Jay walked outside and blew warmth into his palms as the chilly evening air whipped across his face. He dug his hands in his pockets and walked down the empty block. He got to his post and stood there, looking in both directions. It had been a year. He was well on his way to a promotion, so he didn't sweat the lonely nights. He pulled out his iPhone and went through his contacts. He stopped on Monique's name, just as a young guy approached. He looked to be about 15. Jay looked him in the face and nodded.

"Mookie sent me." The guy said.

Jay dug in his pocket and handed him a dime bag. The dude handed him a crumpled twenty and walked off down the street. Jay pressed Monique's name and put the phone to his ear. Her voice broke the silence surrounding him and he looked down the street, as he leaned up against the building he shared this corner with.

"What you doin tonight?" He asked, his tone of voice implying that he wanted to see her.

"Mm, nothing if you tryna come through." She said.

"Be up when I call." He said, hanging up the phone and putting it back in his pocket.

He sighed and looked up at the sky and marveled at the number of stars he could count tonight. He wondered what was up there. He wondered who was sharing this view with him this evening.

3 miles to the north, Selena looked up at the stars and wished that she was there. She looked back at the crowd of kids surrounding the swimming pool, celebrating graduation. She spotted Narvin and his eyes were glued to her. She turned away and sighed. She heard his footsteps behind her on the concrete. He put his hand on her lower back and she stepped away.

"Are you crazy? What are you doing?" She asked, looking at him.

"I haven't heard from you." He said.

"I didn't know this was something I'd committed to." She said, frowning at him.

"So what? What happened doesn't mean anything to you?" He asked.

"No. She's my best friend, Narvin." Selena snapped.

"Can I have everyone's attention!"

Selena heard her best friend Chelsea's voice and she shivered.

"I wanna thank everyone for coming! Thanks to everyone who has ever been there for me. We're graduating you guys! This is huge. I've had so many good times with everyone out here. I'm gonna miss everyone. I really wanna thank my best friend Selena and my boyfriend Narvin for being there when I needed them. I love the both of you. I don't know who I'd be without you guys." She said.

Narvin smiled and Selena's face swelled with tears. She stared blankly back at her best friend and then at the sky. She didn't want to be here anymore.

See I was diggin Hayden up until now. Homeboys a lil on the trippy side. WTf, why is he so into Selena's personal business, and his assumptions about James and Selena are wayyyyy off. Yeah Selena better keep an eye on him. Maybe Selena should tell James kinda give him a heads up sorta thing.
James works so hard when it comes to his family. But I wish he had more time for them. At least he was honest with Selena and told her he had to work the weekend and Im just glad Selena was understanding of it.
Im curious with Selena when is James gonna marry her? He's talking about wanting more kids too. He needs to be putting the final ring on it.
Run It!!!

SO Glad this stories back.

Thanks readers (:

Dammit Jay Marry Her Already:)

Yea Hayden is over stepping his boundaries, she should watch out for him. I like Terry! Run It!!

Run it!

I'm happy she didn't tell James about Hayden, but if starts to get a little more creepy she should tell him

I missed this story!
James, my James, that nigga has not changed!
God I love him, he still has that temper an dlove for Selena!

He getting all soft on me! She really hurt his feelings! He really got in his feeling for her! I could feel his hurt when she said their not a couple anymore!

I thought it was sweet how he went down to the pre-school and got tough! I'm glad he coming around and realised he missed a lot!

Awe, their walking!
I was about to say i love me some JT, but damn Hayden is a tad bit of a creep!

Run it

Yeah, Hayden is a wee bit creepy, kinda even strange. I understand they are co-workers an it's important to be friendly and all. But to the point that your too friendly? And being a creep? Oh no. I suggest she tell James, let him in on it. Just in case anything happens, he'll know. James is very protective over what's his, everyone knows that. As for Terry, he is a cool dude. Like another Phillip.

aawwww they are just so cute

and hayden... seems like a psycho
lol selena does need to watch him

and im glad selena got a piece of dat lol
maybe she's a lil more happier now lol

and your welcome express!

run it

Hayden is so out of line smh
Run it

Terry brought the girls to the door and Selena smiled and picked them up, as she gathered their dirty clothes for the weekend.

"That guy Hayden that you work him." Terry said.

"Funny that you brought that up. He was creeping me out today," Selena said.

"Dude is off the hook," Terry said, laughing a little.

"Thanks for the heads up," Selena said, smiling.

He smiled at her, "Have a great weekend, Selena. Bye girls!" He said, waving at the twins.

They waved and Selena left and scurried home. She got the house in order and explained everything to the babysitter, as James was getting home. He showered and then they left to go downtown for the weekend. In the hotel, Selena showered while James caught up on ESPN. She walked out of the bathroom in a t-shirt and some underwear and sat down on the bed. James kissed her cheek, before he bit her lip. She smirked and rolled over on top of him.

"I love you," She said, looking him in the eye.

He sat up and she wrapped her legs around him. They made love, for the first time in a long time. Their bodies came together like they used to, with James and Selena becoming parts of one whole. They both climaxed and James looked at Selena.

"I wanna have more kids," He said.

Selena rolled over and smiled, "We can have as many as...4." Selena said, laughing.

He shrugged, "I'd love that." He said, looking over at Selena. "So tell me about your week," He said, turning over.

"It was great. Met the author of this really dope book. The office party was fun! Terry was there." Selena said.

"Who is Terry?" James asked.

"Mr. Frasier," Selena said.

"...Why are y'all on a first name basis?" He asked.

"He's just a really cool dude!" Selena said.

James would keep his eye on that. "Anything else?"

Selena didn't want to bring up Hayden, so she left it alone. James would kill him.

"I've gotta be honest, Selena." He said.

"What?" She asked.

"I have to work in the morning. I get off at noon and I'll be right back here, I just didn't want to lie to you anymore." He said.

Selena frowned, "You could've said so before..."

"I know, you were just so happy. I ain't wanna take that away from you," He said.

Selena shrugged and snuggled up against him, "It'll be fine," Selena said, kissing his chest. "When do I get to marry you, Mr. Taylor?"

"Very soon, baby." He said, kissing Selena's forehead.

"Please make it sooner than later," She said sighing. "I just wanna be your wife."

"You will be... in due time," He responded.

Hayden was in Selena's office when she got back from lunch. She looked at him funny and sat down at her desk.

"Sometimes, lines need to be drawn. This is one of those times, Hayden." Selena said, looking at him.

"Oh I'm sorry. I was just waiting for you," He said, sitting down on her desk.

Selena nodded and logged into her email. She noticed Hayden staring at her photographs.

"Is there something that you need?" Selena asked.

"Things are okay, at home, right?" Hayden asked.

"Drawing another line. Not sure what your obsession is with my home life, but this is work. Okay?" Selena asked.

Hayden looked at her funny, "You've never been defensive before... he's not, hurting you is he?"

"No, but you're scaring me. Please, Hayden. Just go." Selena said.

Hayden tossed his hands up and left the office. Selena sat there, uneasy for a moment before she picked up the phone and dialed James' number. He answered on the second ring.

"Hey baby." He said.

"Hi," Selena said, smiling. "So I'm off at 5 and then we can head downtown. The babysitter is supposed to be showing up at 6 so that'll give me time to get the girls and get the house in order."

"Alright sounds good," James said, typing something on his computer. "I love you, Selena."

"I love you too, baby." Selena said, smiling and hanging up the phone.

She was excited for this weekend.

Selena made her way around the room, charming everyone that she came in contact with. The liquor was flowing freely and Selena enjoyed seeing her coworkers in an environment that was so different from what she saw everyday. Hayden watched her from the piano. She walked towards him and smiled.

"Where's your date?" Selena asked.

"I could ask you the same," He said.

"James stayed with the girls," Selena said.

"I'll be your honorary date, then." He said, smiling.

"Ha, funny." Selena said, leaning up against the piano.

"Is he ever going to come to one of these?" Hayden asked.

"I'm not really sure," Selena said, shrugging. "This isn't particularly his scene, you know? I love him...but we are complete opposites."

"So how does that work? I mean, if you like everything that he doesn't..." Hayden said.

"It gets hard to navigate sometimes, but I love him so, I'm a lot more understanding when he doesn't want to do something." Selena said.

Hayden raised his eyebrows and Selena looked up to see Mr. Frasier there, with a woman that she worked with.

"Oh...that's my daughters' teacher." Selena said, pointing at Mr. Frasier.

He noticed her and came towards her.

"Selena!" He said, smiling and hugging her.

"Hey Terry. I had no idea that you knew Angela." Selena said.

"Yeah that's my best friend. We grew up together," He said, looking at Hayden. "Hey I'm Terry," He said, shaking Hayden's hand.

Hayden studied the two of them before he looked at Selena.

"I'll get you another drink," He said.

"Okay! Sounds good." She said, smiling and looking at Terry.

"You're always so happy." Terry said.

"Oh no. Definitely not. But I am lately I guess. I love being a Mom. My girls are...everything to me." Selena said, smiling deeply.

"I can tell. You are one of the few parents that always take that second glance before you leave. I've even seen you take a third." He said.

"I just wanna make sure that they're okay, at every waking moment of the day. That's the struggle I'll have, though. I'm miserable when I'm not with them." She said.

"Like now?" He asked.

Selena nodded, "...Like now." She said, looking at Terry.

When Hayden came back with her drink, she'd left to go see her girls. Hayden looked at Terry.

"Have you met her fiancee?" He asked.

"Yeah...once. Dude is scary." Terry said, laughing.

Hayden handed him the drink that was for Selena.

"Do you think he hurts her?" Hayden asked.

Terry looked at him funny, "No I don't think so. He just knows what's his, you know? Doesn't want anyone to mess with his family."

"Possessive then?" Hayden asked.

"I'd say that you're reading a little too far into dude." Terry said, laughing. "Selena seems like a happy woman. She's a great mother. The kids are fine. I'm sure things are cool."

Hayden let the thoughts marinate... but he still wasn't satisfied.

Selena walked into her room and smiled at James, who was folding clothes and placing them in his dresser. She hugged him from behind and he smiled, turning towards her. He pecked her lips.

"What's goin on?" He asked.

"My office is having a party...and I want you to come with me," She said.

He crossed his eyes, "An office party? Really?"

"It'll be fun! The last one was!" Selena said.

"I'll just stay with the girls. It'll give me some time to spend with them," He said.

Selena frowned a little and shrugged, "Okay well that's fine too." She said, smiling a little.

She left the room and James continued to fold. Selena went to the girls' room and knocked on the door. They were in their cribs, communicating across the room. Selena smiled from the door. They both stood up and hung their arms over the cribs. Selena laughed and took a picture.

"You two are perfect," She said.

James' phone vibrated and he sat down to answer. It was his boss. He needed him to come in on Saturday. Selena had planned a weekend for the two of them, but he had to work. When he got off of the phone with his boss, Selena walked in and straddled him. He kissed her neck.

"This're mine," She said, biting his ear.

"This weekend...babe I-" He started.

"What's up?" She asked, looking down at him.

Looking in her eyes then, he didn't want to break her heart.

"I'm excited about this weekend." He said.

"Me too," She said, smiling and pecking his lips.
