We arrived at my house and there were police cars and ambulances everywhere.
I jumped out of Chris' car and ran into the house...Chris followed
Me: Mama!
Chris: Where is she?
The house was a mess, I just happened to look down
Me: Chris, THERE'S BLOOD!
Chris: Oh s***!
He ran around the room.
I walked up the stairs to my room. Nothing.I went into my 13 year old sister, Kira's room. I screamed.
Her body lied there, all these policemen and ambulace people were huddled around her.
Me: (tears coming down) My baby! What happened to my baby.
Policeman: Attempted murder. She still has a pulse, but some pretty serious injuries. She has also been sexually assulted and raped.
I ran to Kira's body.
Me: Baby, please. Get up. C'mon, please.
She didn't respond.
The tears started falling and Chris held me. I cried into his shoulder.
Chris: Do you know who did this?
Policeman: A man by the name of Joshua Mickins.
I stopped crying immeiatly. My mom's ex-boyfriend.

I cried more into his shoulder.

Chris and I left. I felt hatred boil up in me.

Me: A while back, my mama started dating this dude. I thought he was okay. Kira didn't like hime much. She actually hated him. I kept asking her why and she wouldn't tell me. One day, I came home from school early. Mama wasn't home. I came into the house and I heard this noise, it sounded like muffled screaming.
I ran around the house when I found Kira...(I tried to hold back my tears) she was on her bed and Joshua was fingering her. I grabbed the nearest lamp and hit him with it. Kira didn't want to tell mama, because he had said that if she tells mama, he's gonna take something. She begged me not to tell anyone. I asked her how long this had been happining and she said ever since Mama and him stared coming home.
Chris: Wow...how long agodid that happen.
Me: A year ago. Anyway, it started getting worse. Mama really started to like him, so she let his poor ass stay. I told mama, I don't think it was a good idea. We both knew he used to be a pimp, he wasn't never any good. One night Kira came into my room crying. Joshua had come into her room and tried to force her to have sex with him. She said no and he punched her. I couldn't take it anymore, I had to tell mama. I told her and she got rid of him right on the spot. I was so happy for the past year.
