CHAPTER ONE:: HOW THEY MET

~Mya's P.O.V~
I woke up to the buzzing sounds of my alarm clock. Annoyed at the sound, I reached over and managed to hit the snooze button. I had a 9:30 class to be at and had to get up a little bit earlier to make it to the train station on time. My school was downtown at a community college. I was going for my associates and planned on transferring out of state to get my bachelor’s in Nursing. Not being able to go back to sleep I sighed to myself and decided to go ahead and get up. I made my way to the restroom to shower and get dressed. I put my hair up in a pontytail threw on a pair of flip flops grabbed my things and headed to the car. I made it to the train station a few minutes early while I was sitting down my phone vibrated it was a txt from Dre, my boyfriend.

TXT from Dre: "good morning baby"

I rolled my eyes and put the phone back in my bag. It had been three days and I had heard nothing from him and now he wants to txt me like it’s all good and doesn't have the gumption to even call. I had been with Dre for about 2yrs and quite honestly I was getting pretty tired of him and all the drama I had been putting up with. I don't know why it's so hard for me to let go but when you love you love hard. But this was seriously getting to be too much for me to handle. My thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of the train approaching. I sighed to myself as I proceeded to board the train.

Once I made it downtown I looked at my phone and saw that I had some time left before class started so I decided to walk to this diner down the street for breakfast. I sat down and was approached by the waitress.
“Good morning. I’m Charlotte, what can I get for you to drink?”
“I’ll have some water for now and I would like orange juice when my meal comes out”
“ Ok ma’am. I’ll be right back with your water. “ she replied smiling.
I sat there and started to think of Dre once again wondering why it took him three days to reach out to me. Lately we had been arguing over the smallest things. Well actually for a while now and we always break up and end right back together. It seemed to be a pattern that we have started each time I say I’m done I always go back. This madness had to stop. Charlotte came back with my water and placed it on the table along with a napkin and some silverware.
“Have you decided on breakfast yet?”
“Um yes. I’m going to do the breakfast special with hash browns instead of grits, for the meat I will take ham. My eggs scrambled with cheese please”
“Anything else for you?” she continued as she wrote on her server pad.
“That’s all”
“Would you like some jelly for your toast?”
“ Yes. Strawberry please”
“Ok. Your order will be up in a few!” smiling
I smiled back and told her thank you. I had a test coming up on Friday so I decided to get some studying done. I took out my books and read while I waited for my food to come out.

~Chris’s P.O.V~
I looked at my watch and it read 9:05 am. My class started at 10:10 so I had an hour to burn. I was hungry and came to the conclusion that I would go and eat at the diner I had been hearing about that was supposedly so good for low prices. I walked in and took a seat at the bar. I watched the cook put the bacon and toast onto a plate, it was looking good along with that and the aroma of the food being cooked my stomach began to growl a little more. The waitress grabbed the plate and took it to her table I watched and noticed the girl she was taking it to. I stared for a minute but caught myself once she glanced at me. She was beautiful. I played it cool though, I’m sure I would see her around school seeing that she had her books out. Another waitress approached and took my drink order.

~Mya’s P.O.V~
As I got my food I couldn’t help but notice the cutie glancing over at me. I smiled to myself. It was nice to know that I could still get some male attention since it was something that I had been lacking for a while. I put my study materials back in my bag so I wouldn’t get food on them and started to eat. This place was so good and cheap. I still couldn’t get over the fact I was paying 3.40 for a meal.

~Dre’s P.O.V~
I woke up this morning tired as ever. I had been through so much in the last couple of days, ripping and running and was tired as a dog. I texted Mya but she didn’t respond. I really wasn’t expecting it I know she’s pissed. I lit my blunt and listened to UGK on the ps3. As I bobbed my head to the music and relaxed I received a text from a chick I met about 3 weeks ago. She was cool and I was feeling her although I loved Mya and could honestly see myself marrying her a part of me just wasn’t ready to commit yet and I still wasn’t fully put together myself. I still had some things I need to do for myself before I thought about marriage and lately me and Mya haven’t been on good terms and as soon as we are we end up arguing again. I was starting to get tired of her and the bull s***. I pushed her out of my mind and focused on txting back ole girl.

~Mya’s P.O.V~
As I stood at the register paying for my food I noticed “cutie” staring at me from the corner of my eye. I tried not to look over at him so I quickly got my change and headed out the door. I was kind of hoping that he would say something to me but oh well maybe I will see him around. I looked at my phone and realized I had less than 10 minutes to get to class. I hurriedly made my way into the building and to the elevator as I stood there waiting I heard my name being called. I already knew who it was just from the loudness… MiMi.
“Hey girl” I said laughing at her
“Are you on your way to class already?”
“I will be if this damn elevator hurries up”
“Why don’t you walk up the steps?”
“Up Six floors”
“Oh” she laughed
I laughed with her as the elevator came down making its sound indicating it was now available for passengers.
“Well I will text you when I get out of class.”
“Alright Tyra and I will be waiting for you in the lounge”
“Ok” I got on the elevator and headed to class.
MiMi was a cool chick. I met her last semester. MiMi was hood but she still had class and didn’t give off the typical ghetto appearance. She was studying to become a teacher. I feel sorry for her future students who have to endure her tone of voice especially if they get in trouble. (Laughs).

~Chris’s P.O.V~
After I was done eating I decided to find out some information about the girl from earlier. I had to have her it was something about her that intrigued me. The way she carried herself and she seemed like a good girl, wifey material. As the girl gave me my change I decided to ask if she knew anything about her.
“Hey do you know anything about the girl that was in here a while ago?”
“Um which girl?” she teased
I laughed because I should have been more specific “The one with the pontytail white shirt pink sweats”
“Oh yeah! That’s Mya she comes in almost every morning before class. You must like her?” she smiled
“Well I don’t know her to like her but yes I am attracted to her” I chuckled a little bit.
“She comes in every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.”
“Hmm. Thanks for the info”
“No problem. I love when guys are romantic like that, I only thought men like you existed in movies.. do you have any friends?” she laughed. But being serious at the same time.
I laughed at her placing $5 in the tip jar on the counter and walked out.
~Mya’s P.O.V~
Class was unbelievably boring today I was glad to be out. I don’t see how I stayed awake. I got on the elevator and walked downstairs to the lounge to meet Tyra and MiMi and noticed them talking to some guys. I shook my head and approached them as the two young men walked off.
“You two always being fast” I teased
“Girl you cannot tell me that those two were not fine” Tyra said high fiving MiMi.
“They alright”
“You need to find you somebody hell. You are too stuck on Dre” MiMi said in disgust.
I rolled my eyes “So what time do you guys have class again?”
“Well my next class in another 10 minutes. I don’t know about MiMi”
“Oh I’m free until 1:00. I plan on chilling with Trey until class starts”
“Who is O?”
“That’s the guys name I just met.”
“Oh”
“And his friend’s name is Cornell”
“Eh that nigga got that old man name” I joked
Tyra just looked while me and MiMi laughed
“Very funny Mya…Hopefully they will have a friend for you!”
“I’m not worried about a guy right now. I’m focused on school and technically I’m still in a relationship”
“Yeah by yourself! Which means your single” Tyra laughed and walked off to class
“That girl is a mess” I shook my head
“Trey just texted! I’m going to go upstairs to meet him. You want to come?”
“Nah I’m going to study girl. You go ahead with your hot ass!” I laughed
“Alright girl see you later”

~Alicia’s P.O.V~
I woke up and felt that Shad wasn’t in bed. Once again his ass was gone we were newlyweds and a month into marriage that was already broken. We married because I am 5months pregnant and my parents are not going for that. I know Shad isn’t ready for this and neither am I but we are in it together and once you have a child it is time to grow up but he can’t seem to understand that. I sat up and decided to call Mya. I was hoping that she wasn’t in class because I really needed to talk to someone. I was relieved to hear voice after a few rings
“Hey ma”
“Hey girl” I sighed
“Oh no. What’s wrong”
“Shad”
“What happened now?”
“I woke up and he wasn’t in bed”
“Maybe he had something to do”
“Girl please. Shad doesn’t have anything to do. He keeps talking about this studio he’s trying to get started but I don’t know”
“Well Alicia. I think you should give him a chance. He could be trying to change for the better. I know he’s hurt you in the past but I think he’s realizing things a little bit more now that you guys are expecting. And speaking of that you shouldn’t be stressing. Not good for my little nephew in there.”
“Yeah maybe your right. Are you going to come by later?”
“Sure”
“Ok see you then”
I loved Mya she was my girl since middle school. Although she wasn’t too fond of Shad she still always tried to give me a positive insight. I loved her for that and I admire her strength as a person and I hope that she finds someone better than Dre’s funky ass. That boy treats her so bad now days, she deserves better.

~Chris’s POV~
Class was now over and I headed to the hallway by the gym to meet up with Trey and Cornell. And Trey was talking to a girl as usual. She was cute though. Seemed like someone he needed, hopefully he can keep her around.
“What’s up man” giving Trey dap.
“Chillin’ on it. Chris this is MiMi. MiMi this my boy Chris”
“Hey ms lady”
“Hi, nice to meet you”
“Where is Cornell”
“Still in class I guess”
“Well I have a while before my next class starts. I’m going to go chill in the lounge for a bit then grab me some food”
“Aight man”
I walked off and headed to the lounge. The lounge was setup up like a class almost but the room had movie theatre feel because the lights were kind of dim and there was a flat screen TV in the room showing CNN. The chairs were like theatre chairs the top part of the chair reclined back slightly and there was a small desk attached to each with the ability to pull them up if needed. I took a seat and laid back tilting my hat over my head. I was drifting asleep until I heard a voice.
“Mya!”
I sat up and lift to see if it was the same Mya from this morning and to my surprise it was. I watched her gather her things and noticed that the girl talking to her was MiMi, the same girl Trey was talking to. I smiled because now I know for sure that this was meant to be. I laid back in my seat and drifted back to sleep.

~Alicia’s P.O.V~
I was finishing up my online classes for the day when Shad came in. He didn’t say a word he just went into the bedroom. I didn’t even bother him, I figured something was wrong. I got up and decided to cook something up because me and my son were hungry. I also knew Mya would be looking for something to eat once she came too. I decided to cook some baked chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans. I sighed and began cutting up the onions and bell peppers.

~Mya’s P.O.V~
School was finally over. I didn’t even bother to find Tyra or MiMi. I was headed straight my girl Licia, I could tell that she was upset about Shad. I wanted to cheer her up because she does not need to stress while being pregnant. Once I got off the train and was in my car I headed to the store to pick up some flowers and a card for my friend. I arrived to her house and knocked on the door.

“Hey mommy” I rubbed her belly and laughed
“Oh hush” she laughed
“Smells good in here girl what are you cooking?”
“I’m done now. I knew you would be hungry (laughs). I baked some chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans”
“Sounds good”
“Are you going to hand me my flowers or you going to hold on to them?”
“Oh my bad” I laughed handing her the flowers and card.
“Thank You”
“No problem. So is Shad here?”
“Yeah. He’s upstairs asleep. I’m surprised the cooking didn’t wake him”
“Mmm”
“Awe. This card is nice. Thank you girl I needed that”
“I know that’s why I brought it”
I sat down with my plate and began eating when Shad came into the kitchen
“What’s up Mya”
“Hey Shad”
“Baby Chris is coming over. Do we have enough food for him?”
“Yeah it should be”
“Cool. “ He started making his plate and once he was done he headed out the kitchen into the TV room.
I laughed at how Alicia rolled her eyes.
“Girl he gets on my nerves”
“Yeah but you love him though”
“I do. So what’s going on with Dre?”
I sighed “Nothing really. I’m pretty much done with him. It’s like all we do is argue. I don’t know but I think he’s cheating on me anyway. Well I know he is but I guess I’m starting to snap out of being in denial”
“Well whatever you do I support you and I’m here”
The doorbell rung. I heard Shad and his friend talking as I got up to put my plate in the sink I looked up and saw that Shad’s friend was the same guy from the diner this morning. We both looked at each other and shared eye contact. I smiled.
“Hey Chris. You and Shad can go in the TV room I’ll fix your plate”
“Thanks Alicia”
“Oh yeah. Chris this is Alicia’s best friend, Mya.”
He extended his hand out for me to shake “Hi Mya. Nice to meet you”
“Likewise”
He smiled while he and Shad made their way to the TV room.
“Chris is cool people. He doesn’t come around the house as much since we got married though. He says he respects the married people’s home.” Alicia laughed.
“That’s good. He seems like a nice guy”
“He really is”
“Hmm”
“You know what I don’t know why you two have never met. Maybe you should consider talking to him.”
“I don’t know. I’m not ready for anyone just yet.”
“Girl please if Dre can move on while you two are supposed to be together then you should use that among other things as motivation to let his ass go. Plus you don’t have any kids holding you back”
I sat there in silence and thought about what she was saying.
“I’m sorry. I must sound like a hypocrite”
“No girl your fine. Your right though.”

I sat there and thought about what Alicia had just said. As much as I dont want to but I know letting Dre go will be whats best.
