"Let The Drummer Kick"

As Citizen Cope gracefully soothed her mind, she stood companionless in the middle of the empty community college gymnasium right in the middle of the faint halfway line of the basketball court, looking pleasant and light-hearted on the outside, but feeling nervous and disgruntled on the inside.

With the ball trapped just between the fat on her bicep and ribcage, she looked up at the horribly painted red and white walls and read the different banners and pennants from previous years and even before her time that hung there decorating the walls. There were plenty for her to go through.

A quick indrawn breath escaped her lips.

"I hate transferring.." she mumbled under her breath.

Because her music was so loud, she wasn't able to hear the sound of a whistle being blown from the coaches lips as he trudged in front of his team of varsity senior boys. As the screeching sound came to an end it was replaced by the squeak of twelve different pairs of sneakers pacing against the freshly waxed wood floors of the gymnasium.

In single file they ran behind one another. The vibration coming from the floors underneath her feet is what snapped at her attention. She turned to her left and in time she caught sight of the team running laps around her. She met eyes with their feet until she met with the last pair and brought her eyes up to the face of the owner.

<a href="">Josiah</a> jogged at a good pace behind his team making sure no one fell behind and everyone stayed in line, but every few seconds his attention was pulled over to the girl standing in the middle of the court. His eyes didn't want to stay on her for long, but something wouldn't let him pull away. Her presence was like a gravitational pull. He couldn't see her face for a while until he came around the front end of the court to catch her staring at the ground by his feet, he wanted a better look though, so he kept his eyes locked on her face for as long as he could and as if she felt his burning stare, she finally looked up from his traveling shoes, to his eyes.

They were locked on one another.

She wasn't sure why she felt the need to stare, her mother had taught her better than that.

A tap on her shoulder had her snap out of her mind and around to face the person whom the finger belonged to. The coach stared down at her with questioning eyes, causing her to squint in confusion before she removed a bud from her ear.

"I said I'm sorry, this is a closed practice. No spectators miss..." Asked the well built <a href="">man</a> in all Adidas wear.

"J-Jade..Vice." She stuttered, nerves getting the upper hand.

"Ahh, from the Wakelin Community College Hornets varsity team, right?" Asked the coach. <a href="">Jade</a> nodded shortly before letting her eyes dart over to the jogging team, coincidently landing on Josiah's once again.

"I heard through the grapevine that you'd be joining us soon. I'm Coach Mack. It's nice to meet you." Said the coach holding out his hand for her to shake.

She tore her eyes away once she saw that he was looking right back at her. She wondered if he were staring at her, or the conversation between her and his coach. Looking out in front of her she joined hands with Coach Mack and smiled small.

"Nice to meet you too, Coach." She replied softly.

"You trying out tomorrow afternoon? My girls varsity could really use a good point guard. Emphasis on the "good" part." He asked with a brow raised. Jade smirked dryly. She wasn't so sure she wanted to go through the whole process of joining a team again. She had been snatched right out of her comfort zone and dropped into a brand new life that she knew nothing about.

"I'm not sure I want to this time around..too much I gotta do right now with classes and catching up and what not..I don't know.." She answered with a simple shrug of her shoulders.

"Give it some thought, and if you decide it's what you want..then I'll see you here tomorrow at 2:30pm sharp." He rested a comforting hand on her shoulder, patting it gently. Jade offered him a smiled and nodded.

"Transition's always tough but, you're gonna like it here..and I'd love to have you on our team Miss. Vice." He encouraged. Jade, feeling very conflicted at the moment, only smirked at his words.

"Thanks Coach.." She spoke lowly, almost instantly falling into a depression over the matter. She'd have a new coach, a new team even. Building relationships with people was never her strong point.

Josiah had managed to perfect the art of not seeming like a creep in the time he'd been running laps with his team. His teammate for a year, <a href="">Ryder</a>, spun around on his heels and began jogging backwards, grabbing Josiah's attention.

"Ey dawg, who's that talkin' with coach? I ain't never seen him so nice, even with girls." He asked eyeing the two bodies in the middle of the court as his face twisted up in confusion. Josiah only shook his head and looked back over to her, thinking that since Ryder was doing it, there was no way he'd look weird doing it as well. He couldn't see her face anymore, only her back and the outline of her small frame. She was tall, but not freakishly tall in his opinion. He judged by the ball tucked underneath her arm that she was a baller, which immediately caught his attention when he first laid eyes on her.

"I don't even know man. Look like she a baller though." He breathed trying to pace himself and speak to his friend, who shrugged and returned to his jog, spinning on his feet to face the front once again.

Jade locked eyes with him for what must had been the fourth time now. She couldn't deny that from where he was he looked absolutely gorgeous. His glistening caramel complexion and tattoos really did wonders for him. His toned legs and defined biceps really had her taking second looks. He had almost all of her attention.

"Give it some still gotta go though. It's still a closed practice." Smiled Coach Mack. Jade pulled her eyes off of the boy and focused on the man, delivering a light hearted chuckle and a nod.

"See you around Coach." She paid one last look at the team and then the last runner, catching his eyes yet again before she turned on the heels of her shoes and trailed out of the gym at a smooth pace.

From what she could gather the coach was a cool and down to earth man. He was young, and vibrant with every word he spoke. She liked that.

Josiah watched as she retreated out of the gym. Her long flowing dark hair sweeping her cheeks as she moved with a calm he hadn't seen anyone walk with in a while. He wondered what her story was, knowing by the way she looked at him, that she has one.

"Ey Coach can we stop man?!" Yelled a tired Ryder. The coach laughed and blew on his whistle, signaling for them to stop and meet in the middle of the court to do some stretching.

"Ey Coach who was that fine piece of tail you was talkin' to?" Asked another of Josiah's of teammates and friend, <a href="">Dev</a>. Coach Mack threw him a look.

"A piece of tail you will never get to Devon, so hush." He told him. The gym was then filled with laughter. Josiah had to laugh himself.

"I see you Coach.." Muttered Dev with a sour look.

"Nah but for real though Coach..who she be?" asked Josiah with curiosity written in the creases of his forehead. Coach Mack looked over at the captain of the senior varsity team and smirked.

"I'm surprised you don't already know." He said. The boys all looked at one another with confusion.

"Jade Vice. Former point guard for the Wakelin Community College Hornets. She transferred from there last week. She's well known back where she's from." He told them, watching as they switched stretches.

"Which is?" Asked Ryder.

"Brooklyn." He replied.

"Woo..damn! Shorty came a long way dawg. From Brooklyn to Atlanta?" Spoke Dev. Josiah's eyebrows raised in slight surprise. That was quite a random change in scenery. Shaking his head, he also shook her out of his thoughts knowing he had better things to worry about.

"Aight, aight enough with that talk. Let's go everybody to the base line! I want suicides let's go!" Said the coach as he blew his whistle and watched the boys jog to the base line, ready to work hard.

"We got our first game of the school year on Friday! Exactly one week! First game of the semester! And I want a win! So we gon' work! Let me see y'all put in work!" His yells echoed throughout the gym as he strolled along the half way line with his hands behind his back. The teams feet pounded against the wooden floors leaving skid marks at every line.

As Jade stood outside the gym she was immediately met with the fresh air of the day, the breeze was calm and sun was bright and high in the afternoon sky. The campus was flooded with students mingling and horse playing with each other in their groups. Jade stood there, alone and in her own world as she looked over everything in front of her. This was the view of her life now. Things were so different from her city life.

Digging into her pants pocket, she pulled out the folded paper with the directions to her dorm room and the blueprint to the college campus. She read over the title at the top of the page.

<em>Welcome to University of Atlanta!</em>

Groaning internally, she began to move in the direction which she hoped was right and would take her to her dormitory.

<em>"Let the drummer kick, let the drummer kick that.."</em>

Just use you're freakin wordsss!!!
Run it!!!

Wow! RUN IT!

Jade sat up in the bleachers, surrounded by a large crowd of spectators there to watch the boys play against another school.

"What's been going on with you and Ziah? Y'all two are so quiet around each other now. It's like day one when he couldn't stand ya ass." Said Tina earning an eye roll from Jade.

Four days of the silent treatment. It seemed as if Josiah wanted nothing to do with her anymore and for that, she was sorry. Had she known this is how it would have turned out, she wouldn't have said a word, but she knew she couldn't leave things in the air the way she had tried to at first. Nothing would have resolved itself that way. Regardless, Jade never regret her decision. Things between her and Colby were better than they were a few days ago. She was able to focus on him more now that she knew where her and Josiah stood, though it wasn't in a spot she wanted to be in with him.

It was almost as if she were someone looking from the outside into his life now. She wasn't as privileged as before. Josiah only let her see what he wanted her to see, and that was barely anything; just what was on his outer shell.

She would try and reach in, but he wasn't having it. Greetings from Jade were returned with a simple head nod. Some days she wouldnt receive anything in return. Whenever she saw Josiah in class, he sat far away, in the same seat she had first seen him in in the beginning of the school year. Losing her best friend had become a consequence she had to deal with.

She wasn't sure if everyone else had picked up on their behavior towards each other, but it was obvious Tina had.

"Tell you later." Jade waved her off. Tina nodded and cheered as the whistle blowed and the boys took their positions and readied themselves for the game.

"Let's go boys!" Clapped Tina, standing to her feet. Jade stood with her and clapped heavy for their team. She eyed the court for Josiah, out of habit. She frowned when she spotted him jogging to the center of the court to take part in a jump ball. He did his usual sign of the cross and kiss to the sky as he came to a stop in front of the other player. Jade smiled softly at his faith.

She missed him.

"LET'S GO GUYS!" She yelled spotting Colby squatting and waiting for the game to begin.

Josiah and his team entered the locker room, tired and sweaty. His thighs burned with desire to rest and his chest heaved with exhaustion. Using his jersey he took the neck and used it to wipe the sweat off of his face. He arrived at his locker in between Dev and Ryder's and across from Colby's.

"f***in' tired man." Said Dev resting on the bench in between the lockers.

"Them Emory niggas is comin' hard man." Spoke Ryder with a bit of worry.

"We up by six though, we just gotta keep it up. Wright, you good nigga?" Asked Dev. Josiah took in a large amount of Gatorade and exhaled heavily wiping his mouth. He winced as a cramp appeared in his chest.

"I don't know man, they got defense on ten nigga. Two's all over me." Breathed Josiah.

"Where coach at?!" Asked Dev.

"He comin'." Answered Ryder seeing Coach step into view. The boys went quiet.

"Nobody said it was gonna be easy! You're okay! You're okay!..This is our last shot into the tournament!...After break, things gon' get real serious around here!..So I want you to go back out there and put in work! Show these guys why they ain't s*** against U of A....take a minute to catch ya breath." Said the coach as he disappeared into his office to make a phonecall.

Colby sighed as he picked up his water bottle. Opening his locker wider, Josiah caught a glimpse of a picture of him and Jade locked in a kiss, hanging inside. He turned away from it quickly, clearing his throat.

"Is it me, or are those guys way better than last year?" Asked Colby as he sipped his water. Sweat dripped down his entire body. Josiah clenched his jaw, just the sound of his voice got on his nerves.

"I'm tellin' you.." Agreed Ryder.

"Maybe if defense picked up the slack a little.." Mumbled Josiah under his breath, picking a Colby.

Colby paused and turned from his locker to face Josiah's back. His brows sunk into his forehead.

"What?" He asked mildly confused and not sure if he heard correctly.

"You heard me." Spat Josiah.

"What's your problem, man?" Asked Colby with not the slightest clue.

Josiah licked his lips and spun around after shutting his locker.

"You ain't on ya man. It's givin' him a way to get to me and I can't make no shots. Cover ya man--"

"The f*** are you talking about, I'm busting ass--"

"Obviously not hard enough--"

"EY, EY!....calm the f*** down y'all. The f*** is this?" Asked Ryder in confusion. His teammates never bickered, so the scene before him threw him off.

"Talk to Josiah..." Pointed Colby, shaking his head in disbelief and turning back to his locker.

Ryder and Dev looked to their friend for answers, but knew they wouldn't get any judging by the look on his face.

Josiah sucked his teeth and slammed his locker shut before leaving the locker room.

He thought it would be easy shutting Jade out, but not talking to her, made him feel like he was going cold turkey. Seeing her around campus with Colby had him feeling jealousy he's never felt before. In class, all he wanted to do was move over to his rightful seat next to her, but he couldn't. He couldn't be her friend, his heart wouldn't allow it.

Breaking up with Amelia wasn't as easy as he thought it would've been. The tears he tried desperately not to cause, had run like a river and he hadn't even told her he was in love with someone else, he only told her that he thought it wasn't working out between them. He didn't want to put a wedge between her and Jade's friendship and he didn't want news getting back to Colby. He didnt have to do any of that, but Josiah wasn't a selfish man. He wouldnt hurt others just to get what he wanted.

He felt terrible for hurting Amelia. Seeing her on the court cheering on his team, he tried to get her attention, but she wasn't having it. They haven't spoken since the breakup that had happened on Tuesday. Amelia wanted nothing to do with him and Jade didn't want him, and he had to deal with that. A part of him wasn't worried, a part of him agreed that time would bring Jade to her senses. That same part thought that Colby didn't stand a chance, but the other part of him was growing impatient.

He thought that for now, his love for Jade would be easy to ignore, but trying to had proved to be the hardest battle to win, and he was growing tired of fighting.

lowkey im kinda happy for her
but at the same time she dumb af knowing how josiah is with his love issues she of all ppl ruin it for him
that was so deep
but i hope the time apart makes her realized it
her and josiah are soul mates
and she gona hurt her bf anyways she eating her own words she is stringing him along tryna force the love between them
they both need this time to collect themselves
run it

Adding soon!

Jade I can't with you girl I'm done
Josiah boo don't you worry she can't run forever love is gona catch her ass just wait
Run it!!

I feel so bad for Josiah!! Its gotta feel like s*** to know that the person you love, loves you back, but won't do anything about it. I understand Jade's point of view tho. She can't just break someone else's heart like that. Although Josiah must feel like, she ain't willing to hurt Colby, so she would rather hurt him.

Josiah knew the risks of telling Jade how he felt. He knew about Colby. What was he expecting her to do, say f*** Colby and be with him?? In a perfect world yes. But in the real one, no. Esp since he has a girlfriend too!! Josiah needs time to break up with Amelia and deal with that loss before jumping into something else. And Tyson is right about Jade, maybe exploring things with Colby will deepen her understanding of her feelings about them both.

I really hope they stay friends, but I doubt it. Like Josiah said, "You can't have ya cake and eat it too".

jade .... tisk tisk

<strong> GIRL f*** IS YOU DOING!?!?!?!?! </strong> I don't even have words. I have been waiting for this moment and now you just throw it away. why?? Please guide her to the right man.

Colby is great but not incredimazable like Josiah. Colby is more of a friend than anything. He would understand. Plus I think he knows ,just like ameila did, that love don't live in her heart for him.

Run it please!!!

*Silent Reader*

Wowwwwwwwwwww, RUN IT!

I'm not really feeling J Dawg right now. like is She serious? she want Josiah to listen to her and be there for her and support her relationship with "dude" while He sit back in agony because of the feelings He has for her. She is something else. and she better come to real quick before she moss out on an amazing lover, AND friend! ugh so pissed with her. Poor Josiah, He deserves someone to love him! Run it Chile!!

I made a post wer i was ventn bout this jade thing but it wouldnt post run it

I forgot my log in information and didnt feel like creating a new one but i had to let you know...that i am addicted to this story lbdas. that last add kinda made me mad with her but i also understand where she is coming from. he seriously couldnt expect her to just drop the first person she has been in a relationship with, since the rape, at the drop of a dime. however, while trying to save Colby's feelings, she needs to be sure that she is willing to miss out on what could possibly the best to ever come into her life. Zi, I love this guy. I am so sorry that at the one moment he decides to give love another try, it starts out one sided but i have a feeling that her love for Zi is going to overpower how she feels about Colby.

RUN IT ASAP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This s*** just pissed me all the way off! Vice wtf is you doing man? If it wasn't for Josiah you wouldn't be the person you are now! You should've been worried bout his heart not Colby. I agree she selfish. Josiah was a wayyy better friend than her. I hope he don't speak to her for a minute too just so she can feel what it is like to not have him around.

wooosahh OK my vent is over. Love this story thoughts. Run it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy he was basically like f*** you. Jade is selfish...she wasn't even half the friend he was to her and then because she tryna be a people pleaser in her own selfish way as long as it benefits her. You wasn't tryna break Colby's heart but you sure did break Zi's.

Damn...I hope her sticking with Colby is worth it

RUN IT!!!!

Jade approached the doors of the gymnasium. She knew that's where he would be. She banged heavily three times, paused for one second and banged two times more. That was the code knock they had come up with for Jade.

She waited patiently for him to answer her call. The cold December air was brisk against her exposed fingers and face.

Christmas break was approaching quickly and soon school would be on holidays for a week. Jade didn't want to be fighting with Josiah when that time came around.

His face appeared in the rectangular shaped window and while seeming surprised to see her, he also seemed happy. He quickly pushed open the door and let her in.

Jade rushed in and rubbed her arms trying to warm up.

"Knew I'd find you here." She sniffed. Josiah held the basketball by his side as he scratched behind his head with his free hand. Nerves covered him whole.

"I came to check you at ya dorm today..but you weren't there. You ain't come to class so.." He spoke avoiding her eyes.

Jade nodded.

"I went to see a friend in town." She said keeping her eyes on the ball in his possession. Holding her hands out and stepping backwards she waited for Josiah to pass it to her. He did, and turning around, jade jogged around the court with the ball in hand, dribbling the ball skillfully between her legs and soon performing a lay up.

Josiah smirked at her talent.

"Why you ain't wanna go pro?" Asked Josiah walking into the court. Jade bounced the ball once before holding it and eyeing him.

"Why don't you?" She countered with another questioned. Josiah shrugged.

"I want more for myself." He answered. Jade nodded once.

"Same." She finished walking towards him slowly.

"Why you always gotta ask a question with another question?" He asked. Jade looked at him with an absent smirk. She knew he hated when she did that.

"It's my way not answering questions I don't wanna a polite way." She responded. Josiah shoved his hands into his pockets. They stood still, a couple feet away from each other.

Josiah felt like she was too far.

"Zi...we can' this with each other." Began Jade. Josiah squinted his eyes paying close attention.

"We're both in relationships with good people!" She exclaimed. Josiah snorted.

"You serious?--"

"Yes! I'm serious. Regardless of how messed up this whole thing is I still want to be with Colby. I'm not gonna break his heart like that just because you suddenly came out of the woodwork." Josiah shook his head pulling his mouth up to the side, looking away from her in disagreement.

"I still want to try with him..and I want you, as my best friend to understand that and be supportive of that." Jade stood her ground.

"You realize you already hurtin' him right? You stringin' him along girl--"

"I don't care what you think." She spat cutting him off.

Josiah was losing and he had no idea how he was going to deal with the loss. He let his head drop in defeat before picking it up again.

"You really that afraid to admit to me that you have feelings for me?"he asked.

"I have feelings for you. There. Happy? But that doesn't change anything. This isn't right--"

"What do you mean this ain't right--"

"I mean the timing isn't right Zi! You have a girlfriend who loves you and clearly you have love to know that give it to her." Said Jade as her voice cracked. This whole situation took it's toll on her.

"Maaan! You so in denial." He said unbelievably and brought his hand up to his brain.

Josiah continued to show his disagreement by sighing heavily. It was clear to him that Jade wanted something totally different from him and the last thing he would do was force her.

"...This what you really want? Relationship with dude?" He asked, surrendering. Jade nodded after a pregnant pause. Josiah returned the nod, clenching his jaw.

"...aight. I'll respect that." He said.

Jade sighed in relief.

"Thank you.." She said, not sure of what she had created between the two of them. Josiah stared a second longer before heading for the doors.

"Zi!.." She called out to him in confusion. She didn't want him to leave upset.

"I don't want this to change us, please..I need my best friend around." She begged quietly.

Josiah wanted to break then and there, but he didn't. It would be pointless. So instead, he shrugged and threw her an expressionless face.

"You can't have ya cake and eat it too, V.." He said before carrying himself to the doors.

"Ziah.." She called again.

He paused in front of the doors clenching onto the handle bars.

He wondered long and hard if this is what love was meant to feel like. If it was one sided and painful all the way through. Fate had given him the card to deal and now, because he finally decided to own up and release, he had to sacrifice his friendship with Jade and his relationship with Amelia. He could just be friends with Jade. and he wouldn't drag things along any further with Amelia. He was ready to cut ties and if it was meant to be, then it would be.

Jade watched Josiah stand there. It seemed as though he was having a mental conversation with himself. She went to step forward but stopped as turned to her.

"F-Y-I, THIS!...Is why I stopped f***in' with love in the first place. I never win.." He spoke trying to hide the sadness, though he was sure Jade had already caught it.

He pushed open the door and left the gym, with Jade still inside.

Tyson aka Ms Truth was tellingggg it to Jade
Yasss let her know the real deal!
She needs to let Colby go before she hurts him even more
Ziah is her love and that boy knows how to deal with her
The truth will always find you whether you're searching for it or not
Run it!!!!!

i agree with @General_YKW and @LovinMyCB lol
run it!

Wow!!!!!!!! RUN IT!

I feel like Tyson. Just end it with Colbly.

Dang I'm all stressed and its not even me lol

I'm telling you my boy Jay hit Tyson with the truth "20 years ago" so get Jay in this ASAP not rocky!

Jade she stated you love him...why are you so forceful for Colby...sure he's great but it would be like Paige and that one guy she was dating and remember when Jay didn't want to tell Paige about his feelings because she "seemed" happy...chill bro and let life flow...Zi enhances you...Colby is temporary happiness...Zi can make you happier than you already are...sounding like Mack and took her to move and then him visiting to realize he loved her...don't do that to yourself.

Your soul ain't conflicted. Your heart and your soul know WHO they's your brain who is trying to break that away. Chill bro.

Wonder wats next hope she dnt shut him out run it

"So you've got two gorgeous men, drooling at your feet and they're BOTH in love with you?..but you're only in love with one of them..and you know which one..yet--"

"Okay when you put it like that it makes me sound stupid." Frowned Jade cutting Tyson off.

"Honey, any other way I put is gonna have the same end result. You're fighting against what your own heart is trying to tell you to do. Why?" Questioned Tyson.

"Because it's not supposed to be like this!" Jade groaned.

"Jay, no one knows what it's supposed to be like. That's the beauty of it all. You're supposed to just roll with the punches, learn from your mistakes, experience trials and're twenty-one years old. It's okay not to know what happens next." Spoke Tyson.

"He's my best friend Ty. He has a girlfriend for Christ sake!" Said Jade burying her face in her hands.

Tyson smiled.

"Sounds to me, like his girlfriend got the short end of the stick. She knows he's not in love with her. He'll end it with her real soon. I'm sure of that." Said Tyson.

"But she's a friend of mine. We have mutual friends! She'll freak the f*** out if she finds out about Josiah having feelings for me and vice versa!" Jade panicked.

"Hey." Tyson snapped her fingers, quieting her instantly.

"Listen to me. The girlfriend? Non-factor. No one is at fault here, the heart wants what the heart wants. Josiah's doesn't want hers and though I'm sorry, that's far as you and Colby much do you like him?" Asked Tyson with calculating eyes.

Jade sighed sadly at the thought her boyfriend.

"A lot..I care about him a lot..he's so patient and kind and real. I just..enjoy him." Spoke Jade with a giddy smile.

"Picture a world without Colby now.." Tyson said. Jade concentrated.

"Lonely..I..never would have met him. All the jokes we shared, the happy moments and the wonderful things he's said would never exist. That would suck. I mean he's a great guy..I don't know.." Thought Jade out loud. Tyson rose an eyebrow in slight amusement.

"Now Josiah? How much do you like him?" Tyson waited for her to spill her heart out.

"I..I guess deep down I always have liked him. It's just in the beginning we always used to butt heads so much that I automatically shut out the idea of ever being more than friends with him, but now...after last night things are different. I feel like my eyes have been shut this whole time! I'm wondering how I didn't see that he felt that way before! And now..I don't know where we stand and I hate it.." Jade frowned sadly. Her chest deflated and she felt a gap in the middle of her chest. In the gap lay air that she desperately wanted to let go of, but didn't know how.

Tyson eyed her thoughtfully, feeling for the young lady in front of her.

"Okay. Now, don't think about it. Just let it flow...a world without Josiah." Spoke Tyson. Jade's eyes snapped up to meet her powerful gaze. Singe waited for Jade.

"Numb...If I never met Josiah..I'd still be the numb, emotionless, pained girl that I was almost four months ago. A world without Josiah would be numb and..and pointless.....I'd be lost within myself. I wouldn't be who I am now. He helped me find my way back to me.." She admit, feeling defeated. Tyson folded her lips together for a moment. She tried to hide the smile.

"'re so deep in, you don't even know which way is up." She grinned sitting back in her chair. Jade groaned and put her face in her palms.

"Help meeee." She whined earning a chuckle from Tyson.

"You don't need help, honey. You're in love with your best friend. It happens everyday, don't treat this like its a crime. It's not." Said Tyson.

"I have a boyfriend that I really care about Ty..I don't plan on hurting him." Spoke Jade firmly. Tyson sat forward.

"Too late." Tyson smirked causing the set look on Jade's face to fall into a frown.

Josiah walked down the campus lane. Following the wind. He wasn't hungry, he wasn't tired; physically anyway. He just wanted to find Jade.

Spotting Christina walking out of building C, he rushed over to her.

"T!" He called causing her to come to a halt in search of his voice. She smiled and accepted his hug.

"What's up, boo?" Asked Tina. Josiah offered her a smile.

"Eh, you seen V today?" He asked, cutting to the chase. Tina nodded.

"Yeah, just before I got up for school. She wasn't feelin' to hot though. Said she had a stomach bug so she was staying in bed for the day. She should still be there now." Said Tina. Josiah sighed grateful for her help. He began to back up and head in the direction of Jade's dorm.

"Aight thanks, ma. Imma see y'all later!--"

"Amelia's lookin' for you! She told me to tell you to find some way to call her when you could!" Yelled Tina. Josiah smacked his lips.

"Aight." He nodded and turned to continue his journey, not paying any mind to Amelia.

Jade found herself looking at a frame on top of Tyson's desk. Inside of it, was a picture of the blonde lady she had learned was named, Mack. Jade figured it was short for Mackenzie, she stood younger than now, in the picture with a tall handsome young man, also sporting blonde hair and a sweet, gentle smile.

"That her brother?" Asked Jade with a curious stare.

"Husband and one of my best friends." Tyson smiled.

"You all the same age?" She asked. Tyson nodded.

"He's cute for an old man." Said Jade sitting back. Tyson rolled her eyes.

"You calling me old?" She asked Jade who chuckled.

"Nah. You're that young type of look thirty..I think it's all the tats." She complimented. Tyson grinned.

"Nice save." She giggled. Jade smiled.

"When'd they get married?" Asked Jade.

"About 20 years ago. Something like that. They were high school sweethearts." Said Tyson. Jade grinned at their happiness.

"They still as happy as they look in that pic?" She asked.

"Happier." Answered Tyson.

Jade sighed.

"Have you and Josiah spoke since last night?" Jade inhaled.

"No. I don't plan on speaking to him after what he did last night." She spat.

"Jade he didn't do anything but express how he felt about you. You don't find that in a lot of men these days. Don't shut him out for being honest. It's not fair--"

"Fair? He cornered me! He trapped me! He--"

"He's in love with you." Cut in Tyson.

"And you're in love with him. Whether you want to admit it or not. Stop trying to run away from your truth." She advised. Jade bit her lip.

"I won't hurt Colby. He's a good man and I care about him a lot." She fought.

"And that's fine and dandy. Maybe sticking with Colby is what it'll take for you to fully realize that he isn't who you're meant to be with in the end." Said Tyson.

"And Josiah is?" Asked Jade in disbelief.

Tyson shrugged with a knowing look.

"I can't tell you that, only father time can." She smiled warmly at her friend.

"All I can tell you is, from what I've heard so far, you and Josiah are more powerful together than you are apart. Don't ignore him. If he has love for you that he's willing to express to you, let him express it. And you? You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you want to stay with Colby, then stay with him. If Josiah loves you like he says he does, then he'll understand." Spoke Tyson.

"But how am I supposed to just be friends and act like nothing is wrong." Asked Jade.

"Because you love him too much to cut him off. You need him and he needs you." The older woman replied.

"What am I supposed to tell Colby?" Said Jade.

"Whatever you want." Tyson's shoulders hopped.

"This is ridiculous. When did my life become such a soap opera." She voiced aloud as she stood to her feet. Tyson chuckled and stood as well following her to the door. She reached out to grab the young lady's hand before she could reach for the knob.

Looking into her eyes, Tyson made sure Jade's attention was fully locked on her before she said anything.

"You can't force chemistry to exist where it doesn't in the same way you can't deny when it does.." She said strongly.

Jade breathed, feeling her heart pull in every which way. Her soul was so conflicted and she could feel that.

"You'll figure it out, Jade. Everything will sort itself out in time." Said Tyson as she opened the door for her.

Jade stared for a moment longer, before smirking sadly and leaving the office.
