a couple. The both of them were totally blushing, it was cute.
Tripp walked over to the door and motioned for us to go ahead of him. We started down the hall and he shut the door behind us.

I watched the two of them as we made our way down outside. Tripp couldn't stop smiling and Eden looked like she was gonna throw up. You would've never thought that they were going on the same date, it was hilarious.
The drive there was quiet. It was kind of like we were in sixth grade again; I hope whoever this friend was that he invited was entertaining cause there was no way I was going to make it through a night of this.
"Where's your boy Tripp?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"He's meeting us at the dock."
"Is he fun?;
"Yeah. He's mad chill, I think you guys will get along."
When we got to the dock, his boy was there. Hands in his pockets, sunglasses on- he definitely looked chill. He was nothing like Trevor- he was kinda scrawny, had tattoos on just about every inch of his body. This was going to be interesting.
"You guys hold up," Tripp said. "I just wanna make sure everything's cool."
He ran ahead and disappeared into the boat with his friend. We slowed our pace.
"How you feeling?" I asked Eden.
"Ok, I guess. I have butterflies though."
"It's your first date and you like him. That's ok."
"It's not even that. It's about what happens after the date."
"Calm down. I've been watching him and I think he's really interested in you, I don't think you'll have to worry about him making a move on you."
"I'm not worried about him, I'm worried about me. His attitude was a turn off but he hasn't shown that side of him as much. Every time he smiles at me I just-"
I grabbed her by the shoulders.
"Eden, get over it. If you have sex with him, it's no big deal. But I know you won't, so stop worrying. And me and his boy are gonna be around, you probably won't even be alone long enough for it to be an issue." I saw Tripp come back out and wave us over. "Now get it together."
She nodded her head and took a deep breath. I don't know what I'm going to do with this girl.
Tripp helped us into the boat and we followed him to some seats.
Shortly after the boat took off, Tripp's friend joined us.
"My fault," he said. "I needed to use the bathroom."
"It's cool bro," Tripp said, standing up. Dubbz, this us Angel and Eden. Angel and Eden, this is Dubbz."
I turned around and my heart stopped beating. I never thought that I'd see him again. He was just as surprised as me.

(sorry guys, i've been beyond busy!)

I sat on the massage table across from Tripp, looking at him curiously.
"What are you doing here Rodney?" I asked.
"I can't go on vacation?"
"But here? I refuse to believe that this is a coincidence."
"Maybe fate's tryna tell you something."
I raised my eyebrow and twisted my mouth to the side, giving him the “Yeah, ok” face.
"Aight, you got me. I was planning to get away for a couple of days anyway, but I knew you were coming to Barbados. But I had no idea that you'd be coming to this spa, that’s a coincidence."
"Who told you I was coming here?"
"You did. Well, not directly. I heard you talking to Krista at lunch one day. I do listen Eden, when I'm interested enough."
"Are you saying that you're interested in me?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
"That's why I'm here, I need to find out. Something is drawing me to you."
He walked over to me, gently pushed my legs apart and stood between them.
"Can you honestly tell me you don't feel something between us?"
We worked closely together for almost a week but I never felt the way I felt now. I guess it was because I was in work mode…but now, him just breathing on me was driving me crazy.
He smiled and licked his lips before leaning into to kiss me. I snapped out of it and leaned away from him.
“Tripp, hold up.”
“What? Am I doing something wrong?”
I smiled unintentionally.
“No, that’s not it. But seriously, what are you hoping to get from me? ‘Cause I’m not some little groupie chick that you can just mess around with to get your fix and then bounce. I’m not that kind of girl and I don’t need to be taken advantage of.”
“Now Eden, I’m surprised at you. If I just wanted sex, I could get that from any female, any time.”
“True, but how many of them give you a run for your money? Maybe you see me as a challenge.”
“Oh, I do but there’s more to it than that. I wanna get to know you.” He stepped back and lifted my leg, crossing it over my other leg. “Believe it or not, I can respect a woman- as long as she respects herself. “
I crossed my arms, doubtful of what I was hearing.
“You talk a good game Mr. Preston and talk is cheap. Why should believe I believe what you’re saying?”
“You don’t have to. Actions speak louder than words right? So let me show. Let me take you out tonight.”
“Was that supposed to be you asking me out?”
He laughed and picked up my hand.
“Ms. Campbell, I have a lovely evening planned tonight and I’d hate to enjoy it by myself. Would you like to join me?” He stroked my hand with his thumb and smiled.
I felt my cheeks getting hot; am I seriously blushing right now?
I nodded my head and held back my smile.
“Yeah, I can do that.”
He kissed my hand and gently placed it down on my lap.
“Perfect. You and Angel stay here and get pampered, I’ll leave some information at the desk for you.”
He kissed me on the cheek and jogged towards the door.
“Where are you going?” I asked, confused.
“I got a hot date tonight. I gotta get ready!” He smiled and winked at me before disappearing into the hallway.

What am I getting myself into?
