"I WONT!" Tatyana Yelled
Her parents had just informed her, that at the old age of 19, she would have to marry and settle down.
"You will." Her father Bomani, the king corrected.
"You, will not embarrass me again Yana."
Three years later and he still hadn't gotten over it! No one had actually.
Tatyana hated marriage and everything it stood for (for a woman).
Marriage for Taty meant, obedience, It meant to be stepped on and cheated on and maybe even beaten on by your husband with no way out.
In 1442 B.C Egypt women had most the same rights as men, to file legal actions as well as marry whom they pleased unlike in other societies, women had some rights in Egypt.
All women except Tatyana.
With her family being the rulers of this country, and having given birth to 3 girls, Tatyana could not marry who she wanted, which would be no one, and she couldnt run from the fate in which her mother and father had set out for her.
"Why can you not be more like Illiana, and Mel, Taty?" Her mother asked exasperatedly.
And here they went with this again.. Comparing Taty to her sisters was the most hated thing her parents did to her..
She was not quiet and timid like Illi, and she did not agree with every stupid thing a man said like Melodi.
Taty was her own individual who laughed only when something was funny, and spoke when she had something to say.
So what if it was unconventional for her to do so.
" PaPa you've heard about him though! he is a rake!" She pleaded, reminding him of Lord Christopher Brown's hellish reputation of bedding as many women who would let him.
"He will change once he is married. He has given his word." Was Bomani's responce..
"Mother! It is not a good match! I'm the eldest princess of EGYPT for Aten's sake! He's only a lord!" She ranted, going through every excuse she could think of to make her parents call this thing off.
" He is nephew to the Roman King! A sick Roman king with NO heirs. and is wealthy enough to provide for you and your offspring." Her mother said, trying to comfort her(and doing an aweful job of it).
Tatay didnt care about any of that! She would much rather live off the land and sell the jewelry she made to make a living. Being a princess was too much.
"Mama! I am NOT a dog! and I will not have "offspring" like one!" Taty outraged..
"Enough!" Bomani interrupted
"Tatyana it is not up for discussion.
You will marry Lord Brown.
I suggest you prepare for your bridal party."
RUN IT?? OR NO???
