Shoes
Autumn looked back at her room. It had been her habitat for 18 years and now, her senior year in high school, she had to move because of her father’s job. “I don’t get why we have to move for this stupid job. Why can’t’ you just leave us here and visit from time to time?” She looked down and the 2 month old baby girl that was lying asleep in the rocker. “Julie doesn’t need to be moving around like this.” Her father looked at her with blood shot red eyes. “Come on Autumn, you sound just like Her questioning me!” He snatched up the baby by her arm and heavily stomped to the waiting car outside. Autumn took one last glance back…goodbye home.

In the A (moving day)
Autumn’s Point of View
We had just gotten settle when I looked at the clock and realized that I would be late for the first day of work. It was a new city and I spoke with a completely different mind than others. In my previous city, I worked in the local shoe store in the mall. It was a nice small town where everyone was acquainted with one another and got along. I ran downstairs and stopped in front of my dad who held a liquor bottle in his hand. ~~~~
Father: Where do you think you’re going little girl? ( he said in a harsh, hoarse voice)
Me: Dad you know that I have to go to work (I said with my head bowed, close to a whisper)
Father: (Looked me up and down) Make me kill you here?! You bring you hot tail right on back here after you leave that mall or I’m going to kill you! You here me! You know I’ll do it!
Me: DAD I know!
Father: (stood up and glared down at me) You just raised your voice at me?
Me: I didn’t mean it dad
Father: (grabbed the back of my throat) Get on…be back by 8
Me: But I get off at 10!
Father: (Looked at me) Then die then! Or let the baby die %
I went to work and the manager showed me the ropes. Basically I was already making sales and getting more satisfied customers than the store had seen in a long time. Funny how I could smile through it all…

Autumn’s Point of View-
I really was not feeling well but I decided to come to work just to get away from the house. Lacy kept asking me the matter but I never could bring myself to tell her my “situation”. So as bad as I felt this very rude customer came in with the most amazing looking guy. It was almost like clockwork that she targeted me to annoy. “EXCUSE ME!?” she yelled obnoxiously. I walked over to her with the best smile I could conjure. The guy that accompanied her looked off as if her was showing off. Typical. She asked me to find her like thirty shoes and she threw things at me when she didn’t like them. She was very stubborn and arrogant but the icing on the cake happened to be when my phone rang. I answered when she was yelling in mid sentence. ~~~
Me: Hello?
Her: What in the hell?! No she didn’t
Me: What happened? ( I paused)
Her: You need to get off the phone that’s what needs to happen!
Me: Is she okay? (a panicked expression crossed my face)
The guy: (Looked at me concerned)
Me: Okay, on my way (hung up the phone and dropped her shoe)
Her: Chris get her! (she said nonchalantly)
Me: (turned and glared at her) I hope the sun that you feel rises and sets on your ass burns the hell out of you, you arrogant monkey (I walked off)
Chris’s eyes followed me out.
