Chris sat quietly at the kitchen table eating cereal when his older brother Shannon walked downstairs and flicked him in the back of his head.
“Lay off Shannon!” Chris whined as he went to swat at Shannon’s hand but missed. His brother laughed and opened the fridge to look for something to eat before heading off to his first class. He had a full ride scholarship to play basketball for UCLA.
“Always crying like a b*tch.” Shannon said as he sat at the table with toast and orange juice.
“I’m not a bit. You ARE!” He said as Shannon shook his head.
“Chris, you’re 17 and still afraid to say b*tch. Say it. Say b*tch.” Chris shook his head.
“I’m not afraid to say it Shannon.”
“Then say it. Say b*tch.” Shannon started punching Chris in his arm hard. “Say b*tch! Say b*tch!” Shannon continued as his punches got harder.
Chris yelped as he grabbed his arm tightly, “Ah! You B*TCH!” He quickly felt a slap on the back of his head.
“What the hell done gotten into you Chris? Using that kind of language in my house!” His mother Joyce scolded as he looked back at her wildly.
“I told him to stop cussing mama.” Shannon smirked as he stood up and kissed his mother on the cheek. Chris’ jaw dropped.
“He’s LYING!” Chris yelled as Joyce smacked him again. “Ow ma! What was that for?”
“For raising your voice like that. Now finish yo food and head off to school.” She said as she grabbed her purse and left for work. Shannon gulped down the rest of his orange juice and stood up to grab his keys.
“You taking me to school Shan?” Chris asked as he stood up and adjusted his glasses.
“Nope.” He said smoothly as Chris sighed.
“You pass the school on your way to campus!”
“Your high school is just two blocks away. You can walk. I’m OUT!” Shannon said as he briskly walked out the front door. Chris smacked his lips as he gathered his bag and headed outside.
