"Let The Drummer Kick"

As Citizen Cope gracefully soothed her mind, she stood companionless in the middle of the empty community college gymnasium right in the middle of the faint halfway line of the basketball court, looking pleasant and light-hearted on the outside, but feeling nervous and disgruntled on the inside.

With the ball trapped just between the fat on her bicep and ribcage, she looked up at the horribly painted red and white walls and read the different banners and pennants from previous years and even before her time that hung there decorating the walls. There were plenty for her to go through.

A quick indrawn breath escaped her lips.

"I hate transferring.." she mumbled under her breath.

Because her music was so loud, she wasn't able to hear the sound of a whistle being blown from the coaches lips as he trudged in front of his team of varsity senior boys. As the screeching sound came to an end it was replaced by the squeak of twelve different pairs of sneakers pacing against the freshly waxed wood floors of the gymnasium.

In single file they ran behind one another. The vibration coming from the floors underneath her feet is what snapped at her attention. She turned to her left and in time she caught sight of the team running laps around her. She met eyes with their feet until she met with the last pair and brought her eyes up to the face of the owner.

<a href="">Josiah</a> jogged at a good pace behind his team making sure no one fell behind and everyone stayed in line, but every few seconds his attention was pulled over to the girl standing in the middle of the court. His eyes didn't want to stay on her for long, but something wouldn't let him pull away. Her presence was like a gravitational pull. He couldn't see her face for a while until he came around the front end of the court to catch her staring at the ground by his feet, he wanted a better look though, so he kept his eyes locked on her face for as long as he could and as if she felt his burning stare, she finally looked up from his traveling shoes, to his eyes.

They were locked on one another.

She wasn't sure why she felt the need to stare, her mother had taught her better than that.

A tap on her shoulder had her snap out of her mind and around to face the person whom the finger belonged to. The coach stared down at her with questioning eyes, causing her to squint in confusion before she removed a bud from her ear.

"I said I'm sorry, this is a closed practice. No spectators miss..." Asked the well built <a href="">man</a> in all Adidas wear.

"J-Jade..Vice." She stuttered, nerves getting the upper hand.

"Ahh, from the Wakelin Community College Hornets varsity team, right?" Asked the coach. <a href="">Jade</a> nodded shortly before letting her eyes dart over to the jogging team, coincidently landing on Josiah's once again.

"I heard through the grapevine that you'd be joining us soon. I'm Coach Mack. It's nice to meet you." Said the coach holding out his hand for her to shake.

She tore her eyes away once she saw that he was looking right back at her. She wondered if he were staring at her, or the conversation between her and his coach. Looking out in front of her she joined hands with Coach Mack and smiled small.

"Nice to meet you too, Coach." She replied softly.

"You trying out tomorrow afternoon? My girls varsity could really use a good point guard. Emphasis on the "good" part." He asked with a brow raised. Jade smirked dryly. She wasn't so sure she wanted to go through the whole process of joining a team again. She had been snatched right out of her comfort zone and dropped into a brand new life that she knew nothing about.

"I'm not sure I want to this time around..too much I gotta do right now with classes and catching up and what not..I don't know.." She answered with a simple shrug of her shoulders.

"Give it some thought, and if you decide it's what you want..then I'll see you here tomorrow at 2:30pm sharp." He rested a comforting hand on her shoulder, patting it gently. Jade offered him a smiled and nodded.

"Transition's always tough but, you're gonna like it here..and I'd love to have you on our team Miss. Vice." He encouraged. Jade, feeling very conflicted at the moment, only smirked at his words.

"Thanks Coach.." She spoke lowly, almost instantly falling into a depression over the matter. She'd have a new coach, a new team even. Building relationships with people was never her strong point.

Josiah had managed to perfect the art of not seeming like a creep in the time he'd been running laps with his team. His teammate for a year, <a href="">Ryder</a>, spun around on his heels and began jogging backwards, grabbing Josiah's attention.

"Ey dawg, who's that talkin' with coach? I ain't never seen him so nice, even with girls." He asked eyeing the two bodies in the middle of the court as his face twisted up in confusion. Josiah only shook his head and looked back over to her, thinking that since Ryder was doing it, there was no way he'd look weird doing it as well. He couldn't see her face anymore, only her back and the outline of her small frame. She was tall, but not freakishly tall in his opinion. He judged by the ball tucked underneath her arm that she was a baller, which immediately caught his attention when he first laid eyes on her.

"I don't even know man. Look like she a baller though." He breathed trying to pace himself and speak to his friend, who shrugged and returned to his jog, spinning on his feet to face the front once again.

Jade locked eyes with him for what must had been the fourth time now. She couldn't deny that from where he was he looked absolutely gorgeous. His glistening caramel complexion and tattoos really did wonders for him. His toned legs and defined biceps really had her taking second looks. He had almost all of her attention.

"Give it some still gotta go though. It's still a closed practice." Smiled Coach Mack. Jade pulled her eyes off of the boy and focused on the man, delivering a light hearted chuckle and a nod.

"See you around Coach." She paid one last look at the team and then the last runner, catching his eyes yet again before she turned on the heels of her shoes and trailed out of the gym at a smooth pace.

From what she could gather the coach was a cool and down to earth man. He was young, and vibrant with every word he spoke. She liked that.

Josiah watched as she retreated out of the gym. Her long flowing dark hair sweeping her cheeks as she moved with a calm he hadn't seen anyone walk with in a while. He wondered what her story was, knowing by the way she looked at him, that she has one.

"Ey Coach can we stop man?!" Yelled a tired Ryder. The coach laughed and blew on his whistle, signaling for them to stop and meet in the middle of the court to do some stretching.

"Ey Coach who was that fine piece of tail you was talkin' to?" Asked another of Josiah's of teammates and friend, <a href="">Dev</a>. Coach Mack threw him a look.

"A piece of tail you will never get to Devon, so hush." He told him. The gym was then filled with laughter. Josiah had to laugh himself.

"I see you Coach.." Muttered Dev with a sour look.

"Nah but for real though Coach..who she be?" asked Josiah with curiosity written in the creases of his forehead. Coach Mack looked over at the captain of the senior varsity team and smirked.

"I'm surprised you don't already know." He said. The boys all looked at one another with confusion.

"Jade Vice. Former point guard for the Wakelin Community College Hornets. She transferred from there last week. She's well known back where she's from." He told them, watching as they switched stretches.

"Which is?" Asked Ryder.

"Brooklyn." He replied.

"Woo..damn! Shorty came a long way dawg. From Brooklyn to Atlanta?" Spoke Dev. Josiah's eyebrows raised in slight surprise. That was quite a random change in scenery. Shaking his head, he also shook her out of his thoughts knowing he had better things to worry about.

"Aight, aight enough with that talk. Let's go everybody to the base line! I want suicides let's go!" Said the coach as he blew his whistle and watched the boys jog to the base line, ready to work hard.

"We got our first game of the school year on Friday! Exactly one week! First game of the semester! And I want a win! So we gon' work! Let me see y'all put in work!" His yells echoed throughout the gym as he strolled along the half way line with his hands behind his back. The teams feet pounded against the wooden floors leaving skid marks at every line.

As Jade stood outside the gym she was immediately met with the fresh air of the day, the breeze was calm and sun was bright and high in the afternoon sky. The campus was flooded with students mingling and horse playing with each other in their groups. Jade stood there, alone and in her own world as she looked over everything in front of her. This was the view of her life now. Things were so different from her city life.

Digging into her pants pocket, she pulled out the folded paper with the directions to her dorm room and the blueprint to the college campus. She read over the title at the top of the page.

<em>Welcome to University of Atlanta!</em>

Groaning internally, she began to move in the direction which she hoped was right and would take her to her dormitory.

<em>"Let the drummer kick, let the drummer kick that.."</em>

"Vice!" Called Josiah out to Jade as she hurried down the hall towards the stairwell.

"Stop it Josiah!" She warned waving him off. She was tired of this roller coaster between them. Tired of feeling like she had been given an ultimatum.

"Stop walkin' away from me. Stop puttin' up a fight for Colby. If he knew your worth, he'd tell his family about you." He told her, almost catching up to her. Jade whipped around.

"STOP assuming that you know s*** about my relationship, okay! You don't!--"

"Oh I don't?--"

"No, you don't!" Jade yelled cutting him off.

"I know y'all been together for nearly two months and still ain't made love. I know that much!" Spat Josiah. Jades shoulders dropped as the reminder fell over her. She had given herself to someone who didn't even have the balls to tell their own family about her.

" don't know anything.." Jades voice grew weak. Realization fell over Josiah. He witnessed the change in her voice and attitude. She seemed almost regretful. He placed the pieces together and felt the anger bubbling in the pit of his stomach.

<em>"Going nowhere fast, we've reached the climax.."</em>

"I don't wanna talk about it with you." Jade dismissed walking away from him and pushed open the door and began jogging up the steps. She could hear Josiah close behind her.

"Vice!" He called out feeling the tug in his chest. It felt as if it were about to pull apart his ribcage. His brows sunk into his forehead.

Jade continued to ignore him and tried to run up the next set of stairs when she felt Josiah grab gently at her wrists forcing her to stop. He pulled her towards him, but moved out of the way so that her back gently came into contact with the wall instead of his chest. When she was up against it, he moved until he was chest to chest with her.

<em>"Were together but were alone.."</em>

Jade felt herself mold into him as she fought to keep her eyes off of his.

Josiah had a pained expression on his face. He didn't want to think about Colby and Jade together sexually, yet the thought of it was there to haunt him. His chest heaved with anger and Jade's, with sadness.

"Why are you doing this?" Jade asked barely above a whisper. She was defeated, forgetting how to fight Josiah off any longer. He was inevitable. She could feel herself slipping into his love. His sweet breath beat softly against her face and she found herself unable to keep her eyes open.

Jade didn't know how to stop herself from feeling the way she was in front of him. Josiah clenched his jaw and rested his his forehead against hers in effort to calm himself. He let his hands rest on either side of Jade's body, trapping her, so that she couldn't run away anymore.

He was wide open.

<em>"Wont commit so we choose to run away!"</em>

"Josiah..stop..please.." Begged Jade. There was no escape.

She was wide open.

"You don't love him though.." Spoke Josiah. His voice raspy and quiet. Jade squeezed her shut eyes to keep the tears in.

"Stop runnin' from ya heart." His voice bounced off the walls, echoing around her. Haunting her.

"I can't do this..." Her voice broke and faded out as she tried talking herself out of giving in.

But it got harder the closer she got.

Josiah fought to keep his breathing under control. The proximity between them allowed him to exhale his ill feelings and inhale her scent of vanilla and fruity shampoo back into him.

<em>"It's too late we've reached the climax.."</em>

"..just tell me.." He whispered again. He wasn't backing down not when he was this close.

"..I..." Jade's hands gently pushed against his rock hard chest but Josiah continued to push back just as gently.

Pained were the both of them.

"..tell me.." He pressed into her. He couldn't deny his excitement to be this close. He angled his head causing his lips to graze the surface of hers.

Jade gasped at the tug in her heart and the shiver up her spine.

"...I.." She breathed as she quit pushing him. Her fingers clawed at the material of his shirt bringing him closer.

<em>"I've fallen somehow, feet off the ground.."</em>

Josiah couldn't resist anymore. He grazed his lips against hers once more before planting a soft and slow kiss on hers. Jade didn't react at first, but as the seconds ticked, her wall of denial had cracked straight down the middle.

She kissed him back as the tear slipped down her cheeks.

Josiah pushed her back against the wall until he was meshed against her, his tongue fought for entrance and Jade allowed it not a moment later. Her hands went around his neck to deepen the kiss.

<em>"Where are you now when I need you around.."</em>

Josiah pulled away for air leaving them both panting and excited. He eyed her carefully, peaking into her soul.

"I know you love me." He said firmly, finding his voice. Jade caught her bottom lip between her teeth and bit hard.

<em>"Im on my knees, but it seems were.."</em>

Josiah wasted no time crushing his lips onto hers again, locking them in a heated kiss. Jade broke it desperately and went to walk away, but Josiah caught her hand and brought her against the other wall adjacent to them and trapped her in another hungry kiss.

He was determined to make her come to terms with herself.

<em><strong>"'re so deep in, you don't even know which way is up."</strong></em>

Tyson's voice rang in her mind. Jade found her energy and managed to shove him back enough for her to sprint up the last set of stairs to her floor.

<em>"So we choose to run awaaay till we separate!.."</em>

She ran.

Josiah wasn't worried about her running off. Instead he wiped his mouth with his thumb and jogged up the stairs after her.

Determination in every step.

<em>"I gave my best, it wasn't enough.."</em>

Jade cried silently behind the door. She slid to the floor in exhaustion. She had cheated, on Colby. No matter how angry she was at him, what she had just done, didn't justify that.

But still she couldn't turn away from Josiah, he was becoming irresistible. Her heart fought to be with his. Tugging every which way.

"I can't do this...I-" Jade yelped as a soft knock was sound against the door. She rested her forehead in her hands and pounded against her temple in effort to get her mind straight, but it was no use. After the kiss they shared, Everything went out the window.

Josiah was consuming her.

<em>"You get upset we argue too much.."</em>

She exhaled and stood shakily to her feet to open the door.

Josiah could hear light sniffing coming from the other side as he waited patiently for Jade to come to it. A light shuffle caused him to dart his eyes all over the door, as if he could see her already. His hands were kept in his pockets as a restraint.

She rested her hand on the knob, afraid of what was on the other side. Afraid of what was to come.

<em>"We made a mess of what used to be love, so what do I care! I care! At allll!.."</em>

But she twisted it open anyway, as her resistance floated gently away from her.

There stood Josiah, standing casually still with his hands in his pockets and his head raising from the bottom of the door to her solemn eyes. Her heart raced with anticipation and the need to be near him. Tears left her eyes once she realized that opening the door had sealed her fate.

<em>"At alllll!.."</em>

Josiah didn't say a word, but his heart raced as he traced over her entire body. She had shed her jacket and was left in one of her oversized dresses that she always seems to be caught wearing. He craved to see, touch and feel what lay underneath. His eyes stopped on her chest, it heaved desperate for oxygen. He could tell her heart was pounding in her chest.

Inching closer to her, he began to close the gap and shut the door behind him with his foot.

"He make your heart race like this?.." Questioned Josiah softly, his voice sent shivers down Jade's spine.

<em>"At alllll!.."</em>

Soon Josiah was chest to chest with her, his hands left his pocket to cling softly to the sides of her hips. He brought her closer to him somehow. Jade's breath caught itself in her throat.

"Use ya words Jade." Ordered Josiah with shut eyes. His jaw clenched as he returned his forehead to hers and stayed there in the middle of the room.

Jade bit her lip hard before finally releasing her breath shakily. It was useless. She had already opened the door.

<em>"At allll!.."</em>

"He make you feel like this?.." Asked Josiah once more.

"No." She breathed. Josiah felt like a million bucks, finally getting an answer he wanted from her.

"I do.." He wasn't sure himself whether he was asking, or telling her.

"Ye-yes.." She whispered painfully. Josiah moved his hands to the round of her behind, palming it gently and moved his lips down to the hollow of her neck to nip at it, sending a cold shiver up Jade's spine.

He removed his lips from her skin to look her in the eye, his low with lust.

<em>"So we choose to run away!.."</em>

"...tell me--"

"I love you...I--" before she could finish, Josiah had crushed his lips on hers and trapped her in a heated, passionate and loving kiss. They both felt their worlds collide and mesh rightfully together in that moment.

Everything made sense.

<em>"Don't wanna give in so we both gave up.."</em>

Josiah moved first. His hands gripped Jades behind and soon enough her legs were forced to wrap around his waist. Her arms wrapped around his neck as their tongues battled for dominance. Jade moaned when Josiah backed them up into the wall near her desk. He pressed his crotch into hers so that she could feel his want. Pulling out of the kiss, jade tried to suck in as much air as she could.

"I would show you off to the world.." He breathed. Jade sniffed feeling her skin tingle and the butterflies flutter within her.

<em>"Can't take it back (its too late) we've reached the climax.."</em>

"You believe me?.." He asked her. His hands travelled slowly to the bottom of her dress and he hiked it up so that he could feel her bare flesh against his palm. His hand travelled to the thin waistband of her underwear and tugged on them gently and Jade's legs unwrapped themselves from around him so that they could fall to the ground around her ankles. Josiah palmed her ass again and hoisted her up and pressed himself into her heat.

Jade didn't say a word. It was as if the words were stuck in her throat. She wanted there to be nothing between them; clothes wise.

"Let me show you..." Asked Josiah grazing her lips. He wanted her permission. He needed it because he knew that this wasn't something he could just take. This was Jade's heart that he wanted to obtain.

He planted a gentle peck on her lips. Jade couldn't speak, so she nodded and granted him permission. Josiah looked her in the eye, making sure that she knew what she was doing. The confirmation was there in her eyes, he just wanted to be sure it was in her heart too. The last thing he wanted was for her to regret it.

"It's okay.." She managed to breathe out.

Jades shaking hands tightened around his neck as Josiah unbuckled his belt buckle and let his pants fall to the ground followed by his boxers. Stepping out of them, he walked over to her bed and laid them down with him on top. Jade's mind was spinning with emotion. Her and Colby had been in the position not even a week ago, but the feeling of Josiah's hard member against her thigh wiped Colby clean from her mind.

Josiah kissed her deeply as he moved to position himself at her entrance.

"I love you more than him.." Whispered Josiah, pushing himself into her tight, wet entrance.

<em>"You say it's better if we! Love each other separately!..."</em>

Jade gasped in surprise and tightened her grip on his shoulders. He was big, probably even too big for her, so Josiah stayed put once he was fully inside of her and gave her a minute to adjust to him. He wasted no time planting a sweet and loving kiss on her lips. The moment Jade shut her eyes was the moment she lost herself in him. She pushed up against him, signaling that she wanted more and Josiah took no time to move in and out of her rhythmically.

This feeling was almost beyond them both. It was true and real. There was no denying that.

<em>"I just need you one more time!</em>

Soon both of them were naked and Josiah was pounding into her with every thrust desperately. Even still, he wasn't close enough. Jade moaned loudly underneath him with shut eyes and tears running down the side of her face as she met him with every thrust.

"Ah! Ziah!" She screamed in complete ecstasy. Josiah felt her insides curl in excitement at the sound of her calling his name.

"Tell me again, baby." He ordered her as one hand rested above her head and the other on her waist, gripping hard as he plunged into her. Beads of sweat formed along his forehead and down Jade's neck.

"I...ah!.." She tried to spit it out but felt her eyes roll to the back of her head momentarily distracting her. Josiah kissed sloppily down her neck and to her chest where he sucked greedily at her exposed nipples. Jade could feel her climax approaching. Josiah moved a leg over his shoulder and somehow managed to gain deeper access.

<em>"Where are you now! When I need you around!.."</em>

"Ahh!" Jade moaned. Josiah groaned in response.

"Tell me!" He moaned peering down at her low eyes. She was staring right back at him and he could see that she loved him and only him, but he needed to hear it.

<em>"Im on my knees, but I seems we're going nowhere fast.."</em>

"I do..I love you! Josiah..I'm c-" Jade squeezed her eyes as her center tightened around Josiah's member.

"Cum with me baby.." He told her feeling his climax approach. He sped up his thrusts and Jade bucked against him screaming his name all the while. They rode out their high together. Josiah's seed spilled into her as her juices spilled all over him.

His arms shook and he collapsed his lower half onto hers in effort to catch his breath. Both chests heaved against one another's. Josiah buried his face in the crook of Jade's neck.

She was drenched in euphoria.

The sound of her ringtone was sound in the room, but it was distant.

"He can never love you like I do..and you can never love him the way you love me.." Spoke Josiah removing his face from her neck to look her in the eyes. Jade never said a word.

<em>"Can't take it back, t's too late we've reached the climax.."</em>

He was right. He had won.
